John's Place is a great place for lunch in Peru. All the items are made with care. Soups, salads, sandwiches and the burgers are very good and super affordable. The staff is attentive and the shakes and malts ar the bomb. I eat there at least once a week. The smash burgers are really good. I can't recommend John's Place enough. I spotted John's Place on Yelp while looking for ice cream restaurants. We walked in to just a simple cafe with tables and bar stools surrounding the counter. There are around a dozen flavors of scoop ice cream available on one side of the counter. The prices were super reasonable. I ordered a ham salad sandwich for $2.50. It was a generous portion with lots of pickle relish on soft large slices of marble rye (other bread choices were available). I also ordered a chocolate malt. Mr R had the Saturday cheeseburger special (included a bag of chips) and an iced tea. The meat comes fresh from a local market and they patty it on site. All of this for under $12 before tip. Cash only. Service was very friendly. I'm sure we'll stop back. I'd like to try the sloppy joes and some of their homemade soups. read more

The food is fantastic, but the way they keep raising the prices is what makes me leave three stars. Called to order, their online menu says the cheeseburgers are $3. I called and all of a sudden they're $4. Seems like the menu updates every several months and it's more and more expensive. The menu uploaded just four months ago says $3. Hard to want to support a local business when they're constantly raising prices. I understand this whole coronavirus thing affected a lot of small businesses, but this is the first one that I've seen such a jump in pricing. I would rather support local businesses who also understand that businesses aren't the only ones that have taken a hit. read more

Great food at a fantastic price. Phenomenal service. They have the best homemade soups in the area. I especially like the lasagna soup and the creamy sausage and wild rice soup. They offer a different soup every day, but always have chili and ravs n' broth. You can't go wrong ordering the soup at Johns! Also, the first Friday of each month is pork tenderloin day. The hand pound the porks in house and they are delicious. Word of warning though, pork day is very popular, so you better get there early, before they run out!!! read more

We really like the food and atmosphere here. It's your typical old timey coffee shop/diner. The one thing that's impossible to beat is the prices. We got a to-go lunch here today for our family of 4. 2 chicken salad sandwiches, cup of chili, 2 hot dogs and 2 bags of chips was NINE BUCKS! Left a couple bucks in the tip jar and our quick lunch was only $11. I almost can't make it at home for that cheap. It's worth a stop. Top it off with one of their wonderful, real ice cream shakes or malts. All served up quickly, carefully, and with a smile (no extra charge). We lived here for 8 years and finally made it here. The burger was juicy and excellent. Wife had the Italian beef, which was a roast shredded like you make at home in a slow cooker. This place is cheap and simple with no frills or fries. We deffinately be back. read more
