I recently saw Doctor Johnathan Macy and I was so impressed with his professional manner. He was highly recommended to me and I will continue to go to him. His staff is terrific, on the telephone and in person and that truly makes a difference. read more

Office is great! Best ophthalmologist at cedars towers. Have been going to him for years. A must go to doctor for yearly check up's or any eye issues, glasses and contacts. Staff makes you feel welcomed when you arrive and the technician's that call you in before seeing Dr. Macy are great and make you feel welcome also. If i could give them 10 stars i would! Our family has been under Dr Macy's care for decades. I was born with eye issues and had difficulty finding good care when I moved to LA, When on the advice of a co-worker I found Dr Macy. I immediately knew he was our eye specialist we could depend on. The entire staff is just as wonderful. Peter has an amazing level of patience and is very knowledgeable person when it comes to eyeglasses. Dr Macy performed an eye surgery for my husband. He put him at ease -- not a simple thing when an adult has not had eye surgery before. Dr Macy explained everything and answered every question setting the tone as the most calm event ever. read more

I have been going to Dr. Macy for 30 years! He is always very knowledgable and professional. In addition to being a professioknal, he is kind and really cares about all of his patients! It is a pleasure to have him as my opthamologist! read more

Dr Macy is very personable and his staff is great. Just had cataract surgery two days ago and can already see much better. Everything is sharper. Can't wait for 2nd eye in 10 days!! read more

I didn't even get around to seeing Dr Macy however this review is very warranted just based on his incredible staff. Bernie is a literal angel who went above and beyond with a medical emergency I had, she is the most empathetic and kind person which is rare to see these days sadly. What happened with me is a long story but based on the incredible care of Dr Macy's office staff Bernie and Susie I can only imagine Dr Macy is just as wonderful. The positive reviews here are not surprising this is a diamond in the rough office and I cant thank Bernie enough for her kindness during my time of panic and need. read more

I received appropriate care from Dr. Knezenic at this practice but give them only a 3 because I was told they would accept my insurance and later received a bill for over $700. Be prepared for unexpected and unexplained charges. read more

To begin with, I want to thank the staff for their kindness and their willingness to help me. I was very pleased with the nurse who performed the assessment. In addition to being very kind, Dr. Jonathan was able to accurately diagnose my eye issue. read more

This doctor is a letch. I had my legs crossed when he came into the room to do my eye exam. Instead of ASKING me to not cross them, HE PUT HIS HAND ON THE INSIDE OF MY THIGH TO UNCROSS THEM! I felt violated. I should have reported him. Ladies - beware! read more

I have been seeing Dr. Macy since the early-1970s before he had his own office. Lovely man, brilliant doctor and has such a sweet and kind demeanor. Today, he took me in on an emergency basis with what THANKFULLY turned out to be not such a big deal. He was gracious, kind and helpful as always. He cares, he listens carefully and answers questions honestly. So happy I found him in the 70s. The eye glass folks - very nice and helpful but pricey for those of us with high prescriptions. They offer low to high cost options and don't hard sell, but it's not walmart, so don't expect those prices. All in all, lovely people and you will be happy with the care you receive. Expect to wait when it's not an emergency because great docs are hard to find and become quite popular. Bring a good book along and enjoy the break in your day. read more

Dr. Macy and his staff are the best! I have been seeing him for many years for my glasses and for the occasional eye issue. He always solves any problems. I considered lasik, but we both agreed that I could wait, he is so honest and really wants the best for his patients. read more

Dr. Macy is very attentive, informative, takes his time with you and doesn't make you feel rushes. Office is conveniently located in the West Medical Tower attached to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. However, the gem in the office is Peter, his amazing optician. Peter has a great eye for frames, is able to assist those of us who have a difficult time making a decision. He has great insight and a discerning eye. A great combination to have!!!! read more

He could not measure my eyeball for cataract surgery then charged Medicare $1,000 for the procedures. He may have done a refraction but never gave me a prescription then billed me for something I never received. Then he sent me to a total unprofessional M.D. Gosh how do they get away with this? Rafi Israel who had a filthy office, never took a medical history or asked me what medications I take, which is unheard of and pitched an eyelid lift and eyebrow surgery to me and told me I have glaucoma, which I do not have. If Macy cannot measure your eyeball would you trust him to do cataract surgery on you, I say absolutely not. A complaint has been filed with Medicare. He charged close to $1,000 for services not received. read more

Terrible bedside manner, made things worse, pushy to sell his glasses at the front which is the bulk of his business $ and had recommended unnecessary procedure just to charge insurance which made that eye worse. Do not go there ... read more

Dr. Macy was nice, and my exam was basically uneventful. I got my prescription and a stern reminder to come every year (I will, promise!) and was on my way to the in-house optician. Peter, the Optician, is beyond awesome. I am extremely near-sighted (-9.5) which means my glasses untouched resemble Coke bottles. Even when I would pay to have them thinned, polished, and whatever else science crap they offered, they would still remind me of something Mr. Magoo might own. I was never comfortable wearing my old glasses to work or social settings. Which meant I wore them less and wore my contacts constantly, which is not good for my poor little eyes. It also meant shopping for my expensive prescription was never any fun. I could try on all the Ray-Bans and Gucci frames I wanted, but they would always end up looking thick and gross. Peter assured me he could do much better than my old glasses and he really came through. He took the time to help me try on a lot of pairs. He did advise me as to which ones he thought would work better for my very high prescription, but he had confidence he could make them look good. And he did. The lenses don't stick out, they don't glare, and they feel great. I love my new glasses, and that's not something I thought I would ever say. He was also a total dear about working with my vision insurance to find out when it was effective, how much I'd save, etc. I saved $395 on them, which was so rad. Peter is a really amazing guy who is good at what he does, he really cares, and it shows. I couldn't be happier with how my glasses turned out. Thank you, Peter. You are the best. read more

Dr. Macy saved my eyes and I couldn't be more thankful. He is so knowledgable and is really experienced at what he does. I highly recommend him for an ethical eye expert. His fees are not low but is well worth the price. read more

Pls do give this doctor anymore business. They are so cheap. They are making money hand over fist and yet they are so worried if you ask them for something that is proprietary such as a pupil distance. They won't give it out because they want you to buy the eyeglasses from them. These are my eyes and I feel it's my right to have all the information that pertains to me. Besides the fact that when you go they don't know you from Adam and they put you in a room you see one doctor and you see Dr. Macy for all of maybe 10 min. Total $345. Yes of course the insurance pays but even so this office is very unfriendly. Do yourself a favor go elsewhere. read more

I had an excellent experience with Dr. Macy. One day I woke up with some kind of eye infection, so I went to urgent care. They told me it was pink eye and dispensed some antibiotic drops. When nothing changed within 3 days, I realized there must be something more serious going on and that urgent care must have misdiagnosed. I called a trusted friend who immediately recommended Dr. Macy. I called his office immediately and was given an appointment within 3 hours. After filling out the obligatory paperwork, I was taken right in. I met with one of his assistants who asked a few questions and gave me a quick standard vision test ("close you right eye and read the letters you can see out loud.") Shortly after wards, Dr. Macy came in and met with me. He asked some questions, and performed an exam. He quickly diagnosed that I had a viral eye infection (vs. the bacterial infection that urgent care diagnosed). He explained that he would be putting me on a course of treatment to heal the infection and eliminate the dendrite in my eye and this would include antiviral and steroid drops that I would administer daily. This was a stubborn infection and he explained it might be months before the dendrite shrunk and disappeared. Sure enough, after 5 follow up visits over 4 months my eye has healed completely. I leave Dr. Macy's care a very satisfied customer. Dr. Macy was always very professional, no-nonsense and answered all my questions. I always felt I was getting a superior level of care. Also, I was very appreciative that he charged me much lower fees that his standard professional fees throughout the course of treatment (I had mentioned to him that I am working for a fledgling start-up company and I'm uninsured, so I would be paying directly with a credit card). Additionally, his staff was always very nice and helpful, and I never had to wait more than 10 minutes past my scheduled appointment time to see the doctor. FYI - Cedars Sinai parking tip: you can save yourself a few dollars on parking if you park at the nearby Beverly Center - it's a short 5 min walk to the office from there. For example, parking in Cedars' lots is $10 for 2 hours, but only $2 for 2 hours at Beverly Center. read more

This was the second time I saw Dr. Macy and I plan to go again. He is professional, clear in his speech, and easy to understand. Even though my prescription is older, he said he saw no reason to change it. But he did want to keep an eye on another matter. He explained the difference in a few procedures done for older people like myself in a way that was intelligent and non-threatening. read more

Took my lady here. She's a nurse so we know to expect great bedside manner amd a doctor who respects your time and spends a few minutes with you to get to know you're condition. Dr. Macy was all of those things and more. We weren't waiting for much more than 10-15 minutes, and when he saw my wife, he asked questions and was patient with ours. Dig him! Everyone in the office was really nice, too. read more

To warn you --I had a horrible experience with Dr. Macy, he was condescending, rude, and honestly seemed to not care about my experience or eye health at all. Not to mention months later I was billed $400 for this visit to find out that it was because they wrote down my insurance ID incorrectly. read more

I've been seeing ( no pun intended) Dr Macy for over 20 years. I have been satisfied with the service and care that I get. He has seen me through eye infections, a cut cornea, and even did Lasik surgery ten years ago. My vision is perfect except, of course, the natural aging that requires me to wear reading glasses. That's where Peter comes in, in the state of the art ophthalmology center. He has a very keen eye for the frames that will best suit my face. I always get compliments. The selection of frames is outstanding. Hip and current there is never a time that I haven't fallen in love with something. Even my sons, ages 20 & 17 refuse to get their glasses anywhere else. If you are looking ( again no pun intended) for quality eye care, be it exams, contacts, surgery or glasses this is the best place to visit. read more

Dr. Macy has been my opthamologist for many, many years. Because of my cataract, Dr. Macy performed a lens implant in one eye (I was a good candidate for mono-vision) over 20 years ago! Last year, he did the other eye. Two surgeries, more than 20 years apart, same doctor. Result: the best vision I've ever had as an adult. His support staff is top-notch. It's easy to book an appointment, and there's minimal wait time. I've always found Dr. Macy to be knowledgeable, thorough, a good listener, and warm and engaging with a pleasant sense of humor. read more

Yesterday I had my second annual checkup with Dr Macy. He is a knowledgable, experienced, detail oriented, caring, reliable, honest, efficient, punctual and fair. This guy only cares about cash, not patient care. after keeping me waiting for 40 minutes, he spent five minutes with me (and the guy doing the refraction spent even less time - i don't know if the prescription is accurate). when dr macy was done, he walked me to the area where he sells glasses. i told him that i was not ready to buy glasses. i walked over to pay the refraction fee and the optometrist walked over and asked me if i wanted to see glasses. i don't care if a salesman approaches me in as store but at a doctors's office? ugh. stay away! read more
