We have a diesel pusher motorhome and our starter when out. Went to Freightliner just a block away and the recommended Johnson tire company for mobile service. Stuart showed within the hour of making the initial phone call. He quickly diagnosed that the bendix on the starter was bad. He did get it running, but we were not comfortable moving on to remote areas needing service again. So we had him replace the starter at our rv site. Replaced it in a short time, and we were in business again. Stuart was very nice and informative as he was diagnosing the problem. Great attitude and very well mannered. Not once complained about crawling under our motorhome to install a new starter. Highly recommend these company, for any mobile service in the Biloxi area. read more

How does a company give a quote for work to be done, such as packing wheel bearings, and not include the grease to pack the bearings in the quote? This place seems to nickel and dime you to death. As soon as the technician started the job, there was this issue -- he was only going to pump the grease in through the bearings instead of removing the bearings to clean and pack properly and change the rear seals. He was told "Stop! The rear seals need to be changed in order to do the job properly". UNFORTUNATELY, the tech did not have seals with him on the company truck; therefore, he had to return to the shop to retrieve proper I was provided a quote over the phone while the "boss" was relaying all costs. Every specific was written down including the person's name whom I spoke with. The year and model travel trailer was provided. When the technician wrote up the ticket for payment, he came up with a ridiculously higher cost than that which was quoted. Time spent to drive back to the shop to get rear seals was added to the ticket on top of charging for grease. Neither of these were mentioned in the quote. There was an automatic extra charge for work performed at the campground and should not have been any additional extra. read more

The first time I went to this joint I didn't have a great experience (called ahead to see if they could LOOK at the car today - they said bring in down, but it can't be repaired today - fair enough, drove down there and they don't have the time to look at it today. But....they are local, and I like to support local businesses. Their reviews were good, so I figured I'd try again. Different vehicle this time. We took our van in for service as a friend suggested that it may need a map sensor. Johnson's ran diagnostics (BTW, that is $100 per hour, billing $189.90) and then advises that it needs an ignition coil (196.65 part, 47.48 labor), throttle position sensor (58.07 part, 47.48 labor) and throttle body cleaning (31.94 for a $10 Valvoline Flush, 38.05 labor). TOTAL $609 and yet written on paper is an authorization by me for a total of 575.18. So it's $34.00 more, but the cleaning service was not mentioned while we were talking about pricing.....okay. Then there is the unspecified $22.93 for supplies...?? Along with sales tax it totals $676.78 It's a bit of a financial stretch, but I don't know how to fix ANYTHING on a vehicle, so I'm okay with the situation. Fast forward to the next day when I drove to work - 6.8 miles, 14 minutes of city driving. The van drove decently, it didn't stall at the light anymore. Driving home from work, I stopped at the gas station and when I got back into the vehicle it wouldn't start. I had to call someone to pick me up and had the vehicle sent back to Johnson's. Another $100 for diagnostics and they can't figure out why it wouldn't start last night because it starts just fine for them today. They noted on the receipt that the vehicle needs attention to the AC (we live in Southern Mississippi, it's important!) and suggested that we do a cooling system flush, replace the thermostat, serpentine belt and belt tensioner. None of which, I was assured, was causing it not to start. Fine.....we pick the van back up and off we go. The last contact with Johnson's was 8/16 when we picked the van up. Today (8/21) my daughter is stuck at the gas station near the preschool because the vehicle won't start. Sending a neighbor to pick her up and finding a new mechanic to go get the vehicle. Of course, I'll have to wait until I get paid again. In the meantime....the van will start ONE time and run great. After that it needs at least four hours until it will start again. read more

Although this is mostly a duplicate message, it is because we experienced Johnson's roadside service and shop service... We recently experienced a tire blow-out on an inside passenger dully on our 22,000-pound 37-foot Class A motorhome between Hattiesburg and Biloxi, Mississippi. Johnson Tire Service out of Biloxi was called. Employee John Fuller arrived one hour later. Mr. Fuller was professional, friendly, experienced, properly equipped and had our spare on in 55 minutes. Considering the important safety and financial ramifications of who is dispatched you want a company that is trustworthy, has well equipped service trucks and service bays to handle the size and weight of your vehicle, carries quality tires and proper valve stems, is capable of spin balancing your tires, and hires competent and dependable employees. After a number of phone calls (228-872-1111), service on the road and at their shop, we have full confidence to recommend Johnson's Tire Service. We visited two of their locations in Biloxi as they are opening a new truck center at 14500 Armein where they have more space to work on motorhomes and 18 wheelers. Unfortunately we bought poor quality Chinese made tires with equally poor service in Hattiesburg from another company, closer to where we blew the tire. Plus the first road service our agent called from Hattiesburg did not have a functional jack or the correct size sockets to fit our lug nuts! When you are traveling and forced to take what you can get, you don't get much. Once in Biloxi we had Johnson's reinstall our CrossFire system (dual tire air pressure equalizers) on the duals. It only cost $35 a side. Owner Allen Johnson charges more than the Hattiesburg providers for his road service and tires but then Johnson sells made-in-the-USA brand name tires and has the added overhead of serviceable trucks, proper equipment, and competent employees. That makes all the difference! read more

We had a blowout on our 5th wheel, on the freeway, 30 miles from Johnson's. We put the spare tire on, and then called to make sure they had the tires we needed and to let them know we were headed their way. 1 mile from their location, another tire blew. We limped into their facility. They had both tires replaced, and put the spare back in place, within an hour. Could not have asked for better customer service. Highly recommend this facility! Thank you Johnson Tire for getting us back on the road so quickly!! And they gave us a military discount. read more

My 2006 F350 6.0 Powerstroke wouldn't start. After exhausting the trouble shooting I could do on my own, I had it towed to Johnson's tire. It took them about an hour to troubleshoot it down to the fuel injector control module, and a couple more to replace it. Both the part and service fees were very reasonable and the service was fast and easy! Better than average experience. read more

I went to Johnson tire shop to buy tires for my boat trailer and explained to them I pull my boat to La. during the winter to fish regularly and need some good tires but not necessarily the best on the market. He said he didn't have them in stock so I came back a few days later and they mounted them. The ticket I noticed when I got home had a charge for balancing which was never done because I watched them mount them. I didn't get to fish much for the next ten months and when I did I didn't have to pull very far to launch. Before the tires where a year old and looked brand new per the employee I took them back and they had bulges coming up making them bounce when pulled. Two different employees said nearly all these tires have came back and they don't carry that brand anymore. I had asked for a good tire and paid more than other quotes I got from other shops for a low end tire. I was told they would send them back and I would get a few dollars per tire as others had that brought them back but if they gave them any money back they kept it. I have bought tires for two other vehicles that have done okay but I want do business with them anymore if they want stand behind there products at all when they were told I need a better tire. read more
