This coney is one of my favorites. I've been eating here for something like 20 years. Yummy!

Motown Cafe & Grill - Chicken & Waffles

Motown Cafe was awesome and one of my favorite surprise Detroit breakfast spots…read more The first point I'd make about this spot is it's an incredible bang for your buck. If you took their Catfish and Grits and stuck in a Downtown, Midtown or Eastern Market location, it'd cost at least $27. It comes with 3 huge filets of Catfish, 2 Eggs and Grits. Here, it's only $18 and there is a 0% chance you're not taking some home unless you're Kobyashi. The Chicken and Waffles was fantastic as well, and again, you're getting a huge portion for around $14. You are almost guaranteed to be taking some home. I was super impressed. The Catfish was well made and didn't have a ton of batter caked on to it which is my only deal breaker when it comes to Catfish. I put some hot sauce on it and it was fantastic with the Grits and Eggs. The Chicken on the chicken and waffles and juicy, hot and huge. It had a flavorful batter on it, but it wasn't too much to where you felt like they were chicken tenders off the kids menu. The service was awesome and our waitress was incredibly accommodating (Multiple Coffee refills, brought out a bunch of condiments, nice). The store owner was incredibly nice as well. The inside is a clean diner with comfortable booths. You're not packed in here and your party isn't spilling into other people's tables like other spots. It's a very relaxing spot to eat midday when you have things coming up and just need peace. This area of Van Dyke doesn't have many restaurants, so go and patronize this one that's a bit off the beaten path. You won't leave disappointed or hungry!

First to try the delicious Chinese food from the resident chef who owns Chi Fan Le. There was so much to choose from and every dish was excellently prepared and authentic. On my second visit, I tried the regular menu and loved the delicious soup and salad. Please keep the Roasted Beet + Citrus Salad and the Curried Leek And Corn Chowder as permanent menu items or at least on regular rotation. I will return to have both items again. Free street parking as well as a free small parking lot kitty corner from the restaurant.

There is currently an awesome Chi Fan Le residency in the cafe right now, with incredibly delicious Chinese American dishes that rotate as well between breakfast and lunch and everything is FANTASTIC! They also have their own menu of coffee, tea, and other drinks for you to order from, along with their own food menu outside of Chi Fan Le, but I highly recommend ordering off the Chi Fan Le menu while you still can! If you order food and drink, they'll bring the food to whatever table you're sitting at in the cafe's adjoining seating area when it's ready and they bus the items for you as well. The service is incredible, the vibes are high, and it's a glorious place to grab a bite or stay for awhile snacking and coworking as well! I love BasBlue Cafe!

Good, not great. I'd eat here again if someone else wanted to go, but I wouldn't seek it out. I…read morewould choose five guys over little ghost. The Burger: The patty is the highlight. It has perfect density, is well-seasoned, and is easily 15% better than a Five Guys patty. The Toppings: The lack of customization is frustrating. No extra options or toppings are allowed. It comes with American cheese, shredded iceberg lettuce (not a fan), and way too much sauce. The sauce itself is okay, but the burger was drowning in it. The Fries: Good firmness, they definitely hold their shape better than Five Guys but Five Guys' Cajun fries still win on flavor. The Value: I paid about $20 for a burger, fries, and a tip. It feels expensive, but with Five Guys at $18 and a McDonald's Big Arch meal at $14 these days, the price is fairly standard for the current market.

Ordered a single, a double, two drinks and fries. Totally was 34$. Very expensive I feel. Food was good though. I did enjoy the burger. The single was enough. They don't have any toppings for the burger besides cheese, lettuce and their ghost sauce (basically mayo, pickles and maybe tomatoes). They do have packets of ketchup and mustard if you ask. Fries were fresh and you can tell. This was my favorite thing. They were actually very good. I didn't care for the fancy sauce too much though. But the size of the fries are shareable I feel. Overall I would come here again and try other food. But, with the lack of toppings for the price, it would steer me away.
