They Should've Called It Johnny Rocket's Tax Show Came in to grab a few fireworks for the 4th--left wondering if I accidentally co-signed a mortgage. The selection looked good at first, but the real "fireworks show" happened at the register. On top of regular prices, I got hit with a 12% Indiana Fireworks Tax, two mystery taxes (seriously, they don't even explain what they are), and a 3% "convenience fee" just for paying with a card. By the end, I spent nearly $76 in fees on a $259 order--almost 30% extra, gone in a puff of smoke. The receipt reads like a scam receipt from a carnival. "2 taxes" just thrown together with no breakdown, no warning, no explanation. And the so-called promotions? Might as well have been a participation trophy--barely made a dent. I don't mind paying for quality fireworks--but if you're gonna tax me like I'm importing explosives from another planet, at least be upfront about it. Bottom line: If you like financial surprises, go for it. If you like honesty and value, shop literally anywhere else. read more

While the store and people are nice I wouldn't return for further purchases. I picked up some items for the buy one get one free, same shelf, looked identical, price was the same, bag of fireworks When I went up to the register found out it was something different, almost identical but a different name, and still the same price. The store wouldn't honor the buy one get one, and had no choice but to pay full price. Wasn't paying attention until after I walked out the door. No one said anything to at the register about options or offering buy one get one on both, I didn't find out till I was down the road reviewing everything. Very disappointed, and I wasn't allowed back in for an exchange, so I won't be returning. While the selection is nice, open store, efficient, I rather give my money to a local place if that's the service at a big store with "great deals" read more

A day before my wedding my fiancé and I were looking for fireworks for our wedding. We were worried because Johnny's rockets fireworks was about to close but Johnny stayed open until we arrived. Amongst the different firework distributors nearby, Johnny Rockets is consistent with offering some of the best fireworks and prices. Find some better deals on loose and easy pick up items: i.e. Saturn batteries, morning glories, roman candles and smoke bombs. When it comes to repeaters and shells they are able to offer some of the best items at a comparable deal. I found a mini shell launcher, its unbelievably fucking loud. Message me and we can trade firework names.. LoL. Trust me, I've been buying from out of state places for years, Johnny Rockets is your one stop shop.. but doesn't have to be! Went to Krazy kaplins first now I feel like I got ripped off for real because Johnny rockets has way better deals! Kaplins has buy one get two free but actually they are jacked up prices on most so really your paying for them so called free fireworks! Also Johnny rockets has a massive selection from small basics to huge awesome fireworks! This is definitely my new go to place for the 4th! They are also a party store and open 24 hrs! If I could give it a zero star I would. What RUDE customer service from the actual OWNER!!!!! I would not recommend going here ~ plenty of other/better firework places to buy from. As far as retail goes, these guys are the best in the business, I was thrilled to walk in and find cakes like Pyro Candy, Vigil, Cathedral and Matrix Pyro.. their new Dominator product is freaking outstanding. I liked Randy. He did a great job making me feel at home, and adjusting prices to make sure I got everything I wanted. I've been to Kaplins, Boomtown, Phantom and many others... nobody has been able to match the prices that these guys offer on top end product. read more

I honestly was underwhelmed by the selection and "great deals". I would recommend trying elsewhere. Staff was nice but the owner, John "Johnny" I guess, was less than pleasant. Rude to another customer in front of me and ordered the staff around. I understand it's stressful around your peak season but this, on top of the not-so-great deals, turned me off. This year will mark my third in a row to buy my fireworks at Johnny Rockets. They are family-owned, super friendly, knowledgable, and the fireworks are priced well. From snappers to shells, they have an amazing selection. Last year was the first year I had ever purchased more than the "kiddie" stuff (spinners, fountains) and was looking for the right assortment of shells. They helped me pick out something in my price range but entertained the entire street. I would definitely recommend checking them out over the corporate/big box type stores. read more

Stopped in two days in a row and was treated well by the staff. "Joe" helped me both days, showing me around and helping me pick out exactly what I wanted. I was very impressed with his knowledge and friendly attitude. The checkout girls were super friendly and even gave my little guy a few smoke bombs as a little present. I pass by here from time to time and I feel compelled to see if anything has changed. Nope still the same junk place. They have great staff, but the prices are way high. I would come here over Phantom any day, then again phantom is the biggest piece of shit store around anywhere. I have also noticed prices going up all over in Indiana, even Boomtown which used to be great is going up in price this year. If you want the real prices you will need to drive to MO instead of IN. I am paying $50 for Excalibers anyone in Indiana going to beat that...I didn't think so! read more
