FROM LEMONS TO LEMONADE…read more From the time I purchased my soon to arrive item on December 1, 2025, my customer experience was a NIGHTMARE. (And, it confounded me because I have previously spent big bucks as an established customer and that this purchase was a high dollar product.) From misinformation on the website about the product being in stock (when it was not), to lies and false promises from the call center agents (the first 2x I called about my order) and then being told that employees of a sister-store (that actually had the item) would NOT communicate nor comply with a co-worker's request for help/information (which I found to be incomprehensible and totally shocking and unacceptable), it was frustrating, upsetting and nerve-racking because the clock was ticking to earn a Rebate from the manufacturer for the product by Dec. 31, 2025. And until about, the 15th, when I finally reached call center rep "Kevin" who kept his WORD and got me in touch with Isaac B., the Assistant Manager for Customer Service, who turned out to be my savior and the man who turn my disaster of a transaction from lemons to lemonade !! So, to sum up KUDOS to Isaac B. (who became my Santa Claus) and commendations to Kevin & Andy (in Billing) and honorable mention to Amanda the last call center rep who listened and followed-through. As a side bar, this gift to myself is sort of a Bucket List item to remotely bring a little happiness to myself due to the 39 year loss of my 2 children, who were kidnapped in 1987 and who have NEVER been found. (SEE: the links below.) So THANK YOU for a great man like Isaac and those members of his team who truly understand the concept of Customer Service and how it can impact not only a customer but also another human being. I went in with my spouse to purchase a firearm, and she was unfortunately the person we had to deal with. My spouse was asked for her ID and the old lady asked "is everything correct?" which the address was not because we had just moved. instead of politely informing us that she could not complete the purchase because of that, she rudely just said "i can't sell you a firearm, you need to get a new ID and it can't be a paper ID it needs to be the physical card" in a very rude tone. mind you i had to wait almost 10 minutes for her to eventually make her way up to the counter (there was no one in the store) she slammed her keys down and instantly had an attitude. Overall an unfortunate experience, i would suggest to shop elsewhere if she is working.

This is the worst run retail operation I have ever seen. Your expectations are probably pretty low…read moreas you enter the dingy, dilapidated storefront, but it just gets worse. There's no help to be found anywhere. They are always paging people to help out, but nobody shows up. Really sad since they have so much inventory - they make it hard for you to actually buy it. I blame the store manager for the mess. If you encounter her, you'll know. She's a real grump and it reflects on her team. The cashiers are constantly yelling at customers rather than listening. And forget about the "price match" policy. This Dunham Sports location doesn't participate in the price match policy.

I'll try this…read more I had to listen to a performative dood talk emanating from the floor worker to a customer about chain lubricant that went on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on. And on an on an on an on and on. And on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on. And on and on and on and on and on an on and on and on and on and on. It was a long time. I waited. And I waited some more. I did some serious waiting five feet away in a red sweater. No acknowledgment. No letting me know it might be a while. But that would've likely stopped the upselling I started to see. So I turned me and my bike around and left. It's hard for me to be on my feet that long. That's why I bike. Dood has a right to be into his subject matter. Usually shops want you to feel comfortable and respected as somewhat of a priority, even if you aren't being directly pitched at the moment... it just was not a good vibe. All doods working there when I was in. Way heavy on the dood vibe. Captive audience syndrome. Sigh. Dood has to do what a dood does. I avoid places like this. Going to the bike collective in Rogers Park instead next time.

Other years we've adopted a used bike that needs some TLC. This week they are working on upgrades to my kids' road bikes to make them better suited to racing on the velodrome in Northbrook. As always, the guy who helped us (Kyle) was knowledgeable about the options and had good advice about how to proceed. I knew that would be the case and knew that the shop is always fair about labor costs, which is why I brought the bikes back from Northbrook to have the work done. Long story short, this place is great, and you won't regret giving it your business.
