I called to have someone look at our drainfield. What I ended up with was a 650 dollar bill to pump my tank and a generic report saying the drain field was fine. Fortunately for me I have a new tank I'm adding to the property and have had other professionals on site to bid on the work in addition to Johnson. Not only did johnson take months to get a price on this work they came in more than double in price for the same scope of work. Also the other pros that came out immediately diagnosed my existing drain field as in need of immediate attention. For what it's worth the ladies in the office I spoke to were very nice which is why this isn't a 1 star rating. read more

The other 1 star reviews are 100% on par with my experience. There is no customer service, phone etiquette, or interest in earning business. It is too bad that they manage to pay their bills and stay in business despite that. It is a good thing that capitalism provides other options and companies that we can choose with better customer service. We used this company to drain our septic tank about two months ago. I dug up the septic tank in hopes of being charged less. They knocked off $20... Ok fine. The guys that came to do the pumping were slow and unprofessional. They left and didn't even cover the septic tank up. Whatever I did it and alls good. However now I call back because we need the drain field replaced and the customer service was atrocious. They speak to you as if you're bothering them and we should be grateful to give them our money. This is an expensive job and we need to feel comfortable with who we fork over thousands of dollars to. Apparently this company doesn't understand that and they feel you should just call them then shut up as they tell how it's going to be. I'd like to have an idea of what the cost will be before you show up with your sales plan. Or at least be courteous and respectful with potential clients. Act like you want the job. When you act like you don't need it that leads me to Believe one thing. You must be making enough off the people you rip off so you don't have to worry about pleasing people who want honest good work. I wish I never called this company in the first place. I had a good lil chuckle when I got on yelp and saw I'm not the first to feel disappointed with their customer service. I had been searching for a company to drain my septic for some time now. My family had used Johnson Environmental Services for many years so of course the company was on the top of my list. However I looked at the reviews and was shocked that all were 1-star reviews about how they were treated when they called and about the people who came to drain the septic. And then there were only 4 reviews. Needless to say, I moved on to another company. Although that company had many reviews with 5-stars, when I called I was basically chastised for being on septic and questioned how that was possible because everyone in my area was required to be hooked to sewer. After some discussion I was told that since I called after a holiday, someone would call me back on Friday. No one did. And because I do not chase any person or company to give my money to, that 5-star review company was scratched off the list. I then decided, to call Johnson, because I just discovered 5-stars mean nothing. So maybe 1-stars don't either. I called yesterday and was connected with Dionne. What a surprise! I didn't get a rude person on the phone as indicated in the other reviews. She was professional and had a wonderful spirit. I explained to Dionne what I needed, she asked me a few questions and said she could have someone come out the next day; between 9-2. Ughhh the dreaded "time block". But hey it could have been between 10 am-12 midnight; I was just happy it was finally getting done. I told Dionne about how reluctant I was to call because of the reviews on Yelp and she was very concerned as she stated it puts a bad reflection on the company. I told her that I'm glad that I took the chance and called. We ended the call, but less than 10 minutes later she called back and said that she had moved me to be the first appointment. Well yipee-ki-yay! Mr. Alex and Mr. Gregory arrived at 9:00 and got right to work. Did I mention that it had need a VERY long time since I had my septic drained? Well, Mr. Alex is "THE MAN"! He knows his stuff! And Mr. Gregory was very nice in explaining to me what was happening. They probably thought I was crazy as I was videoing and taking pictures; like who takes pics of a overflowing septic being drained? (You have to know my family...we share every moment to laugh at, even a $*** hole) LOL. Overall, I am very pleased with the customer service on the phone with Dionne and on site with Mr. Alex and Mr. Gregory. I told them all that I will never have to see them again because I will be hooked up to sewer, but I'm SOOOO glad that I decided to give Johnson Environmental Services a chance. And yes, usually 1-stars and 5-stars are indicative of what type of service you will receive, but sometimes it's quite the opposite and you'll end up pleasantly surprised as I was. THANK YOU! Horrible customer servce. Couldn't even get someone to call me for a quote and finally when they did the lady "Rosamarie" was very rude.

Johnson Env was excellent from the get-go. Rosemarie set up the service. She was very informative and explained the what and how. This will be useful for us, now and in the future. Next was Shakira who handled the billing and dispatch. Again, very helpful and courteous. And today, 11/6/2020, the 2 guys came out and pumped out our 2 tanks. They explained what the were going to do and showed us whatever we wanted to see. They snaked the pipes and fortunately we got the all clear on the line from the house and the all clear about the drain field. They pointed out that there was likely more sludge than there should have been for 3 years with only 2 people. Most probably, the previous pump out done by a different company may not have been thorough, since we need 300 ft hoses in our 1 acre lot. There was a lot of black on the sides of the tanks that they pressure cleaned. All in all, I give a strong recommendation to Johnson Environmental Services. read more

I can't speak for their services because I never got that far. Terrible phone etiquette and very rude. I called them up with a plumbing and septic tank emergency and the representative cut me off mid-sentence with "NO." After an awkward couple of seconds, I asked her what she meant, "No...you don't offer these services? No..you can't come today?" She then just said "No" again, and that was it. When I explained that it was an emergency and sewage was back-flowing into the house, she then begrudgingly said she could maybe have someone come out in 3 or 4 days. No thank you. Very rude, and I won't be calling them ever again. It's one thing to be unavailable, it's another to rudely and angrily chase a desperate customer away. We recently moved to a home on a septic tank and were referred to Johnson's from my parents who have used them for 30 years. We were very DISAPPOINTED with their service and with the representatives that answer the phone (that always say "NO"-see other review below). The phone reps are the very first impression for customers. Attention Pete C: when we had difficulty communicating with your office representatives (regarding a problem), we respectfully asked to speak with the owner and were rudely told that they do not give out that information and that you would not be interested in speaking with us regarding our concerns. read more
