Good, convenient oil change and polite staff. No problems. They were able to meet my specific needs.

I called John's Garage 2 days after returning from Seattle and finding my car with a dead battery. I won't go into all they did for me above and beyond their services, but I am recently widowed and didn't know what to do. They got my car started, took it to their business, and returned it to me the next day. These business people were heroes to me. Thank you John and Kimberly. read more

In from Michigan back brake go bad. I called John and he got me right in. Everyone was really friendly and helped me out. I can't recommend John's Garage enough. It's also really nice to know that there are good people that are willing to help out in an emergency situation. So give them a call you will be satisfied with the service you get read more

John is very knowledgeable and honest about what truly needs to be done to your vehicle. He saved me a lot of money around Christmas time.

Hands down the best car shop I've been to. John is incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful (without being condescending, for those of us that aren't auto experts). I just moved here from a warm climate, and he gave me tons of tips. He even helped clean the leaves out from under my hood and made sure the battery jumper pack I bought would work well for my car. The appointment took a little longer than expected because he was so thorough, so next time I probably won't plan on staying/ waiting while he works. Very reasonable prices and stellar service. Won't dread taking my car in any more like I used to. read more

While working on my 2006 F-150, John accidentally scratched the paint on the passenger side rear quarter panel. I probably wouldn't have noticed, but John called to inform me what happened and scheduled the repair at his own expense. Most importantly, anytime I've had a vehicle in John's shop the repair was performed in a reasonable amount of time and at a fair price. What else needs to be said? read more

Without any doubt, I have found my new repair shop. I drive an older model Mercedes ML320cdi and recently had it at three Twin Cities shops (after the dealership tried to 'bait and switch' me I walked out complaining LOUDLY for all to hear in my best deaf guy voice). All metro shops wanted almost as much just to diagnose it as John's Garage did for the entire repair. It may be a bit of a drive and they don't do loaner cars (highly recommended this as it would pull others in) but SO worth it to work with a man who is straightforward and honest about his work. I will drive the miles to have any significant work done on my vehicles. John's Garage is a hidden gem!!! #johnsgarage #mercedes #importautoshop #autorepair read more

New or old this guy can fix it! A low cost mechanic like this guy is hard to find these days!

I stopped in to see John because of my husband's recommendation. My van was acting a little funny on Hwy 52 from Northfield to Rochester. Before I left town, I stopped by. John drove my van on the highway and gave me a good report. He didn't charge me anything! What a nice guy and caring to a woman who was a bit worried to make the hour drive back to Northfield! Thank you read more

I arrived without an appointment and was serviced immediately. Our SUV received a synthetic oil change, 6 quarts, for only $68. John was competent, knowledgable, friendly, and efficient. I will recommend that all my friends and family use John as their new mechanic. His shop is back behind a car dealership, so be watching for the John's Garage sign. read more

I am new in town and needed an oil change. They are honest and friendly and told me all kinds of information about my car that I didn't even know. Just a good spot to go and get your car needs done. read more

I didn't want to go to the dealers for my Mazda as I am sure they were just trying to get more money out of me. I looked up auto repair shops in Rochester and found John's Garage. I am taking a very long trip by myself and wanted to make sure nothing was going to fail on me while driving. John was very nice and was honest about what really didn't need immediate repair plus I get Emergency Roadside assistance coverage where ever I go through the FMPPartners Network which John's Garage is part of for a year as of the day of service at the garage. I am so glad I used this garage and will continue to do so. read more

I just moved back to area and was looking for someone to service my older audi, I am so glad I found John. He is great about getting me in quickly. He is really up front about what repairs are really needed and what alternatives are possible. And amazingly doesn't seem to think that because I happen to be female I must not understand anything. Glad I have not needed him much, but also really glad I found him. read more

I have been working with John for a number of years. He is always friendly, knowledgeable, responsive, and fair. He will always be honest with you about the options for your vehicle and he has a high level of integrity. He does not try to sell you anything that is not recommended to prolong the life of your car and he tries to educate you on the performance and need of it. I have had the pleasure of working with John for my vehicles and I have referred a number of people to him. read more

I have done my own car repairs and maintenance for about 35 years, but am getting to the point where I would rather give the more major repairs to someone else. I started shopping around for a mechanic, and John got good reviews. What has impressed me about John - he takes the time to talk through the repair, discuss costs, what is needed, what is not. He's very conscious about part quality, knows what he's doing, has reasonable labor rates, does his work on time, and is easy to deal with. I know cars very well, and was impressed that he was able to talk to me, not AT me, no BS, just a straight-up guy. I got burned by mechanics / shops early on, so I was admittedly very skittish ... John earned my trust in about 10 minutes. Had him replace a rack and pinion on my Sienna, great work, good quality parts. Will be going back to him ! read more

After my daughter had her Mercedes in to get fixed just a few weeks earlier, she was stuck on the Interstate near Austin, on a Saturday afternoon before Christmas, with no steering. The mechanics in Austin noticed the recent repairs and told her the guys in Rochester must be incompetent. The belt and pulley was so badly worn when they replaced it, there was NO reason they should have missed it. Guess she needs to go to Austin, MN for her Mercedes repairs! read more

Fantastic. Hit a deer coming up from southeastern WI and had to trust someplace I'd never been to fix my car for the 5 hour return trip. Honest, affordable, thorough. Would absolutely come back and recommend! PS: bring treats for the office puppy. read more

I'm new to Rochester and needed an oil change for my Suburu. I wanted to avoid a dealership and receive fair and honest service. I will certainly return to John's Garage for future service. John operates his own garage and you certainly don't feel like you're being had. John took a lot of time to explain things, which is unlike any shop I have previously used. read more

John has worked on my VW Touareg a number of times with excellent results. A very honest accommodating person. Rochester is lucky to have this business, he keeps my cars going from A to B! read more

I recently relocated to Rochester from NY state where I had a mechanic who specialized in German vehicles. A little research revealed that John's Garage might be a good option locally. I have since taken my car to John for repairs, and he has beyond exceeded my expectations in finding a mechanic. Not only does John truly understand German engineering, he is extremely competent in his repairs and honest about what the vehicle needs and what it does not. Best of all perhaps, John takes the time to explain the issue thoroughly and never makes you feel hurried. I am thrilled I ran across John's shop and will continue to use him for any repair or maintenance issue. read more
