When I got there, Nick took a quick look at my car and said it wasn't great news which I expected. It was going to cost between $500-$1,000 depending if the wheel bearing could be saved. I could not afford to have my car fixed, & I knew how long it would take me to get to work taking buses and trains so I was in tears leaving my car there hoping my husband would help me. Unfortunately, he did not want to put any more money into an older vehicle again. When I went back to Big Nick's Auto to pick up my car, Jami, Nick, & their Boxer Chaos were standing there. As I was still crying, I said I'm here to pick up my car, & they said no you're not, we are fixing your car for FREE!!!!!!! I'm fairly knowledgeable about cars and do most of my own work but this issue with the car left me and obviously "Nick" dumbfounded even though he'll boast about spending sooo much time on it -Thats nice bud, car still isn't fixed- and the shop kept whining about the "aftermarket" parts I installed even though they are pretty much the equivalent but didn't bother listening to what all I've done and ruled out, so after I had reached out to get an update they said my aftermarket fuel pressure sensor wasn't putting out the exact OEM pressure and wanted to replace it with an overpriced OEM one (mind you I already replaced it when I pulled the rails and injectors) but like an idiot who just wanted my car to work I said yes not knowing they over charge out the rear for labor, 2.6 hours to take a manifold off? and 455$ to do it? that's insane and guess what? it didn't fix anything, so I had a super unpleasant call with I guess is his wife I wasn't pleasant but I wasn't rude either her on the other hand? Jesus, like lady you people have had my car for a full two weeks and I've had to do all the reaching out and the car isn't fixed, but here's the kicker when she gave me the total I was awestruck so I mentioned I was gonna dispute that with Nick so she blew up on the phone (super unprofessional) seems like they've been down this road before. So I was on my way back down to that side of town and my father said he was just gonna go pick up the car because I was still an hour away and they wanted him to pay cash? because I said I was gonna dispute their blatant rip off. Set it up, waited in my vehicle patiently, and when technician came over 1. he wouldn't get closer than 20 feet to talk with me after politely, repeatedly asking him to so do (could not hear him clearly enough), 2. I asked him If I could ride along with him for his test drive, said no, stated, "Would you allow any body to watch you work?," and then before I could get a syllable out says, "You can take it somewhere else," and walks off. I'm dumbfounded. I go to the office to straighten it out and the moment I get in Gary says, "Get out." and it only physically escalates from there via Gary's utter refusal to hear a word I have to say. (Was happy for the technician to take it solo. but could never get that out to either of them visa vis their outrageous way they treated me before I could say a thing. (Just for context: No other shop in my 70 years has ever said I couldn't ride along.)) Good chances Gary is going to bald-facedly lie through his teeth defending his indefensible actions here, but I have no reason to make this up. In fact I only went to this shop because a couple years prior I had talked to Gary on the phone and he seemed like a decent, knowledgeable fella so I had nothing but good will and trust with him until this happened. They might be excellent at what they do, I have no idea, but psychologically they are unhinged, to put it mildly, and if anything goes wrong with their work on your vehicle, etc., I wish to save everyone before-hand the nightmare of having to deal with these two in the first place. Thus, avoid this particular shop like the plague. Sincerely, a previously otherwise "potential life long customer' of this facility. Sergei and his team are fantastic. They did a great job repairing my Dad's Lexus (reattach a…read morebracket) and my Toyota (order and install a new bracket). Both repairs were substantially less than the other body shops we received estimates from. In addition, the Lexus was repaired in under an hour AND on the SAME day of the estimate. The Toyota was repaired about a week after the estimate, which was within the original time frame given to complete the repair. On a side note, Sergei was on-time for both estimates.
