This place is terrible. Our son died unexpectedly, and we chose this service based on the reviews…read moreand price. Our son was cremated in February 2022. In the beginning, everything went well. The problems arose when we went to pick up our son. We had an appointment, and the person did not show up until 1 hour later. Today is June 9, 2022, and we have yet to receive our son's death certificate. I had to purchase one from the state of Kentucky because we had to settle his affairs. The most important being monthly benefits for our son's 3-year-old daughter through Social Security. I have contacted Layken and have not received a response. After talking to the deputy coroner, she informed me that others had had the same problem. As soon as I can find the correct person to report this business to, besides the Better Business Bureau, I will report this business. Very disappointed and do not recommend this business. I wish I had gone to Care Cremation and paid the extra $200. When something is unexpected, not everyone has tons of money lying around. The price was the only reason we chose this place. We should not have had to wait for our son's ashes. We are devastated at our son's loss, adding more pain to what we were and are experiencing.

Great people. We were very pleased with the funeral director Ray Hardy 859-252-5433. He was helping…read moreus and advising us like a very informed friend would. We were pre- planning both of our funerals. I am writing this unknown to Milward. I am a veteran and Mr. Hardy knew all about what to expect with Camp Nelson funerals. No up-selling just the facts. So pricing was fair and you choose the package that suits your needs. Casket cost seems to have the greatest room for savings if you don't forget that you are going to bury it not drive it around town. Mr. Hardy said he would meet us at any of Milward locations so we chose the North Broadway facility because it had the most caskets on display with pricing and descriptions attached. There are wooden and metal caskets. Research whether a gasket is important and the importance of the thickness (gauge) of metal caskets. It will help you choose a casket. Mr. Hardy was a good person.

Smith and Smith Funeral Home provided EXCEPTIONAL service to my family recently when a loved one…read morepassed away unexpectedly. In particular, Omer Cowherd, who I believe is the manager, went above and beyond the call of duty. He was sympathetic to our loss without being patronizing or cliched. He listened to what we wanted and worked with us to stay within our budget. He was extremely available and responsive to all our queries and promptly provided answers to all our questions and solutions to any issues. He helped us obtain the death certificate and report the loss to the appropriate government officials. This may be a standard offering with all the funeral homes, I'm not sure, but it sure did seem like a value add at the time as we were somewhat overwhelmed by all the things we thought we had to take care of. Mr. Cowherd was very professional but also came across as very personal. He seemed very genuine and sincere. The quality of his work was above reproach and our loved one appeared very natural as if he were sleeping peacefully. I wish this site had more stars to express how highly I would recommend this establishment and Mr. Cowherd. He surely deserves at least 10 stars!!!

I've always liked walking through cemeteries. I find them peaceful and beautiful. This cemetery was…read moreno exception. It's not a large cemetery. It took about 20 minutes to walk around the entire area. However, it's not the smallest cemetery I've visited. Several tulips were in bloom. There are lots of trees. There are several benches throughout the cemetery. The driving lanes are very narrow. It's difficult for two cars to pass each other, but the paths are nice for walking. They have a special section of the cemetery called Babyland. That was sad. There were lots of balloons and flowers. One of the more interesting graves is one of Tent Girl (Barbara Hackmann Taylor), a young girl who was murdered in the 1960s. Her body was found along US 25. It took 30 years to identify her with DNA testing. She was the subject of a 48 Hours special. The headstone features a police sketch and description. There are many very old tombstones dating back to the 1800s as well as several new ones.
