The landlord, Rohan, really cares about his pub. The drinks selection is excellent and varied. I enjoy going there for the cider as there is always Addlestones and Stowford Press, plus a guest cider. The real ales are also changed regularly, the current selection escapes me, plus there are the regular lagers and wines. The menu is a fairly simple selection of burgers, waffles, and the traditional fare of steaks, chicken, and salads. The burgers (handmade on the premises) are to die for! The Crown burger is my favourite containing stilton and bacon, and comes with hand made chunky chips. Yummy! For music buffs there are also music nights with bands of all types. Blues, jazz, rock, you name it there will be a night coming up for you. This is a real community pub which really should be visited.

I'll explain why and try to be concise. The cuisine is exceptional. There's a good selection of quality drinks. The service is excellent. The atmosphere is always friendly and welcoming -- the sort of place where complete strangers tend to strike-up conversation. The location is perfect, overlooking the Village Green, with a big beer garden behind, and a vast playing field behind that. It's a lovely village, nestled in the gently-undulating farming landscape of rural north-east Herts -- no wonder Braughing was recently awarded the prestigious "Village of the Year" accolade. The pub's menu always includes the best of local produce, from locally-reared beef to local pork sausages, alongside popular country pub dishes. (Braughing village is famous for, among other things, the delicious local sausages, and this is a good place to sample them.) Did I mention the pies? Main coarses are about £11.50, which I consider fantastic value. If you compare this to other pubs where we have paid £8.95 and had a couple of slices of fatty meat and hard nearly uncooked veg, I would rather pay the little extra and have a superior meal in excellent surrounds, try it for yourself, but remeber to book as it is very popular, must be the good food
