My local doesn't get 5 stars because it is my local, I make it my local because this place is…read moreworthy of 5 stars! Not my closest pub, being situated down a very steep hill from the Broadway, but that keeps the clientele as local people even on a Saturday night when the rest of Muswell Hill gets invaded by the young and "trendy" of Barnet, Crouch End and Wood Green. So why does it get 5 stars? Firstly, it is a lovely little one storey detched building with seats all around outside. 3 TVs inside and 2 outside, but not for one moment do these seem an anachronism in a quaint old pub. They show sport all the time, but quietly in the background so it is never intrusive. They have a jukebox (9 songs for £2, so I often put a whole album on while I play pool). They have a pool table, you play under a winner stays on system (rightly so), but usually have it to yourself in the day. In the summer there is an IMMENSE BBQ, I had a Cumberland Roll, which is a hotdog made from huge real cumberland sausages, for £2.50, awesome value.. I was stuffed. They don't do any other kind of food, but if they did, more people would come down from the broadway, and make this pub too busy, and less local, so for that reason it doesn't lose its fifth star, it earns it. Did I mention the Landlord is a lovely man, never seen him behind the bar, but he goes round smiling and laughing. There's always someones dog outside with a bowl of water or bag of crisps. This has everything you would write down if making a checklist for pubs... Except food, but we decided that was a good thing right? The mathematics: patio + relaxed atmos + juke box + pool + Sky + BBQ + a dog in the corner + lovely landlord always around = eight stars Shame I can only give 5.

Really, really nice place, this one…read more The first thing you notice when you walk in is actually what you've just walked past to get there. There's a lovely outside wooden patio with tables and a BBQ on the weekends. It's on a quiet road at the bottom of the hill so the road doesn't dampen the atmosphere one bit as it's so quiet. Inside, there is plenty of room and a good pub feel about it rather than a commercial bar vibe which I hate. There's an awesome juke box, which every place should have, in my opinion, and a well kept pool table right beolow the big flat screen which shows Sky Sports. The only downer is that other than the BBQ, there's no real food menu as such, other than the usual bar snacks. So, here's the math(s): patio + relaxed atmos + juke box + pool + Sky - food = four stars

The Mossy Well - To order food and spirits, you go to the bar. Very good customer service

The service is often quite swift and amicable. It's a wonderful and lovely place for a drink and dinner with friends while watching the game!

Fabulous Weatherspoons pub that has been converted from a former Dairy although I wish there was a…read morebetter smell inside (This goes for all Weatherspoons pubs and maybe pubs in general). The pub has a great bar with lots of variety and as expected the drinks and the food are affordable. The pub retains the look of a industrial building but has been modernised to be comfortable. It is quite spacious and has lots of daylight streaming in from the large sky lights. Upstairs is more comfortable to eat with friends or family but generally they have tried to retain a Victorian feel to the place. There is also a beer garden that is bright and with many alcoves to hide and enjoy time with friends and family. Weatherspoons food is decent and standard throughout the chain with of standard pub food such as burgers and the standard English food. Service at the pub pub was excellent with the staff being attentive and our food arriving quite quickly. The price was exceptional for anywhere in London with drinks and a main for two for £12. If you are popping into Alexandra Park and need to get off at Muswell Hill Broadway you should start with a drink here.

This place just keeps getting better. What a fantastic turn around from the previous incarnation…read more All local spirits and beers (at least the ones we do well, gins and vodka) and a great range of snacks and nibbles. The bar menu is getting better and the dining room well done out. There's a story to this place if you're a local and I'm really happy this becoming a gem. My only feedback is that it still feels quite sterile.. could do with more character and local items on the walls.

Getting there! It's…read morea bit too early to be critical of this pub and it looks and feels so much better than the previous pub. It's a pub that's upmarket and maybe a sign of the changes taking place in this part of Harringey as a more professionals start to colonise the area. The pub lighting looks good from outside but inside the soft tones do not complement the current layout. I really like the bar area which looks very welcoming. I hope that this will be extended to some of the other sections of the pub. There are many ales to choose from which are'nt your standard Peroni, carlsberg etc.. this is emphasised by the menu which states "independent, small breweries, no mainstream b***s***"... at the price of sounding a snob I must say"Here here!". Mind you the price also can be somewhat high which probably keeps out the hoi polloi. Currently the menu is limited to light snacks such as suasauge rolls and cheese boards. Speaking with the staff they are planning to open a kitchen soon but the type of food on offer was not clarified. As I drank on a Saturday night I could hear the workmen busy behind the boarded section working on the extension. I hope all this comes soon so I can try out the place again.
