RE: $2,000 for deep cleaning and rude & unprofessional manner A sad note for Dr. Ronald Picchetti! Do you know your front desk persons and billing dept completely ruin your business? I was charged almost $2,000 cash for a deep cleaning despite my dental and medical insurance are in good standing, and you are a in-network dentist. I was a new patient. A month before my deep cleaning appointment, I asked the Philippina front desk to check for an 'Estimate of Benefits'. The Philippina promised to do so. When I was in the office, I was surprised to be asked for an immediate payment of almost $ 1,700. I questioned for the high charge for deep cleaning. In the past, I paid out of pocket off around $850 for the same service. At the time of payment, the Philippina replied that the high cost was partly due to the antibacterial and laser used in the deep cleaning treatment. I was also told that the dental office will reimburse me any difference if I overpaid after the final insurance settlement. To add insult to my injury of the above lies, I received another bill for additional payment of $ 200 for the above services. This dental office wants me to pay close to $2,000 for a deep cleaning. It turns out the front desk did not ask for an 'Estimate of Benefits'. When I protested the charges, I was given the run-arounds. The last 2 times I called the dental offices, my phone calls were picked up but not answered. I could hear the background noise without anyone to talk to me. Way over priced for dental care i was quoted 10,000.00 for treatment plan. I was told My dental Coverage from my insurance did not cover deep cleaning services and got a 2nd opinion and in fact was covered completely without any copay out of pocket costs with another dental practice and dental works quoted me to pay over 2,000.00 for a deep cleaning after my insurance. I went there and got bad news about my teeth,I went 6 years without a dentist and now I need extensive workbut the real problem was with the alleged dentist Piccheti,after my x rays and the diagnosis,I found out I have a lot of problems,I was in excruciating pain and he prescribed me antibiotics and pain meds, unfortunately this idiot let his DEA license expire!he insisted that Walgreens would still fill my prescriptions but obviously they wouldn't! I spent hours driving around to other pharmacies and they all refused,he told me he'd renew it but at that point I decided of he was so negligent with his license renewal,I wouldn't let him ever touch me again! And no one ever called to apologize for this egregious behavior! Normally this place is awesome. I have always had positive interactions and have been going here for years without any issue. Out of the blue I get a call that there was someone trying to collect a debt for like $30. Ok, I have never not paid a bill in my life, so I try to call them back and I get transferred to some random call center where the broken English makes it impossible to communicate. What happened to the nice hometown Dentalworks in Skokie I'm used to? I went to this place after a year of not going to the dentist. They did my x rays and were talking and saying a lot and not including me. Then they told me I had 6 cavities!!!! They did not show me them on the x ray, nothing. I was shocked I go regularly and take care of my teeth. So I decided to have a second opinion. This dentist looked at my x rays and said they do not see any at all!!!!! They said they think he wanted to replace my silver fillings so he said I had cavities. What a scam!!! I haven't been to this dentist since 2021. They sent me a bill with a date of service 9/18/2023. The bill they sent was paid by my insurance in 2021 and I have the insurance check number with the amount and bill paid in full by the insurance company. I should have read all the reviews @ this location first before making an appointment. Im a new patient and made a 9am appointment. Arrived 10mins before my schedule just to be scolded by the front desk personnel's that I need to be transfer to their location first. I told them that they should have informed me that when I was making an appointment. The other person told me that she left me a voicemail message which I did not receive. The only thing that I received is a text message confirming my appointment. Well to sum things up it's the attitude and the tone of conversation, they could have explained things in a more civilized manner. Such a waste of time to get there. I've been seeing this office for many years and have always had a good experience. They really try hard to work with you on payments and billing. I would recommend this office. Sometimes they're behind when I get there for my appointment but I'm usually in pretty quickly. I missed one cleaning due to circumstances out of my control. I went in to get back on my cleaning schedule and was told I had to get a scaling done which requires two visits and a lot more money, I refused. Upon which I was told I had periodontal disease (which is complete BS) and intimidated, into getting the scaling. When I continued to refuse that procedure they told me my insurance wouldn't cover a regular cleaning until I had this scaling done. I walked, and it wasn't till later, after discussing this incident with my insurance that I found out they were lying to me about my insurance not covering a regular cleaning without doing a scaling. Sadly, this isn't the first time that I've been bullied into getting procedures that I didn't need at this office. I have had extensive work done at the Skokie location.and office experience has been great.

First of all I got switched by my insurance company to get my service done here at dental works. I should've read some of the reviews before I made an appointment. However, the first visit was ok, and had to reschedule the second appointment due to personal reasons. I did cancel however, but front desk tried to argue with me saying I didn't, but in the midst of our conversation she said she remembered me calling but the phone rang once. She was the most unprofessional person I've met as she proceeded to block future appointments if I don't pay a no show charge of $100. I declined to pay as I told her I did cancel with their service. She then was so rude as to give me a new date, but not a time. Today came and I'm still waiting. Worst service ever, and as far as payment goes who charges three different payments for one set of dentures. I'd never recommend this place to anyone. read more

I know that dental x rays are an important part of diagnosing oral health, however if you refuse to do a cleaning (which is the main part of preventative health) because the patient declines an x ray I think that is wrong. They said it was the law, but it is not. The ADA doesn't even recommend an x ray every year! If a patient doesn't want to get an x ray then you have them sign a waiver. Radiation is cumulative in your body, so no matter how small it can still affect you, especially if you get one every year like they want you to have. Honestly, it's all about the money unfortunately. I think if they do a cleaning and there seems to be a legitimate concern then yes, do an x ray. But if they won't do the cleaning, how do they even know there is a problem? Seems a little shady to me. This is disappointing that they are not flexible at all concerning this, especially when it concerns my kids. I don't worry about myself as much as my kids getting x rays more than they need to. They still have alot of baby teeth! There is nothing major going on with their mouths that they need it. Maybe these places can fool other people, but they are not fooling me! read more

Poor results. I came in for whiter veneers and they ended up giving me veneers matching my current teeth. The veneers actually had to be replaced as well the week after because they were falling off. They failed 3 implants and through each iteration of procedures I had a different surgeons (due to turn over) that had negative comments about the previous surgeons work (not bad mouthing but more "I don't know why they would do that"). Also, I requested X-Rays as I moved to a new dentist. They sent me X-Rays of other patients ? See attached. Since I have to get everything redone, I requested a refund and they are currently denying this so I have to proceed via other methods which is going to be a strung out process. Everyone was very friendly here. My dental hygienist Jennifer was very gentle and patient. She took time to make sure the x ray films for properly in my mouth without hurting me (I have a small mouth). My cleaning and flossing was painless, which means a great deal to me as I've had hygienists at other practices cut my gums up with floss. I had two fillings the same day, and Dr. Iqbal continually checked to ensure that I didn't feel any pain while drilling. She even stopped one filling to add more Novocain in a different place on the jaw as I was feeling discomfort. She was also friendly and genuinely seemed to care about my dental care. Upon leaving, I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Picchetti who was also very personable. All the staff make you feel welcome, and are professional but also open. Great place! read more

I came in to have a chipped tooth looked at, as my wedding day was 3 weeks away and I needed to have it fixed. The dentist was condescending and made me feel as though I was silly for being bothered by the chipped tooth. He also offered me no good options to fix my tooth, but told me I would need 1000's of dollars of procedures ASAP. Dr prisch took a crown off my tooth, drilled it out and then left it for three weeks in that condition, even though he admitted he could have extracted it. He just wanted to wait for the oral surgeon so he could charge me a much bigger fee. Then after two extractions on the same day, the oral surgeon gave me advil which is not intended for severe pain. When I called the office to ask for a stronger prescription, they said I would have to come in for another office visit so the doctor could see my teeth, as if that was going to determine whether or not I was really in pain. These people only care about money, not your comfort or oral health. Stay far away from this practice. They are total scam artists! read more

They are located in a strip mall with plenty of parking. Office hours are great for those who need early evening appointments. They have amazing staff working there that is so sweet and helpful! Originally, I was excited about coming to this location because of the great location. My excitement quickly changed when I received terrible customer service from the front desk receptionist whom was very rude, and acted as though I was a burden when asking simple questions. Beware! I went to this practice for a general cleaning for the first time, and it turned into a major scam. Good thing I did my research before agreeing to any treatment. It all started with a conversation with the tech, and he complimented my teeth. Then the dentist came in and said I did not have any cavities. So far no red flags... Then the hygienist came in to do a gum evaluation, and that's when she said I had periodontal disease. She said I needed a deep cleaning and asked me to book two appointments to get the treatment done. She said insurance might not cover all of it. The estimate came out to over 700 after insurance (if the claim goes through as estimated) . Thankfully, I felt like the story was not adding up, since I regularly see a dentist and orthodontist. I decided to get a second opinion with another dentist closer to my home, and the dentist and hygienist said I did not have any major issues with my gums! The gum evaluation was completely different than my experience at dental works. They only found two areas that needed a slightly deeper cleaning, and they definitely charged my insurance for a regular cleaning. My family of 5 has been going to DentalWorks Skokie for about 4 years now. Besides being so professional, the office is spotless. Appointments are readily available. The reason I give them 5 stars, is the way they work so well with your insurance. Before they do ANY work, you know exactly what the total charge will be and what your portion is. I do not recommend this practice. They want to bill for all services up front. They seem at first to be professional and caring with addressing your dental concerns But they are really phony. After a consultation with One of the "dental doctors" regarding a immediate dentures they claimed that their practice provided the services and all lab work etc was performed at the facilities.once the denture was recieved it was of poor quality for the price the denture was mis per portioned uneven at the base of the upper and lower gum lines and they saw nothing wrong with it. They gave me a name of some guy to go to... they were very vague as to what involvement this person had with the services they were paid for. After making connections with this person his demeanor was not receptive and wanted nothing to do with me or my denture. nice people .But When they send me bill after i have paid in full with my in writing plan and i ask before start of my dental removal. first time i heard from general doctor that this teeth is very hard to remove and I can not remove it , you have to go to oral surgeon . why general doctor start pulling my teeth? is he knows what he is doing? he should have referred me to the other doctor. Every time I go to this place they come up with new issues with my teeth and provide $500-$600 treatment plan. latest is bacterial reduction therapy and periodontal maintenance. I have seen other also review the same about periodontal plan. The way they said that my teeth is going to fall next day and every year same story. However my teeth is not causing any problem in day to day life. Of course I can see bacteria in my gums but I can definitely experience it or some symptoms should show if there is issue. However, never encountered any problem.This time they don't even do the normal cleaning and just regular check up check took 100 minutes or so. My advice is to always go for 2nd opinion or do your own research before going for there prescribed treatment plan. read more
