Buyer beware: Dr Jonathan Yahov put in three implanted teeth on my lower right side, and two implanted teeth on the left side. His crowns on the bottom right and my crowns on the top were filed flat so I cannot chew on that side. Also the porcelain on the top was taken off, and you can see the screws on the bottom crowns. He said he would fix the right side and nothing changed. Also the color of the crowns he added are different color than my other teeth. Asked for a refund so that the crowns could be replaced which he refused to do and is taking no responsibility for what he did Have pictures that show all of the damage including holes in the crowns, and metal screws showing through. I'm usually very conservative in my rating of any service provider, but in Dr. Yahav's case I must say I'm quite pleasantly surprised how well my considerable dental problems have been dealt with by Dr. Yahav AND his quite competent nursing staff. I was offered a complete inventory of my dental needs and now feel I can rely on my excellent care & repair service to carry me into my 100's! The worst dental experience of my life. Not only was his work sloppy -- an implant that needed to be removed. But, Dr. Yahav tried to sell me numerous procedures that I don't need. From 2014-2017 when I lived in Chicago downtown, Dr. Yahav was charging almost double of what my insurance company then had agreed with his practice. He was making me pay a lot out of pocket. After I found out, I made multiple calls to the office and his front desk assistant was willing to help, but he prevented that. I went in to see him a couple times to discuss that and he would take me to the corner of his office and tell me how nice he had been to me with his prices. Waited a few years to write this review but it happened back in 2017 so hopefully he's changed... (doubt it). Racist dentist who put his cultural beliefs on me and ruined my smile. Scraped the enamel off my front two teeth telling me "you deserve to rot in jail so I'm putting these little bars on your front teeth as a reminder". He hates you if you are of a fairer skin tone and/or smoke weed (hugely against his religion, his own words to me). This person should be sued for malpractice and/or shut down permanently. Edit: I did not want to write the racist remarks he made to me in a public forum but there were 3+ comments about my skin color in a tiny 1h cleaning procedure. Never went back, won't ever go back and I have GREAT JOY telling people about avoiding this practice like the plague. PS why do you think he charges more than other dentists? I had a terrible experience with Dr. Yahav during the two years or so that I saw him. To keep it brief, he charges a lot more for procedures/fillings than other dentists I have come to find out since leaving them. They were poor communicators, once telling me they would have nitrous gas for me and I got to my appointment and they were out. I am a very nervous patient and this did not end well for me. He also on several occasions started drilling my teeth when I wasn't numb yet. Didn't even test first to see if I was numb. I cried through several sessions. It was an awful experience. He also once did a filling for me and got to close to the nerve. I was in agonizing pain for several weeks. I have moved on to an excellent dental group on Washington in the Chicago loop and couldn't be happier with their professionalism and sensitivity to nervous patients. read more

What started out as a work trip ...turned into a tooth ache. I was at a convention with co workers and felt this pain in my tooth. As I'm not from the area I didn't know where to start looking. My co worker recommended Dr. Yahav. The front staff was friendly and very sweet. I normally hate the dentist which is why I haven't gone in 10 years. The nurse took me back and did xrays on my teeth. Turns out I had a few cavities! They showed me the xrays which made me feel comfortable and I felt like he was an honest man. They numbed me up and I didn't even feel that which is a huge plus! They gave me a few fillings (I recall 4 cavities) and I was back to normal the next day. If you're ever in the area or live in the area I recommend this place! read more

I had a root canal done by doctor Yahav on May 2018 it was an emergency root canal and I didn't know and I called a few Dr and doctor Yahav was able to see me when I got to the office they were very professional and took x-rays immediately they put me on a plan and got me in the following week to do the root . I saw Dr. Jonathan Yahav in Evanston, IL at the 1800 Sherman building back in the early 2000s. I was just out of college and hadn't been to the dentist in years. He sat me in his chair, put a camera in my mouth, and told me about the dangers of the silver amalgam fillings I had as a child. Already terrified and guilt-stricken for not having been to the dentist in a long time, he convinced me to have the silver fillings taken out of the right side of my mouth. (The left side was to be done during a future visit.) It all happened so fast. Novocaine. Drills. Done. Outfitted with temporary fillings in preparation for porcelain inlays, I was hit with a $3000.00 bill, two violently cored out molars, and a follow-up appointment date. Feeling strange about what had happened, I started to tell a friend the tale, and my friend interrupted me to ask what floor of the Sherman building I had visited. He also asked if the dentist was Dr. Jonathan Yahav. I was baffled. "Yes," I said. "He tried to do the exact same thing to me, but I immediately got up and visited the practice downstairs from his office, and that dentist told me that Dr. Yahav was apparently trying to take me for a ride. The dentist examined my mouth and said 'Your teeth are fine.'" Long story short, a dentist I consulted AFTER my Yahav adventure confirmed my suspicion that, while all of this was ultimately non-actionable and nebulous due to dentists having different judgment and varying degrees of aggressiveness, I was right to doubt the aggressive nature and necessity of the treatment that I feel Dr. Yahav railroaded me into on the first visit. However, the sad-but-true reality of the situation was that I was in a bad position now that my teeth were cored out. "You might as well go back and let him put the inlays in or you're going to have to pay another dentist to do the same work in addition to all of the duplicate lab costs. In essence you'd be paying twice." Conflicted, I returned and had Dr. Yahav put in the inlays. At the conclusion of the visit, I requested my x-rays and never returned. Dr. Yahav seriously hampered my faith in dentists, and, consequently, I just stopped going for a long, long time. While Yahav's work was technically sound, I strongly believe that it was unnecessary and, by coring out two molars and leaving thin walls, he engendered major work 13 years later. Thankfully, I finally found a dentist I trust. Don't let fear get the best of you. Always ask questions, take time to think things over, and seek a second opinion if necessary. This sounds obvious now, but when you're in the grips of fear and guilt, people can take advantage of you, and, yes, I feel Dr. Yahav took advantage of me. Don't let this happen to you. With sites like Yelp, things are much more transparent now, and we're all the better for it. read more

I went to Dr Yahav and he told me two of my teeth requires filling and should be done relatively quickly. Despite my busy schedule and a baby at home, I made time for the appointment thinking my teeth require attention. At the appointment, he told me he only does ceramic for my large filling which costs me $500 per tooth, for a total of $1000 for that day. I told him I cannot pay and I want plastic. He said he would reduce the fee and call the lab to get a reduced price ($400 per tooth). I told him that is expensive and I want to do plastic when I have this free option. He did not do it. He told me to wait and come back in 6 months ! If I knew my teeth could wait 6 months, I would not have made time that day, out of my busy schedule, to go to his office. He wasted an hour of my time. I came here for a basic teeth cleaning. The receptionist were prompt and pleasant when I arrived. The lobby area was clean, had a variety of magazines to choose from, and I had a short time to wait before going back to a room for my service. I received good service of the basic prerequisite task that is necessary prior to my teeth cleaning. The dentist, Mr. Yahav, kept checking in on me prior to him coming in to review my images from the x-rays. There was another client whose oral surgery that ran over, time wise. Instead of doing a quick generic look at the images and telling me just anything to send me on my way; he was sure to make sure he didn't begin tending to me until he could give me his undivided attention and time, after finishing up with his other client. I was grateful for that. I have recommended all friends and family to his Skokie location and I will be back for the removal of my wisdom teeth before the year is out. read more

Dr.Yahav extracted 2 teeth, the next procedure was 2 implants. I was not worried about this procedure since I had an implant on the opposite side of my mouth. Yahav also added bone graph. After returning home, I contacted Dr.Yahav since the area was still numb. He advised me that it can take awhile, even several weeks for the numbness to go away.After 3 weeks he told me it might even take months. Well years later, I still have the numbness. Both implants failed and I am left with a blank space in my mouth. Dr Yahav stressed to me that I REJECTED the 2 implants; maybe I was nervous, stressed, etc. Well after several years , under the care of a new dentist I have 3 new implants. Same body, same chemistry, same implants, different dentist. I am still upset about the procedure with Yahav. I do not feel it is professional to " blame" the patient, not is it professional to not give any price adjustment for 2 failed implants. This was a costly procedure, an emotional disappointing outcome, I have always felt I deserved better. Please select your dentist and the office with care.
