I'll do yoga anywhere with her. I brought my husband and he really enjoyed it. The space is so small I have no idea what it's like for a regular class. This location is not near where I live so probably wouldn't become my regular studio. Before entry, there's a bench where everyone leaves their shoes outside and then after you enter, there's someone with a screen to check you in and then there's plenty of gear: blocks, cushions, blankets for the massive amount of people we were that night which was pretty impressive. There is a bathroom And the space was clean and cozy. Very sweet. Super efficient space. I could see this being somebody's go to if this is in your neighborhood. I do recommend it, lots of charm in this little corner that has really become a somewhere now there's a there, there.

It gives me great pleasure to write to people interested in yoga. I think that Julia Lorimer is the…read morebest yoga instructor in the SF Bay Area. Her knowledge base is very broad and comprehensive. Yet for yoga class, all you need to do is listen carefully when she directs your body. I started a few years ago and I wasn't seeing results for over a year. The pandemic got in the way until we used Zoom. Julia gives us links to her classes. I made a point f taking her yoga class from a linked class and started a new yoga schedule, taking it at least 3's a week. My body transformed. I was so amazed that I developed "yoga butt." I am now stronger than ever. Julia has the amazing ability to combine her deep knowledge of a few schools of yoga, her deep understanding of kinesthetics, anatomy, physiology, and yoga poses that she brilliantly even sometimes invents. I have been in dance class since I was four. I have taken a ton of yoga classes all over the bay area and online. I will not take a class if it is not taught by Julia. One must attend class on a regular basis and once in class, just listen quietly and Julia will take you on the most exquisite yoga journey that will transform your body in an hour and a half. It is with the greatest pleasure that I urge you to participate in the best yoga workout you have ever experienced as you grow to understand your own body's strengths and limitations that will only expand if you remain rigorous with your practice. Please come and join us. Everyone welcomes you, especially Julia. Thank you, Melanie Hahn

Bridget welcomed them, too. Happy you're here. Glad you made it. Better with you here. Immediately, I liked that. Come as you are. All of us. ~ The Guide: Bridget Lavin * Love Flows Vinyasa If she led us somewhere that didn't feel good, Bridget said, listen to ourselves. Our breath. Our practice. Time for us. Seated cross-legged, we swept our arms overhead and back down. Snow angels. Without the snow. Then standing. Hands at heart. Sankalpa. What did we need? For me, Be here. Right now. Nothing new. Still needed. We moved. Made shapes. Breathed into them. Fluttered our lips in Downward Dog. Then Lion's Breath. Bridget kept bringing us back to what is. The "isness" of right now. After Sun B, Child's Pose. Through the window, a little boy called out: "Close your eyes and count to ten!" I smiled. And played along. Standing balances. Deep stretches. Before Savasana, Bridget thanked the teachers who passed this practice along, helping us move through the world with more ease. "What a gift." Truly. ~ The Story Behind the Guide: After class, I thanked Bridget for such a connecting, self-loving practice. She found yoga at thirteen, practicing with her mother. Her parents encouraged her to follow what she loved. So she did. Years later, the rest of us got to practice inside that decision. ~ The Space & Place: Upstairs, above a courtyard of shops. Then thanked the teachers who passed the practice along. That evening, my teacher was outside the window playing hide-and-seek.

The good: it's a clean studio in a nice location. There's lots nearby, tons of parking, and the…read morestudio offers specials like $300 for 3 months to keep you coming. Teacher Lauren Cohen is awesome - grounded, well balanced sequences, supportive and kind. There's lots of parking which makes in and out easy and stress free. The not-so-good: limited number of classes offered and teachers can be hit or miss. Estee Fletter was amazing and has sadly left the studio. A few vanilla flavored teachers (especially late afternoon) seem to just be going through the motions and seem only willing to engage with younger students (or male students...) Not as many offering as some of the other studios in Marin: one huge room that sometimes barely has 10-12 students and an outdoor deck that would be lovely for classes but sadly is seldom used. The whole space worked so well when it was YogaWorks and the space has so much potential if they'd only cut the large studio into two and offer moonlight or morning classes in the Sun deck. Instead, there's the one big studio that's mostly empty and only affords them to offer one or two classes in the morning and the afternoon. If there were more rooms and more offerings, I'd probably get an unlimited membership; but as it is now, it's just not worth it. In conclusion, it's great for a one off class now and then but doesn't (for me at least) offer a long term home for yoga.

Casey's class was energetic and a great workout - not to mention a lot of fun! Unlike a number of instructors I've seen, Casey seems very skilled. She impressed me by taking the time to ensure my reformer was set correctly and she answered my questions before the class started (and even asked me some to ensure I got the most out of the session). I really had the sense she cares about ensuring the class had a good workout, used correct posture/safety and that her clients feel they achieving their health and fitness goals. There are only six spaces in her classes, which is great from an attention perspective, but not so great as those spaces sometimes fill before I register. I'm hoping Casey will add a second Saturday class. She's becoming so popular at The Studio.

Show up for the classes, stay for the teachers, and become a part of The Studio Family…read more My partner and I joined because this is literally right down the street from us, they had a $45 unlimited special, and I wanted to try out a few studios before committing to anything long-term. They use the mind-body app to schedule so it is super easy to get into a class and reserve your spot. The teachers have their own unique styles. My first class was with Brittany - she teaches a power flow so get ready to sweat and travel through your flow multiple times. The room is heated but not on fire. My favorite things about her class are 1) she teaches with touch (you can opt-out if you want but OMG don't) and 2) she brings her authentic self to every class. My next class was with Peter and I guess I am a little crazy but I took the classes back to back each week for a total of over 2 hours of yoga in a night. Peter is a laid-back and unassuming dude who quickly impresses you with his immense knowledge of the position names, ways to improve your form, and how to do positions you never thought you could (think high crows, inversions, and interesting stands). He teaches an open class however so it's perfect for people of all skill levels - just be open to at least trying something past your comfort zone. I also took a truly impressive Iyengar class with Barbara. She has a ton of training from India and we connected because of the time I spent in Rishikesh (birthplace of Yoga). Her class is 75 min and you really only do 5-6 poses in total... but you do 5-6 versions of each pose and work your way up to really finding your own body's proper form. This class is perfect for any skill level including people who have injuries or surgeries since she can walk you through a number of variations to help. For the more advanced, get ready to activate muscles you didn't know existed and figure out why that one pose never felt right - because she will get you in shape quickly. I am missing a few other instructors and I would be remiss to not mention the staff and owners. They are super nice, have a really cute dog visit once and a while, and keep the place really clean and approachable. They have showers, mats, and all the extras if you need that sort of thing. Thank you STUDIO! I'll update the review when I get back from traveling to see how it changes over the year.

I actually loved going to the Dailey method. The exercises were challenging and the teachers were…read morevery kind and patient. Some of them were really fun! I've always enjoyed a structured workout and this is what TDM gives you. But like any studio anywhere, there are always pros and cons. PROS: - Clean studios - friendly staff - there is a shower and a type of day care for kids - challenging exercises that can be modified. - free parking CONS: - there's only one shower and bathroom so it can get packed real quick. - the space (at least in Corte madera) is very small and tight. - they're not a lot of day care options available. - not as many classes as some would like, especially in the evenings. - not a very diverse clientele- but that's not the studios fault (at least I hope it's not) - parking is limited - VERY EXPENSIVE. And they are always finding ways to charge you extra. For example, there's a no show fee of $15/class. I get that they charge to encourage you to go to class because another person could've take your spot if you canceled but they don't actually have that many people going in at once. Every time I went in, there was always space. For unlimited bar classes, I believe it costs $179 but if you want to engage in unlimited cycling and barre classes, the price jumps to over $200. I understand that these classes aren't suppose to be cheap because you are paying for the instructors time and the studio space but yesh, that's quite steep, especially since it's not a Pilates studios that requires a specific machine or any at all. The introductory package (21 days of unlimited barre and cycling) cost $75! I think that's what I'm most put off by. They are still charging so much for someone just to try it out and they don't even give you the full month to try it out. I have decent job in the Bay Area that allows me to pay for that but I still don't want to throw down that much. I gave it a try but I don't think I'd be going back. I've seen a lot of other studios that make a greater commitment to their students health at a much lesser cost and I think I'll support those types of studio. For example, Red Dragon Yoga studios also costs over $100 (I think it's around $129) for unlimited studio use but they have an intro deal of $30 for unlimited yoga at any of their locations. They also (as far as I know) don't threaten students with extra costs if they suddenly can't show up. Again, there are pros and cons to everything so I'd recommend trying at least once, that is if you want to spend money here.

Last note: I didn't really discover the value of it fully till I did a 30 day thing and went to 18 classes. I took…read moreone class with her there right before the Corporate TakeOver (!!!) and followed her - now at the Masonic Hall in Larkspur (and the Mill Valley Rec. Center). I saw ONE bad review of Evlaleah, and frankly, that person was on another planet... seriously. Evlaleah is one of the most intuitive, gentle, KNOWLEDGEABLE souls I have come across in many years (since the old Primal Therapy days in Marin) ! Her classes are extremely reasonable ($75 for 5 = $15 each, or $21 for drop-in, but that would only be once), long (90 minutes, sometimes longer - but it NEVER feels like a long class), and her sense of what each individual can and can't/should and shouldn't do is uncanny. I have brought/introduced friends to a class and she reads them so fast - it's amazing ! She puts you at ease, and at the same time pushes you beyond the limits you thought you had... without you knowing it ... exactly. When I started, my knees were very painful in sitting positions (where you put your feet near your butt on the floor). She taught me how to do a temporary fix on that, and then, damn, 3 months later I could bend BACKWARDS in that position (hadn't been able to do that in 30 years... I'm 56). And that's just the beginning... VERY cool woman (very high, in so many ways), and I recommend anyone reading this to take 1 or 2 classes just to see what real, healing yoga is all about ! http://web.mac.com/evlaleah/evlaleah.com/home_.html This may sound like a commercial, and it is... an unpaid, unsolicited raving review of this woman and her knowledge.

The workout is very challenging, but low impact, so you can do it several times a week while saving all your joints! Before I realized the studio had re-opened, I tried out Pure Barre. While the class itself at Pure Barre was ok, there was zero interaction between the instructor and students. At Bear Flag Fitness, the instructors are continually helping with form to maximize your results and keep you safe. They also keep the energy up with their encouragement, and they know the name of every single student. It's definitely more of a "community" here. I have tried a lot of different workouts over the past few decades...and this is the only one I've been able to stick to for over 3 years--partly because of the community, and partly because of the undeniable results!
