Thanks to Johnson's Towing my family (including young twins) and I had the best flat tire experience...and along the way were reminded that humanity does exist and can be pretty amazing at times. After blowing a tire on a remote (no cell service) stretch of highway north of Point on a holiday weekend Sunday a 911 emergency call hooked us up (literally) with Johnson's Towing and Benji. Also a shout out to Deputy Conner Selvey of the Portage County PD (the badge stickers were great) - thanks for the squad ride! Benji called the only two tire places open in Point...neither had the tires needed or anything comparable. Without hesitation, he suggested we could use one of his vehicles, he'd take the wheel-less car and together we'd make the trek home,100 miles south. But before we could leave town, they set up our kids with snacks for the road, and some Johnson's Towing swag. We made the trek south, dropped the car at the repair shop, at which point Benji followed us to our house so we could load up the 'loaner' car and he could get back on his way. All in all, the best experience we could have hoped for under the circumstances and had new tires on the car by that evening...and added just over 3 hours to what the trip would have taken. I'd recommend Benji, his mom Betty, or any of the other members of this family-owned business. They understand what you are going through and make the extra effort because we are all people...and sometimes some of us need a little more help. aw read more

I was expecting a call from my wife Susan to say she had reached the Oshkosh WI dog show after her evening drive across Wisconsin from St. Paul. When the phone rang about 11:30 pm it was all together a different discussion. She was stranded on the side of I-39 completely without power or any lights. Susan is the dark, by herself with two dogs, no lights, on the shoulder of a freeway with bars about to start closing. This is NOT GOOD. I'm on the road myself, 1000 miles away and start calling Stevens Point 24-hour tow services from my North Carolina hotel room that I found online. Call one was a strike out. I then called Johnson Towing and talked to Ben, he instantly knew the urgency in getting Susan off the freeway and to a safe location. I said I was pretty sure it was an alternator as the van is well maintained, but the alternator is the original. I described the sign Susan could see and Ben knew right where she was, not 30 minutes later I got a call from Ben saying he was with Susan. I was so relived! He hauled the van and Susan to a nice hotel. In the morning Ben and his brothers, going well above and beyond, had already picked up an alternator and fixed the van first thing Saturday morning, at a very reasonable cost for everything, this despite having an important family event that afternoon. April 2019: Serpentine Belt busted on the car and battery died, leaving me stranded a couple towns over at 1am. Contacted all the so-called 24h towing companies in the area and received no answer multiple times from all except two. One stated they would be available at 11am, nothing like a 10h window stranded. Johnson Towing made it clear they would have a truck available within an hour (arrived within 30min) and the young gentleman who arrived greeted us warmly and professionally immediately got to work. It took longer to fill out the necessary paperwork and confirm the destination of my vehicle than it did for the Johnson employee to hook the car up and get back on the road. Very fast, efficient, and did not cost an arm and a leg for service requested. Unexpected situations can be tough. The most painful part of the whole situation was ending up having only one option out of five. That option, Johnson Towing, exceeded expectations, and I will remember them in the future. EDIT: 05/08/2019 Managed to lock my keys in my car. Tried wedging the door open myself and failed remarkably well. Called Johnson figuring at worst he'd be able to point me in the right direction to a reputable locksmith. Instead he came out and, with the right tools, popped my door right open, no damage, no hassle, pouring rain no less. His rate on this job was largely mileage and it didn't break the bank. read more

On the way to my cabin for a weekend of bow hunting, my alternator failed and left me stranded on a Friday night near Steven's Point. I was going to have to sacrifice my weekend and stay in a hotel with no guaranty that I could even find someone to replace my alternator until Monday which would mean also missing a day of work. I called these guys, and not only did they promptly arrive with a flatbed to pick up my truck, the owner came in his personal vehicle to get my passenger and I. When I explained my predicament, the owner made a few phone calls and was able to find someone who could put my alternator in that night. He drove me to the parts store to pick up the part, and then to his shop where my truck was already off the flatbed and in the shop waiting for the part. The alternator was promptly installed and I was back on my way. These guys went way out of their way to help me and saved my weekend and that of my hunting partner. Thanks to Ben and Johnson Towing for turning a stressful event into an enjoyable experience. On Father's Day Sunday on the way home from up north to Milwaukee my car quit running right outside of Stevens Point. As it was a 90 degree day I decided to wait about 10-15 minutes with the hope that perhaps my car just overheated. After only about 10 minutes wondering what I was going to do if my car doesn't start I see the lights of a tow truck pull up behind me and this wonderful guy Ben asks if I'm okay and if he can help. He asked me where I was going and when I said Milwaukee he unbelievably said I'm on my way to pick up another car that I'm taking to Milwaukee and I can take you too! We had truck issues from Phelps, Wi to Stevens Point, we are not from the area and were trying to fix our truck in -3 degree weather outside the O'reilly Auto Parts store. We called Johnson Towing and explained our situation, that we needed a tow and also an enclosed heated shop to warm up the truck and fix it, they showed up, towed us to their indoor garage, let us use all their tools!!!! Ben even let us use his personal car to go eat while our truck thawed out. When you think America has lost the ability to care for others and do nice things, this was truly a blessing!!!! Ben was a salt of the earth guy, kind, generous. We got back on the road and made it home. I feel that we not only received exceptional service, but made new friends. I blew a tire yesterday while driving with my family out in the countryside of central Wisconsin. I called Johnson Towing for assistance and was helped by a very friendly guy named Ben. He arrived promptly with a beautiful, brand new Ford F150 on his tow truck. He allowed me to drive my family home in his new truck while he towed my minivan to a nearby town for repairs. How many people would allow a complete stranger to drive a $60,000 vehicle of theirs? Ben is very trustworthy and his kind gesture to allow us to use his truck speaks volumes about his character! Johnson's Towing saved our evening...on our way to Friday dinner I managed to pick up a hunk of metal in my truck tire and in a matter of minutes had a flat tire. It was wicked cold and we weren't dressed for the weather and after 45-minutes in the bitter cold we were unable to lower the spare tire from underneath the truck. I called Johnson's Towing and in a few minutes they were out there helping to save the day! They are great guys to work with, professional, courteous, knowledgeable and friendly! These people were absolutely amazing. The customer service was top notch. I lost the alternator to my vehicle, which was also pulling a trailer with a 4 wheeler at 2:00 A.M. They not only arrived within 30 minutes as promised, but he also let us sleep in their shop until morning. Once morning came his mother brought over coffee and donuts. He also called a buddy of his and our alternator was replaced the minute this guy opened shop. I have never in my life experienced such unbelievable customer service. I had a bearing go out which froze up and blew the tire on my boat trailer. We were stuck on the ramp to I-39/51. I called another company first and they did not seem interested in coming since it involved a boat. I then called Johnson Towing and they said "no problem, we will be right there!" I hardly had the jack and old tire put away when they pulled up, loaded my boat and trailer on a flatbed and took it to the repair shop for new bearings. We had a tire blowout on a Sunday afternoon. Did a google search and found Johnson Towing. They answered right away and came out right away. The tow truck was tied up at the time but they sent someone out in a pickup truck to get me and my family to a safe place off the highway while we waited for our ride home. They took care of the towing and we didn't have to wait around any extra time. They called us after our vehicle was moved to the repair shop. Absolutely Amazing Company!!! Caught in the 2019 Polar Vortex at a Hotel in Waupaca with a dead truck. They enthusiastically drove from Stevens Point to Waupaca and hauled our truck home to Wisconsin Rapids.
