We were pre- planning both of our funerals. I am writing this unknown to Milward. I am a veteran and Mr. Hardy knew all about what to expect with Camp Nelson funerals. No up-selling just the facts. So pricing was fair and you choose the package that suits your needs. Casket cost seems to have the greatest room for savings if you don't forget that you are going to bury it not drive it around town. Mr. Hardy said he would meet us at any of Milward locations so we chose the North Broadway facility because it had the most caskets on display with pricing and descriptions attached. There are wooden and metal caskets. Research whether a gasket is important and the importance of the thickness (gauge) of metal caskets. It will help you choose a casket. Mr. Hardy was a good person.

In particular, Omer Cowherd, who I believe is the manager, went above and beyond the call of duty. He was sympathetic to our loss without being patronizing or cliched. He listened to what we wanted and worked with us to stay within our budget. He was extremely available and responsive to all our queries and promptly provided answers to all our questions and solutions to any issues. He helped us obtain the death certificate and report the loss to the appropriate government officials. This may be a standard offering with all the funeral homes, I'm not sure, but it sure did seem like a value add at the time as we were somewhat overwhelmed by all the things we thought we had to take care of. Mr. Cowherd was very professional but also came across as very personal. He seemed very genuine and sincere. The quality of his work was above reproach and our loved one appeared very natural as if he were sleeping peacefully. I wish this site had more stars to express how highly I would recommend this establishment and Mr. Cowherd. He surely deserves at least 10 stars!!!

It is lovely along the lines of Cave Hill in Louisville. But it was getting late and we had to go. Which proved more difficult that necessary. Unless we wanted to ignore one-way road signs in the cemetery... Google maps took me to roads that didn't exist, gates that had been removed completely and walled up...and we had an adventure just trying to exit the cemetery. But if you've got the time, and inclination...it is gorgeous here with some notable folks' graves to visit.

He was super nice and helpful but when it came down to the funeral, it just wasn't worth the money. My sister had, had her husbands funeral here 4 months prior to that and was less than pleased. Anyways, my mom passed away and I immediately chose Kerr Brothers. We met with a nice gentleman name Trevor. Come the day of the funeral, I dealt with a man I had never met. I asked him if my mom looked good because I chose to see her at the funeral home as opposed to lying in her bed. He told me he thought she looked good. When we went in for the private viewing I was mortified. My mother looked like a melting snowman. He make-up and lips were awful. She had blood running out of her mouth. It looked nothing like her and she would have been very upset allowing people to view her like that. Also, she didn't have on her scarf so we could see all of her chest which was purple. I asked about the scarf and why the slideshow wasn't playing. I was told both the USB and the scarf were in the bottom of the casket, and we were asked to leave the room while they got it. Why did we have to leave? It makes me wonder if they cut her legs off to fit her in in the casket. Anyways, I chose to close the casket as she was in no viewing condition. Many people were upset about not viewing her so they could get that closure. So was I, so I couldn't blame them. We went on with the funeral. A few days later I met up with Trevor about my disappointments. He said they would take off the prep fee. That's great, but what about the viewing fee? She wasn't even viewable?! I guess something is better than nothing? Although I feel morally that they should have done more. I can't unsee the things I seen. I can't take away grief. Well, they got paid. I was going to pre-strange my funeral there but def will be taking my large insurance policy elsewhere. Goodbye to Kerr Brothers.

My mother passed away early this morning. I had a call from Kerr Brothers by 9:00. By 2:30 we had times, clothes, minister, music, opening & closing, obituary, flowers, and literally everything wrapped up. In fairness, we are long-time Kerr Brothers associates. They have always been very good to my family and my wife has made me swear an oath that if she goes before me, I will take her nowhere but Kerr Brothers. When my Brother dies in 1979, Kerr Brothers was there. When my dad died five years ago, they were there. And this morning, they were there. The gentleman who met with me today said he would be there all weekend if I needed anything. I remain a Kerr Brothers fan. Never been to a funeral here where the family was not very pleased with the choice.

After vital statistics getting involved it was determined that Mr Fender never submitted the paperwork to the State of Kentucky. We live in Vermont and my wife was down there all alone in the worst situation of her life and I feel he figured out of sight out of mind when she was at her most vulnerable. We are facing financial repercussions due to not being able to file her D.C. with a few agencies. Instead of making this easier after the death of my beloved mother in law he's made this nightmare worse.
