Johnny is not a man of his word! I hired Johnny Fixit to put a pump in my basement sink to pump water from my washer out of the sink which is below ground. Not only did he install the pump wrong but he forgot to put the hose back into the sink. The first wash I did flooded my basement! I called and he did come over but had a hard time believing he made a mistake! He fixed the pump but it was still not right! It allowed the water to come within an inch from the top of the sink! He promised me he would return and do some extra work at no charge. He never did and never answered my numerous phone calls! When I first met him he assured me he would treat me like he treats his mother! Needless to say he didn't do that! I do not recommend him at all. I had to get someone else to correctly fix the pump. My kitchen sink faucet need a replacement so I called John. He told me he was on a tight schedule but if I would go and purchase the faucet on my own. It would save time and money. When he arrived, he said all you need is a tighten this one valve. You don't need a new faucet! He then fixed a short in my one switch which took 2 minutes. He charged me $85 for that short time but he saved me $100 for being honest with me. I recommend him to anyone read more

Took my mom's money and ran! Came to my mom's house in the Town of Tonawanda to inspect her window cranks and said he could find the part and fix it. Gave him a small deposit and he promised to contact my mom once the part was in. 8.5 weeks later and he has had every excuse in the book not to replace the part from needing a colonoscopy, to his dad is sick, his truck broke down, his office mrg on vacation...HE IS A LYING SCAM ARTIST..... my mom wants her money back asap. read more

This was a horrible experience- I previously wrote a review in January 2020 but do not see it showing up- everyone needs to know that you should not give John Kent any money or hire him for any work. He scammed me, doesn't have proper license or insurance and stopped answering me after I paid him. The work was terrible and he took all of the supplies with him that I paid for. John Kent seemed like a nice guy but is a terrible handyman and terrible contractor. He is well intentioned but mismanages jobs and your money. Hey kept hiring other guys and then firing them because they were terrible or no shows. His guy painted our porch with the wrong color, there was paint on the windows, his tool belt scraped the paint off our newly painted bathroom walls (which he had just painted). He miscalculated how much tile we would need for our shower and despite having more than enough, his tile "expert" use cracked tiles on the wall and left is with an extra box of in tact tiles. Also, John could not, for the life of him, seem to get the grout between the tiles. We still have gaps after five times telling him to fill it in. This is just a few small examples. He changed his number several times and eventually disappeared completely. I would write more but it makes me sick to think about how horrible he was and the money we gave him. Outrageous. read more

John from Johnny Fix-It, gave me a great estimate for the installation of a sliding glass and exterior front door. He seemed like a nice enough guy, who was recommended by a friend he'd done a simple job for...something impossible to screw up. And since my friend offered to help John install my doors, I figured we were good. I became a bit suspicious when I requested a copy of his insurance. I live in an association, and this is required for any work altering the outside of my home. That's when the excuses and delays started. Supposedly, he was changing his business from a corporation to a DBA. This would take a little time, but not to worry...new insurance was forthcoming. After over 3 weeks of unanswered texts and phone calls, John finally called with even more of a sob story. Now he was delayed by an injury as well as a sick friend. Lucky for me I hadn't given him any down-payments. I then thought to do a quick search of his company and came up with a number of poor reviews, not only on YELP but the BBB too. Thank you to those who shared their experiences, and I'm sorry for your misfortune. Because of your honest opinions, you helped spare me the wrath of this con-artist. Johnny Fixit is a fraud. He comes across as a nice guy but is not. He is not capable of doing anything well. He is not licensed or insured. Don't be fooled by the BBB stickers on his van. I contracted him to install windows, install a dedicated GFI in a bathroom, paint a ceiling and replace tiles in a mudroom. I gave him a $500 check to order the windows and to start all contracted jobs. He had to measure the windows two times and told me he placed the order and windows would be installed in three weeks. I decided to go to the company he said he ordered the windows from. They said he did not place the order. It took Johnny three days to finally start the electrical work. He asked me for a hammer because he forgot his. He was at my home for six hours and only worked 1 1/2 hours because he claimed he was sick. He made a mess by cutting holes in all the wrong places. At this point I have seen enough. He told me he wanted another draw of $400 to continue working. The next morning I told him the windows were not ordered and he said why are you checking on me. Had a horrible experience working with John from Johnny Fixit for an investment property we own that currently has tenants living there. He left the project uncompleted after we paid $2500 to get 1 bathroom plumbing issue repaired, 2 bathtub surrounds and medicine cabinets installed. He ended up not being licensed to complete work in the City of Buffalo, did not get necessary permits to complete the work and when an inspector from the City of Buffalo came, he told me he was going to tell them he was a family member to avoid needing a permit. After telling John that we were not comfortable doing that and that he needed to get a permit for the work, he quit and took all of the materials that we purchased with him. He is dishonest and strung us along for 3 weeks, for a job that was supposed to take a week and a half. We paid him 3 times during this process, totaling $2500 out of $3250. After speaking with the tenants, they told us that John was not coming everyday and when he did come, he would stay for 2-3 hours and then leave, and left the bathrooms and other areas of the house a complete mess. He sent us a text saying he was quitting and sent an email as well, which I replied to but never heard back from him. We still have to hire another company to do the projects that he failed to do and we still have a plumbing leak in the bathroom. I called Johnny Fixit because I needed a float put in my toilet tank. The gentleman came in that evening and put one in. He charged me $80 for this (outrageous), and then proceeded to tell me that I needed to learn how to do this myself. (Of course, if I'd known how to do it myself, I wouldn't have needed him to fix it, but I guess he didn't think of that). Will never do business with this company again. read more

John Kent has done several handyman jobs for me since 12/2016 and at first I was pleased although I put my foot down telling him if you say you're going to be here at 8 and I get up and dressed and you show up at 11 it pisses me off. His work was acceptable, not great but in 2018 his prices soared, he stood me up several times, stole some tools from my garage, returned half of them, kept the rest, left debris in my yard 4 weeks and has left 2 installations (doorbell and exterior motion light) not working and 1 job incomplete. He removed a piece of drywall to match the paint and left the hole and the paint did not match plus was a very sloppy job. He hasn't called me back for 2 months although I've left 7 messages. Home Adviser has removed him and Better Business Bureau has him as an F rating. Do not use him! read more

Since then, I have only been able to get a hold of him once, and he promised to call back but never did. I waited almost a month but I had to get someone else to do the work. I needed to find a contractor to handle a small but important project for my elderly parents. The scope included enlarging a pantry closet in the kitchen to accommodate a stackable W/D unit and the plumbing and electrical to go with the work. Living out of town, and not having the ability to oversee the work was a concern of mine. I asked the management if Arthur's Hardware in Orchard Park for recommendations. They gave me John Kent's card. John is the owner of Johnny Fix it. John provided a realistic quote for the work and was there for the execution. He indicated the work would take about 6-7 days. It took 7. Including himself, two people completed the work. They were polite, professional, caring and, most important to my wife, clean. Two or three little changes along the way were handled, and pricing for these was in line with the original scope of work. The job came in as promised and budgeted. John is a good guy. To me, a scope of work that allows John to be in complete control of the work is in his wheel house and will leave the home owner the most satisfied. This project fit that description. read more
