As someone else said, you can stop searching for the best sailing charter because you just found it. Not only is it the best price you will find, but you also get a super fun captain. Not only fun but safe and the boat was even comfortable. There were Bluetooth speakers, pillows to relax on and a clean bathroom! We got to bring brinks and snacks and enjoy the ride. We saw dolphins and sea lions. We did real sailing and were lucky enough to have the perfect wind. Super easy to book and super quick to respond. Can't wait go again! read more

Captain Max is a chill dude from the land down under. We commissioned a 4 person trip with him and he was very pleasant to be around. He taught us about basic sailing techniques and allowed us to climb to the front of the boat so we could reenact the scene from titanic. Sadly, strong winds and bumpy waters prevented us from fooling around too much - I guess this is a good thing. We saw some seals basking in the sun as we were heading back. The beautiful sunset made our trip that much more memorable and peaceful. Overall, I would recommend you giving this place a shot. read more

Best ever!!! Captain Max is a great captain- he'll teach you about sailing if that's your thing, or you can enjoy wine/snacks while he sails for you. Interesting, knowledgeable and low-key cool. I've chartered a few sailing trips but come back to Max because he's the best! He's also VERY reasonably priced! read more

We had a wonderful sale with Captain Max of Jolly saline out of Long Beach Village Harbor my husband's an old sailor from Long Beach now and his 90s he doesn't feel comfortable going out by himself so Captain Max took us for a lovely sale with our relatives and it was a good sale he had everything on board that we need it and we brought her own things and he's very competent very friendly and we had a good time read more

Jolly Sailing was awesome! I booked on a whim cause it was my last night in town. Max was amazing! He was knowledgeable, professional, and yet still made feel like I had known him for years! I wish I had done this excursion with Max and Jolly Sailing LB sooner. In addition, he gave me great local tips. The boat was clean and had brand new sails. I could tell that Max's main concern was safety and making sure I felt comfortable and that I was having fun. It's obvious Max truly cares about his guest's experience. read more

Me and my friends booked for a boat ride to celebrate grad season and they were very accommodating to all our needs. Max is super friendly so it's not awkward to have him there and his wife is also a great companion on the boat as she caters to the guests needs. You won't regret it once you get on, don't be afraid to ask him for some modifications to your accommodations (in good time though so he can prepare) he'll go the extra mile. read more

I highly recommend Max Jolly and Jolly sailing. My Husband and I inherited a sailboat but certainly Not the skills to enjoy it. We took group sailing lessons and when it came time to use our boat, we hired Max to show us how to be successful on our specific boat. Can I say, "Haleleujah!"? What an amazing experience. Not only is Max super professional- teaching us how to prepare to sail, all of the possible scenarios that might create a dangerous situation, and so much more- all with a smile on his face and a happy heart! I can honestly say that we enjoyed every single sail with Max. My husband and I sail our boat at least twice a week now, with confidence and pure enjoyment. We talk about our time with Max every single time we sail and remark how grateful we are for him because we run into some situation that we are able to resolve because of our time spent with Max. Best money ever spent. read more

Had a wonderful time with Captain Max, couldn't have asked for a better experience. He was friendly, professional, and clearly loves what he does. He made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed on our excursion, they've got this operation down! It's wonderful that we can bring our own drinks and food too. I really couldn't have asked for more. This was a really great way to see Long Beach and spend an afternoon. So glad we heard about this, and we're definitely going to spread the word! Can't wait for the next trip!!! read more

Max was great. I received my sailing certification about 10 years ago and since life got in the way I have not had a lot of time to sail. Max was super responsive and flexible and got me in the next day. We did a 2 hour refresher and hit the major points of sailing. It included boat setup, knot tying, rigging, points of sail, nomenclature of the boat, and man overboard drill. We practiced tacking and jibing in the harbor well as open ocean. I feel a new confidence in my sailing ability after our session and if my schedule allows I would love to go out with Max again. The best part of the experience was Max's customer service. In a time when people usually don't care, Max truly did. It was refreshing and enjoyable. A+++++. Thanks again Max, keep in touch and if you need a deckhand let me know, I'm in! read more

This is 2 years overdue. I booked Max for 2 years for my husband's birthday last year and again this year. I think this will be a tradition now. Max is the best and as he would say..."all time!" He's the nicest chill guy and knows his stuff. We brought a little picnic and watched the sun set. Hard to beleive were still in LA when we're just off the Long Beach coast. read more

Our family had such a wonderful experience with this company. They had friendly/professional customer service and really tried to make the overall experience worthwhile. Our captain went over the expectations and basic rules before we started. We were able to bring our own food and drinks (just make sure to check the website for dos and don'ts). My kids got to play captain and steer the boat for a good part of the ride. Looking forward to doing this again soon! read more

Sailing with Max was a highlight of our time in the LA area. If you want to get out on the water, experience what boating is really about -- wind and waves. (sail not motors), check out Jolly LB. We had a beautiful sail and a fun time hanging with Capt. Max. Their slogan "your friend with a boat" captures the spirit of this business perfectly. The next time we're in Long Beach, we're hoping to repeat. read more

Captain Max took me and a date out twice for a 2-hour harbor sail. He's a pleasant host, from arrival time at the Shoreline Village parking area until the boat is docked in the marina at the end of the outing. Text him when arriving to coordinate parking and where to meet up. Bring your favorite playlist on your mobile phone to play over the boat's speaker system; it adds much to the vibe. The boat has moveable holders for your favorite bottled beverage and even flowers in a jar the diameter of a typical bottle, so bring both! You can chat with Max in the aft end of the boat, take turns at the wheel and take corny pics with a captain's hat on and recline love seat-style at the forward end for a panoramic harbor view. The entire experience can be very romantic if so desired, including sunset sails and full Moon evening sails. Max and his wife run this venture by themselves as a small business, so support them with YOUR business -- read more

Our 4 hour sail was idyllic. It was perfect. The boat is beautiful and immaculate and Max is a great Captain. We had a wonderful time!

Ok where to start? These guys made it so easy from the initial booking to us getting on the boat. I surprised my girlfriend with a Sunset sail after a bite to eat at a restaurant nearby. The owner Max was so welcoming! He showed us the ropes no pun intended. We just wanted to be sailed around and he actually let us sail! He set us up safely and gave us a mini lesson. We got to sail down the coast of SoCal and even around these island. He even took us to this buoy where all the Sea Lions hang out. This cruise was worth every cent, we lucked out finding this company. Thank you Max we'll definitely be back next year! read more

If you want to call that friend who has a sailboat, who can teach you, help, or just let you have a good time sailing, then Jolly Sailor is perfect for you. Max is a long time teacher and sailor and will work with you to have a great time on the water. My wife and I had a few hours free, and Max worked with us to sail his Catalina 25 on our schedule. For us it was a great refresher for me, and a great intro for her. We sailed in different areas, and adjusted our course based on the wind and our comfort levels. We learned about sailing, the local town, the history, and things to do in the area. We wound up, not just with an incredible sunset, but the best possible sail experience would could have imagined. read more

I simply loved the sailboat ride, IT WAS AWESOME!!! I especially love the way the owner, Max, kept it simple with the paper work and then off we went. He's laid back, super nice, and lots of fun.....he even kept playing my favorite song, "Sailing," by Christopher Cross over and over again, per my request, of course, lol! In any case, Labor day Weekend was my first time sailing, but I do not plan for it to be my last. Thank you, Max, for giving me the best experience of a lifetime! read more
