Food was very good, good portions. Waitress was so/so. She seemed to get annoyed when I asked what was in the Yankee Pot Roast, but she was fine after that including bring drink refills. She didn't ask if we wanted dessert, which we didn't but still she should have asked. I got the Yankee Pot Roast, the carrots and potatoes were soft and well cooked. The meat was a little chewy. Wife had the Cheese Burger she said it was very good and cooked the way she liked. I didn't bring it to their attention but the special was supposed to be $16.95 and she charged us $17.95. I'm not one to argue over small amounts, but if you go check your bill. I would still recommend going here.

While traveling to visit family in the area, my wife, a Virginia native, excitedly asked to go to a diner. Since I grew up in New England, diners hold no special allure for me. Still, I chose John's Plain and Fancy for her. I lived in Bucks County for 22 years and have eaten there before so I knew it was good. Unfortunately, no longer. Once we ordered, we learned it was under new management and it shows. We each had the 2-2-2. The hash browns were cold, the pancakes tasted like they were from a box (and mine had a faint taste of Comet), and the scrambled eggs tasted like insulation. Plus, the lukewarm coffee tasted like hot water with a brown crayon dunked in it. The facility looked run down and I noticed dirt around the ceiling vents. Very unappealing. Johns should take the money spent on jukeboxes and use it for a cleaning service. I will say our server was very attentive and professional. The host, though, had a bit of a "Meh, go seat yourselves" attitude. Now, as a Northerner, I know there are plenty of good diners. My wife, on the other hand, is disillusioned, and will just as easily want IHOP in the future. In any event, we won't go here again, fancy tabletop jukeboxes notwithstanding.

Crab Benedict and an order of 2 eggs with extra bacon.

Very good! New management is doing a great job! The bacon was delish. The home fries were ordered well done and perfectly executed. I got the Crab Benedict and my other half got 2 eggs and bacon. A simple order but all perfectly done.

Went to try for breakfast because we heard there were new owners. Blah. Bad coffee, dirty dining room, and bland food.

Went today for the first time and food was great, service was prompt and courteous. Was open during the blizzard, so we will be returning.

We stopped by McCoole's at the Historic Red Lion Inn on a Friday evening with a party of four and…read morehad a good experience overall. The food was very good, although they were out of a few of our first-choice menu items and drinks. I was hoping for a stout, but they only had a bottled porter, which ended up being a solid substitute. My wife and I were also looking forward to the Friday/Saturday Queen Cut ribeye, but since it was sold out we went with the NY Strip and the Swiss & Wild Mushroom Burger. Both were tasty. Our daughters enjoyed the Linguini & Clams and the Boursin Bacon Burger as well. Service was friendly and attentive throughout the meal. The only minor downside was that our water glasses weren't refilled unless we asked. One surprise was how quiet it was for 6:30 on a Friday night. It wasn't busy at all, but that made it easy to have a conversation without competing with a noisy dining room. We finished with the crème brûlée and chocolate mousse cake, and both desserts were a great way to end the meal. Overall, a nice dinner with good food, friendly service, and a relaxed atmosphere. Hopefully next time we'll get to try that Queen Cut ribeye!

Very disappointing since we…read morelove the location & ambiance, & I have family history here dating back to my great grandmother. Food review: lump crab cakes said in no filler, clearly there was filler & no white lump meat. French dip meat was tough meat & cut too thick, clams & linguine had weirdly thick & pasty wine sauce and noodles over cooked, coconut shrimp were fried dark (old oil?) and Cesar salad did not have romaine lettuce. After bad meals, the dessert was a pleasant surprise with amazing cheese cakes and hot good coffee. $224 for 5 people at lunchtime. My friends won't go back again.

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!…read more 1. Food is great. I have never had a bad meal here. I craved their gyro when I was pregnant. 2. Drinks are on point. This may be our favorite & our go to date night spot. My husband & I have been coming here ever since they opened years ago. When you walk in the place is clean & everyone is happy. Servers are knowledgeable & helpful. Def 10/10!

So unfortunately, we didn't eat there because I wanna be fair and give a proper review on the food…read moresince it is a restaurant. But we didn't make it to the food. We didn't make it past trying the beers. We knew the place had reopened under new ownership and wanted to give it a shot. We walked in and were seated promptly. Right away I noticed there were crumbs all over the floor. That's a major red flag, not a good first impression. Decided to try some beers. We placed an order with the waitress for three tasters. She informed us one of them was brand new, and all of their other beers were from the original owners. A minute later, another waitress came over and says that our server can't service alcohol because she's not of age and to give her the order. When I said one of them was one of the new beers she had no idea what I was talking about. Strange. What is most strange is that why is a server working at a brewery who can't serve alcohol? That's a new one for me. Let's just say the beers were awful. They were flat, tasteless and not entirely up the temp. We got up and walked out and went to the Trolley Barn across the street.
