Picture this, you take your 2017 Ford F-150 in to John's Complete Auto Care in perfect condition. Fully serviced by Ford on 09/21/22
You ask the owner, and his son if they are able to install a lift kit to your vehicle. Hands down, everyone that works there says, "Yeah man, we can install that and do your alignment afterwards." The quote was $350 at 11am. Fast forward to 1pm and they're asking for another $150 because 8 bolts had to be cut. My diamond cutting wheel at home would run through 8, 1/2" bolts in a matter of minutes, but I let that obvious price gauging go. I just wanted my truck back. Get the truck back and am told that they couldn't do an alignment do to size if truck. So, silly me expecting some type of financial relief, since this was part of the quote. Immediately take my truck to Stouts Automotive in Clearwater for an alignment, they flat out refused to do the alignment because the lift kit was pulling my upper control arms into the coil. Stouts Automotive told me that my truck in that condition should have never left their shop. It was a dangerous situation that could possibly injure my wife or I while driving due to a control arm failure. I called and texted with the owners son, who told me to bring it in. I was pretty upset at this point, because I trusted them to do a sound job on my vehicle. I take my truck back to the shop, owner and son look at the issue and immediately tell me that yes, it is in fact dangerous and the lift kit would need to be deleted. I asked the mechanic why he failed to notice that this need either more parts to complete the kit (which would have been fine with me) , and more importantly why he sent it out of the shop in that condition. He just agreed again that it was dangerous and he's fix it. Offered me a refund. So...truck sits in the shop from Friday afternoon until Tuesday. They deleted the lift, and rather than save my OEM parts that they removed in the first place, they tossed them and actually charged me for new ones. They did give me some of of the $500 back, $200 to be replaced exact. The treatment from the owner and staff was despicable and the fact that they sent my vehicle out of the shop in a condition that could possibly harm my family or I says everything about this business that you need to know. Rather than correct a serious situation, they brushed me off. The worst part is that after the delete, they still told me that they would be unable to do an alignment. So not only did I pay $300 to get my truck back in worse shape than I dropped it off, I have to come out of pocket even more because the alignment is screwed. 10 out of 10 recommend that you go to a shop with warranties behind their work. This place is not it. Also, please use your credit card and do not pay cash for your own protection. read more
