The location is slightly off the beaten path, but we find it worth our time to head over this way every couple of weeks to see if we can find any treasures - - and we usually do! On my lunch break today I went to God's Pantry's program "Food for Thought" that is done on the…read moresecond Thursday of each month. They give you a free box lunch, a presentation of their programs, and a brief tour of the warehouse. I had been to God's Pantry before to volunteer, but this presentation really opened my eyes to everything that they are able to accomplish and how they work to supply faith based and other partner agencies in 50 counties. They feed 200,000 people a year. For every $1 you donate, they are able to distribute 8 meals. With only 50 full time employees, I am very impressed with how efficient this organization is. It was also very interesting to find out where all of the food comes from, for example our local Kroger and Walmart donates bread, meat, and other items that can be frozen on their sell by date. God's Pantry is also committed to giving out healthy foods-their goal is 1/3 fresh produce. I love this event so much I wrote a paper on it. I'm Not exactly sure what one thing sees this…read moreevent apart from others. It's Could be the location that's gets me. It could be the diversity of the crowd. It could even be the food and drinks. I would not do this event any justice if I limit it to one thing that makes it great. The NOLI Night Market has a Brooklyn NY vibe without the huge high rise buildings. When I try to explain this event I'm compelled to use terms like: abstract, eclectic, artsy just to attempt to explain the vibe. Reminds me of Asheville NC because of all of the liberal arts school in the area. It may seems like I'm rambling but that's this event in a nut shell. So hard to put the vide into words or even explain it. When I'm ask about I just say you have to try it. That's all I can come up with. I purchase some really cool laser etched wine glasses here as well as some classic vinyl records. My daughter purchase some homemade soap from some very young entrepreneurs and some home made doggie treats. The scope is just that broad. The food trucks ranges from waffles to noodles. This was my first visit to the Night Market on Bryan Avenue, just off Limestone. It was a freezing…read morenight, but very cozy. This was one of the most authentic events, that I have ever been to within Lexington. It is a MUST VISIT for anyone that appreciates local arts/crafts for sale, food trucks, beer, cultural stuff, etc. They have about 50 authentic booths that sells local arts and crafts including jewelry, the prices are very reasonable and supports NoLi businesses (North Limestone). You can grab some awesome grub, drink (Think West 6th) and enjoy the atmosphere. I fortunately was able to take a tour of one of the Shotgun houses on York Avenue featuring art as well as art in work (building an artistic house) on North Limestone. People and vendors are extremely friendly. This is a wonderful place to spend a Friday night date. Night Market happens on the first Friday of each month, I am not sure if there will be a January NM, but I do know there will be one in December. Definitely a hidden gem that everyone should add to their bucket list of things to do in Lexington. The Organic Association of Kentucky is awesome! I'm not a member, but I've been to some of their…read moreevents and they're great. I love that they're spreading information regarding organic and locally produced food items. They recently had an event in Cherokee Park and it was so fun to get out and meet some of the producers and vendors of these goods. It's very interesting to talk with these individuals and learn more about where our food is coming from. Being more healthy is something I think we all strive for, and O.A.K. is a great place to get information about how to do that. They have several events coming up and I highly recommend checking one out if you have the chance, they're definitely worth it!

Bread of Life Assembly of God Bread of Life is an awesome…read moreChurch! It has so many things to offer! Fun, fellowship, and much more. I can only begin to describe my church! Bread of Life is a special and unique place. It has all the programs that a Church can offer! But over all that's not what makes it! I has the Holy spirit! It has an anointed atmosphere. The people make you feel so welcome and encouraged! Our Church is so unique in the fact that we still have the spirit of speaking in tongs. Even my pastor is amazing! He really listens to the Lord about what to say and all most every week he has something to say that is for me! My Church is amazing the way they let children be included in the service. And preform in the children's choir or even getting to play the piano. We are about to go to a Fine Art's festival where we get to preform different ablates we have and sometimes go to Nationals! Even though we've only been a church for 6 years we have grown in so many ways! The Lord has just really blest us! Thank you for reading and come visit us soon!
