I was fitted for my retainer at an out of pocket cost of $600. I have no issues with that if I get what is expected. What I received was a scan fitting by an assistant that treated my mouth like a new nurse looking for a vein to draw blood. The process took 45 minutes and it was sheer uncomfortable pain. This is not my first time receiving a fitting, it's my 4th. When I received my retainer they did not meet my expectation. I tried to ask questions but the assistant turned her back to me and ignored me. I have NEVER felt so dismissed in a doctor's office. My husband had a cracked tooth and needed to get in quick. We called and he got in the next day. He had requested Dr Johnson (Mrs). He said she made him feel at ease the whole time he was there. The front desk ladies were also very nice and friendly. He said he had a great dental assistant and she also was very kind. Overall a great experience at the dentist. The only reason I gave them a 4 star instead of a 1, is because I like the doctor and his assistant. However, I've been with them for a year and a half and they keep messing up my payments. They tell me one price only to end up paying more. Today they did that and I won't be going back. My husband and I were quoted 60 bucks for a cleaning if you pay cash. They told him they give a discount to existing clients who pay cash. When I called to confirm, I was told the same thing. I scheduled the appointment. I sent my son in alone since he is 16, while I waited in the car. I didn't think I needed to go in since I confirmed the price twice and he is 16. When he came out and gave me the receipt, I was shocked. They charged me almost $500!!! I went in and spoke to the front desk lady. I was pissed as this wasn't the first time but was the first time for such a huge price difference than the verbal quote and the amount they charged. The front desk lady who greets you was unprofessional and tried blaming me for her mistake. I asked to speak to my doctor and let him know everything and that this wasn't the first time. I don't think he knew how to handle it. When I told him I may have to change offices he said he understood. I was told this is rare but I have a hard time believing that as it's happened to me a handful of times in just a year and a half. I can't trust them to follow through with their own words. I shouldn't have to make sure everything is in writing to protect my butt. Since it has come down to this, I have to switch offices. Just to be clear, love the staff (they are nice) but the desk ladies need more training and they need to get on the same page and stop saying one thing and doing another. No one wants to pay more than what they are told. They lost 3 clients today over this. wish them the absolute best. But this is an issue they need to fix and stop trying to blame the clients for their mistakes. Just be aware of this incase you run into the same issue. Maybe some people don't mind a price difference but when it's hundreds of dollars and not the first or second or third time, it matters. They did end up refunding me my money. If they didn't, I would have made this a 1 star plus I would have submitted to my bank for the refund. Just be careful with this. May happen to you or may not. Again, nice people. Just don't seem to have it together when it comes to pricing and what you end up paying. The lady at the desk needs to listen better. She is nice till you call her out on her mistakes. Then she becomes short and unhelpful. just own it. Things turn out better when we own our mistakes and then go above to make it right. read more

OMG! I don't even know where to start! I visited Johnson Family Dental for the first time yesterday and was blown away. From the moment I walked in, the receptionist at the front desk was so warm and welcoming! She had a smile on her face the entire time. Then I met the most SUPER FANTASTIC Dental Hygienist, Ms. Iris Perez! I cannot say enough about her! She made my entire visit so amazing! I felt so comfortable with her. She was the sweetest and most patient person ever. She kept a smile throughout our entire interaction! She literally is one of the best people on Earth and I'm not exaggerating! Dr. Tim Johnson was a GEM as well! He explained everything to me in a way I would understand, had excellent bedside manner and made me feel so welcomed and valued as a patient! This place is my new dental home! They were great with me and my son. The staff was gentle, friendly and understanding. The place was super clean. They even had nice comfy blankets in the room in case you get cold. Even more amazing- they did not try to upsell me or convince me that I needed $$$$ work done. Dr. Johnson has literally saved my mouth. I've been to other dentists and the prognosis was always grim, ending with "You're going to lose your teeth." I just returned from my final major visit and I am pain-free with a beautiful smile. (And the answer wasn't a mouth full of dentures!) If I had a before picture, I would post a before and after to prove that this man and his staff work miracles. Staff is friendly and accommodating, office is nice and homey. Very clean. I'm going to send all of my friends to this dentist. This man, if he is still practicing in this area, is going to be my children's dentist, and I hope his children are my grand-children's dentists. Needless to say that I am very happy. He balances health concerns with cosmetic concerns, which is exactly why you want him working on your mouth. I had no problem with the Dentist. However his administrative staff needs some help. They are very RUDE. The first time, there was an issue with insurance. The second time I called was to request a refund for overpayment. I paid copay and my HRA account paid as well. I was told I NEVER paid the copay and their records were accurate because their books wouldn't have balanced if I had. I informed them I have a credit card receipt showing I paid. I was still basically told I wasn't telling the truth and I needed to email it to them. I'm not saying mistakes don't happen, but the way you handle those mistakes and the way you treat people goes a long way in my book. This evaluation is for the New Barker Cypress location. I'm told the original location is fantastic. Unfortunately they've lost my business read more
