We had Jon Wayne out 3 different times because the system wasn't initializing. The a/c would run fine and then would shut off for hours. They installed the system originally 3 years ago, and had serviced it since. The most recent Jon Wayne tech had to call his tech support for answers and then wanted to "try" replacing the blower motor control module for $1,000. If that didn't work they were going to "try" replacing the blower motor. We had a lady tech out from another a/c company who knew exactly how to test our system without having to call anyone. She determined it was the "smart" thermostat and replaced it. From what we learned from this experience, the thermostat should be tested first with a problem like ours. We also learned that Jon Wayne techs make commission off labor and parts. Though they did an excellent job installing the system, I would not recommend them for fixing issues. read more

Dissatisfied Customer Review - Jon Wayne Service Company My wife and I purchased a brand-new A/C system from Jon Wayne in 2021 for over $10,000. We trusted that we were investing in quality and professionalism. Unfortunately, our experience since then has been very disappointing. About 2 1/2 years after installation, the system stopped working properly due to a clogged drainage pipe. We were charged what I consider an outrageous service call fee, and instead of focusing solely on resolving the issue, the technician attempted to sell us a yearly membership package. Roughly two years later, the same drainage issue happened again. This time, I handled the clog myself. On 02/27/2026, we called Jon Wayne out again because the system was not cooling properly. The technician arrived on time and diagnosed a failed TXV (thermal expansion valve). However, we were quoted nearly $2,000 to repair it -- an extremely high price in my opinion. Once again, we were pressured to purchase a $300-per-year membership package. Thankfully, we decided to get a second opinion. I am very glad we did. A licensed A/C professional from another company informed us that the system installed by Jon Wayne was mismatched, and "the technician from Jon Wayne did not have common courtesy to let us know about the mismatch. His concern was about money and a membership with Jon Wayne." Anyway, the outside unit was a "3000" unit and the inside unit was a "4000" unit. According to this technician, that combination is not compatible and should not have been installed that way. I'm not an HVAC expert, but when a licensed professional says that is a major problem and fixed the problem a lot less, that raises serious concerns. We ultimately went with the second company and paid significantly less for the repair. If this happened to us after spending over $10,000, it makes me wonder how many other customers may be overcharged or unknowingly dealing with improperly matched systems. When Jon Wayne installed a brand new HVAC system in 2018 they included a second drier attacted to the unit in the crawl space. JW serviced the unit in 2019 and 2020. In 2021 and 2022 I have been replacing the filters myself. In 2024 the system stopped cooling. My homeowner warranty sent a A/C tech out to repair it. He told me that part of the problem was that JW added a dryer to the system that was not required. I notified JW about the issue. The JW tech they sent out charged me $1,500 to fix the system that is still under warrant. My system stop cooling last week Aug 14th my homeowner warranty sent out another tech he told me that this additional dryer was still there and JW never removed it the last time they were out. I am calling JW again to speak with management to see if the next time they send someone they remove the additional dryer from the upstairs unit. Jon Wayne is a ripoff. Well, we called to our sewer lines flushed. The cost was 327 dollars. The technician ran a camera first, found a break in the line and said he couldn't do the work. We were still charged for the work that was never done. Their prices are absolutely OUTRAGEOUS and they will try to bully you into a sale with shady sales tactics. This company is absolutely horrid and predatory. They did this to my wife when I left to work and now we're stuck with a 30k bill that I was later told could've been done for 9k. Sharing my experience for consumer awareness. Jon Wayne Service Company installed my water heater a little less than six years ago. Recently, I experienced an issue with the breaker tripping and was informed that the lower heating element had failed. When I asked about warranty coverage, the technician told me that the heating elements and thermostat were not covered and included those parts in the repair quote. To verify, I contacted the warranty company directly and was told that the parts are in fact covered under the manufacturer's warranty. I then called back and requested a supervisor to review the situation. The supervisor advised me that Jon Wayne does not work with warranty companies, even for equipment they originally installed. I was also informed that instead of honoring the manufacturer's warranty, I would need to pay for the parts or enroll in their club membership program. This was both disappointing and unexpected. I was further told that since the change in ownership, the company operates more as a corporate entity rather than the personable company it once was. I am assisting my elderly mother with her AC and right now I have a portable AC set up for her but it still gets hot for her in the day time and it's been over a week we have been waiting for a call back from a Jon Wayne supervisor. The inside coil has a leak and a supervisor won't call me back. It is sad that they treat their clientele like this. She purchased the unit from them thinking they would stand by their products and their workmanship. 2 years ago it was discovered it had a coil leak but the Jon Wayne service tech said he could not pin point where the leak was. I know nothing about AC's but I watched him as he searched for the leak with his electric leak detector. He told my mother that she had an option that may not work but if it did work it would hold the refrigerant and that he had just used it at his home and it worked. She agreed and it worked. Fast forward 2 year till now and apparently it didn't hold. We had another company come out and look at it that a friend recommended, I find out that the sealant was a temporary fix and should not have been done. That the coil was under warranty till 2029 and the proper thing to have been done was to replace the evaporator coils. He also said that the fan needed to have the relay replaced because it was running continuously when the AC unit was off (part is also under warranty). So my mom was convinced to pay over $1,000 (probably closer to $2,000) for leak sealant and refrigerant that lasted 2 years and leaked back into the atmosphere. She even paid for the membership that she never used. It was described as a permanent fix as long as it sealed in the beginning. The new company did find the leak within 5 minutes and it was in the middle of the fins. Somewhere the tech did not look for 2 years ago. I did call Jon Wayne and requested for a supervisor to call me but no one ever did. I did get an individual named Justin that said he was a field supervisor (the Jon Wayne Operator said he was a Quality Control Supervisor and his business card said he was a Service Tech) but he said he could not make any calls or decisions. He found the leak where the Jon Wayne tech was looking after he sprayed something on it and it started bubbling. It was the same coil that the other company had found in the middle of the fins. I asked him if he would check in the fins area and he said that his tools that Jon Wayne has them buy won't reach that area. I was surprised that a company sets up their staff with tools that doesn't allow them to search all areas for leaks like the other company did. I am thinking this is why the service tech didn't offer the part as a warranty part because he could not pin point the leak. If that is the case they cheated my mom out of the opportunity to get the part thru warranty and she would not be where she is today with all the refrigerant leaked out (5 pounds and probably more now that she has been waiting another week for the supervisor to call her back). The Quality Control Supervisor that came out said he didn't know why the other company said there was something was wrong with the fan. Yet it was running on Auto with the system off. From what I understand the HVAC fan does not typically work on "auto" when the AC is off. The fan is designed to run in conjunction with the heating or cooling cycles of the AC unit. When the AC is off and the fan is set to "auto", the fan will not operate. So it needs a new relay switch. It should run in circulate. That may be incorrect but I also researched it and found the same answers on the internet. I wasn't allowed to get a copy of the estimate for some reason. He said what they do is allow customers to take photos of only the price it is going to be. Plus he said it was going to be only 5 pounds of refrigerant? Is that to keep the estimate low? Wouldn't it have to be emptied to replace the coils, so 8 pounds would be better to tell the customer or what ever it takes to fill it up? I was told not to expect a call back and if I did get one not to expect any satisfaction from the Supervisor. How professional is that? I guess that individual that told me that was correct because I have called back a few times and they had assured me that someone would call but no supervisor has. I already know that if they do they will say, ok what do you expect us to do or what do you see the outcome being? Seems like part of their training. read more

Jon Wayne installed our new air conditioner in 2011. At that time their customer service was great! Their maintenance service was exceptional. We were able to schedule our preferred time without any problems. Their service technicians were always prompt, friendly, professional, knowledgable, well trained to answer any questions or concerns we might have. We were so pleased with this company we enrolled in their platinum membership, which included priority. Unfortunately, for whatever reason . they no longer honor priority. We are still paying for platinum membership. Throughout our years with Jon Wayne service has gotten worse with each year. When we call with issues, they promise to make it right. Every year it's a problem now. A recent service call this year, Nov 2025, my husband and I scheduled our water softener rebed, I had scheduled almost 6 mos in advance to coincide with our HVAC maintenance appt. I called Jon Wayne the day before to confirm our water softener appt., confirmed rebedding of our water softener. The customer service rep stated all set to go, it was scheduled. No worries. When the technician arrived he told us he had no clue why he was there. He did not know anything about rebedding the water softener. He said he couldn't do it, didn't have the truck or tools needed to do the work. i attempted to reschedule the rebedding. This is a water softener package we purchased from Jon Wayne to include a rebedding after 5 years or more. I asked to speak with a manager to voice concerns and hopefully a manager could get it right. I called 3 days ago and still no manager call back. I called again today. This time I asked who would I speak with above manager level. The service rep told me a director or the owner. I asked her to escalate my call further, I have yet to receive a call back. I rated this company a 1, that's the lowest rating offered. I would rate it much lower than 0. I would not ever recommend this company. I scheduled an appointment for a yearly maintenance inspection, and was told that on the day of my appointment a technician would be at my home between Noon and 4p.m. At 4:20p.m. on service day they had not shown up, so I called and spoke with the scheduler who had the worst attitude, I was not rude to her and just wanted to make sure they hadn't forgotten me. The Scheduler stated that they were not coming today because they were busy with other customers and wanted to come the following week. I said no thanks I'll find another company to do business with. But as far as I am concerned, Jon Wayne is the reason the phrase "You get what you pay for" exists. Whenever these folk leave our house, I am 100% sure that they have give us first class service. We spent a bucket of money with them and have regretted not one cent. We have gotten a new HVAC system from them. PRV (Pressure relief valve) that the builder failed to install. Duct cleaning. In October 2024, my 80-year-old father, who was showing signs of dementia, signed a $23,000 15-year contract with Jon Wayne, and they refused to see the error in their ways. I tried to stop it while I was on maternity leave with a 3-month-old, and Jon Wayne didn't budge. It even reached the owner, or so they said, and he still didn't make it right. My father passed away this month, and I'm in disbelief that I spent precious time trying to get this company to do the right thing. Now, less than two years later, a technician named Tyler tells me I should have purchased a warranty and that a subpar unit was installed from the start. What's worse is that this company appears to be taking advantage of the elderly--selling overpriced systems without offering proper protection, then blaming the customer when things fall apart. After a brief and very informative conversation with Sienna, I was given the brand name and model number for my systems filter and I was able to research and perform the repair myself. I also got a follow up call from Matty to see how things went. This is a major service company that's be around for years and they were not pushy or demanding that I must have a technician come out to replace my filter. I needed to get a garbage disposal replaced due to leaking. Bobby Terrell from Jon Wayne Serv. Co. was the plumber sent and even though I was the last call of a long day for him he was friendly, cheerful and always very professional. He was able to change out the disposal in less than 30 minutes making sure it was in good working order and explained details about the warranty for the disposal. Good fair price . The initial sale was amazing (should've known it wouldn't last). We spent 30k on a brand new unit. 1.5 year later and we find ourselves on day 8 without an AC, now being told it may be another week "and if we don't hear back from them by Friday, for US to call them again". Do not be tricked by their initial caring demeanor. It obviously doesn't seem to last. I have health issues, we have 2 senior dogs and are in Texas. It's been pushing 90 degrees in our home and they can't provide a solution to a 'Cadillac of units' that THEY recommended and we fell for. I am at a loss. Jon Wayne is the company that installed the unit, now they're saying the unit 'is grounded' and 'is like a heart that stopped beating'. Crazy that it's supposed to be a top of the line unit that they compare to a Cadillac for the AC world, yet it stopped functioning after a year. Daikin is made in Japan. The technicians don't know how to get to the settings menu without calling their tech team. If you all don't know how to use a unit, WHY ARE YOU SELLING THEM? We were told you all recently started selling Daiken, but when I asked why updated parts needed to be shipped I was told 'because the unit is older'. Not to mention the part was initially coming from 'within Texas', but now we are told it's coming from Kentucky. Continuous different answers and explantations. Through Angi (formerly Angie's List), Jon Wayne was recommended together with another HVAC company. Both called almost immediately after my contact with Angi. The Jon Wayne technician that came to assess our HVAC unit started by checking the outdoor compressor. After a few minutes, he told me that before he proceeded with the assessment of our needs, he said that we should replace the electrical panel either through them or on our own. Now, we've had the electrical panel for 15 years with no problems and he claimed that it could be a fire hazard. I told him thank you for his time and sent him on his way. When a person starts making you spend more money before he even checks your HVAC, it's going to be a very expensive system. I cut my losses and literally cut him loose. It's not so much that we need the AC, it's the fact that they start you off spending your money so that, in my humble opinion, pad their bill. That turned me off. I'm Still in shock with the conversation I had earlier with a sales person trying to schedule a free estimate???? So we are purchasing a house and I was calling around for some free estimates, this company was the first one that I called, I did gave them all the details and what I was looking for and when I wanted the service done, I stated that I wanted the service done either this October or November, I also mentioned that I was interested in getting prices for a generator in case we ever go through what we did two years ago with the Freeze. Well believe it or not , I did receive a call back about 5 o'clock today from the same lady I spoke to earlier and she tells me that she spoke to the manager and stated that the (starting) price for an AC central heating would be about $18,000 and up!!! and that the generator would start at about $24,000 and and up!! The house that we purchase is a little bit over 800 ft so my respond was, where are you getting these prices from, She then asked me if that was within my budget? and if it was then we can continue with the free estimate I was in shock I couldn't believe what she was telling me, is this the way they run their business. They had no idea what the house look like or what the house needed. I called Jon Wayne on Sat, Dec 24th after I had a outside spigot burst. They scheduled me for Wed, Dec 28th from noon to 4pm - which I get because of the freeze. I told them I didn't have water, due to the pipe burst. Took a day off of work to make sure I was home when they were available. The date prior to the appointment I confirmed via text and the date of the appointment I called at 11:32am to reconfirm - they told me everything was great and a plumber would be coming from noon to 4pm. At 1:38pm on the days of the appointment, a guy called and said they needed to reschedule me to Jan 11th. I asked him why the change and he said the people answering the phone only booked the appointment, but he was actually in scheduling and that was the first available appointment. I reminded him that I didn't have water and took they day off of work - his responses that I wasn't in their loyalty program and the 11th was the first available. I booked another plumber for Friday the 30th and they showed up at 8:30 and completed the project by 10am. I have a contract with John Wayne, AC. I feel it was extremely misrepresented. I purchased an AC unit from them exactly to the month five years ago. They have serviced it regularly. I have maintained my monthly payment for the contract, I changed the filter as I was instructed once a year, I put vinegar in the unit every month as I was instructed. But about Pushing air. I thought that it was still under warranty, it's only five years old! They proceed to explain to me that they have no their units however because I have a monthly plan I pay for, but I would get 20% off of any work done today.! What?? The young man that came was extremely polite, professional, and and he explained everything clearly employees have always been exceptional, however, I guess it's Mr. Dan wrinkle the owner that I have a problem with. And I sent him an email, but I have not heard from anyone. I would expect, that someone who sold me an AC unit five years ago stand behind the product that they and not try to get more money out of their customers. The options that were offered to me from $513 to over $2000. I was also informed that I had been using the wrong filter, and that was because at the very first Maintenance visit of my unit, I was offered the filter at over $100! However, the technician was very kind and told me I could just go to Home Depot and buy the 25 x 16 x 4" for about 30 bucks and that's what I've been doing every year. But now, this technician was telling me that was incorrect and that unless they installed the filter whatever work they did now would not be under the warranty. I'm disabled, I live on Social Security, and I'm barely able to keep up the monthly payment on my contract and now they're telling me I have to come up with at least another $500! Then tried to charge me $150 for the service call. Had to talk to the manager to get the charge removed. I believe they take advantage of their customers, especially those that don't deal with these types of issues well. read more
