Fade/ tapered barber shop. Cuts to cost are reasonable but you'll have to talk to customers to learn who is best. Some cuts & beard styles walk outta here looking astounding. While there are others that are janky beginning to end. Jagged, misaligned fades and lining. Yet they will ask for that full money. There are good and bad barbers. Some could use scissors but most use an electric shaver. Sit awhile and you'll see whose chair is always in use. Also pay attention to how they maintain their work stations and tools. I remember one barber that never cleaned station or his tools. So whenever he would reach for the electric shaver, his tool would scratch my head leaving a mark. I have seen customers wince and complain to no avail (even after indicating these pains to the barber) and children swell with tears. So parents, standby and keep a watchful eye focused. You can always ask for a different barber. It's good to choose a barber in advance and let them know you are up next. Playing by chance, which is how their management runs it, can irritate. As in other hair shops that don't take names/ appointments, if you don't assert your position your seat can be grabbed by another. Though most people (customers) are good enough to acknowledge who came first, you can't blindly trust. Everyone has a place to be and often times, especially weekends, your competitors can be cut throat. Once you're in the seat, now the real trial is at hand. What antics the barber has and whether you'll get a great, stylish cut or need to cancel your evening plans. The bad customer service antics can be too much. Line hoppers. Barbers catapulting their regulars over walk-ins. Those of us commuting by car are paying for the time we wait and management can seem inconsiderate to that aspect. Coming here would waste more time than staying home and trying to cut your hair yourself with scissors. Come in my first time and ask for a simple fade, dude recedes my hairline to add an extra 10 years to my age, along with the most horrendous line up I've ever seen. Then when I call him out on it, he stops me in the middle of the haircut to take me out the chair, bring me to a mirror (when we already had one in front of us) to explain how I was wrong, to the guy who gets his hair cut every 2 weeks and knows what a straight line looks like. With the worst part of the whole thing being the 35$ charge for a simple fade and lineup which he messed up both and said I was wrong and didn't know my own hair Regardless, having a razor at home and simple common sense comes in handy for situations like this. I Guess don't trust every 4 star barbershop, and make sure you actually know people who go to places like this and can give you real reviews instead of people over the internet. I have gotten to know a few of the barbers here. I have gone to many barbers in Chicago and this place is one of the only few consistent places here and charges reasonable prices. John is the owner and is the most experienced one. I get my haircut from Steven which does his best to make sure everything is PERFECT from the fade to the lining of your beard. They do girls hair now, since they have hired hair stylist as well as do people's eyebrows with the string, I personally don't touch my natural gorgeous eyebrows. They also have a facial cleanse station for 20 dollars, which I was the first one to use it when they got it! The machine throws hot mist to your face and they target different areas around your face until your face is ready to start being touched by those magical thumbs from those Syrians/ middle eastern people to pop and take out ALL of your black heads. (Sorry got side tracked back to the hair) Yeah everyone does a good job it's just mostly up to you to find a barber you connect with, tip him or her well, and you got yourself a place to get Great looking hair for a very long time. I was going to go to a place in Wicker Park but a friend recommended Johnny Blades. I was able to make an appt the day before very easily - which I highly recommend or you will be waiting awhile to be seen. An appt is an extra $5 but WORTH IT. I got a haircut and beard trim which would have been $30 but because I booked an appt, it was $35. (Wicker Park was charging $65)... double the price. Anyway, I got there... I wasn't sure what to do. There were chairs and a line of people sitting waiting in those chairs. My appt was for 10... I sat in a chair feeling defeated like I was never going to be seen and that the appt I made was pointless... and finally a guy came out from the back and asked if someone was here for Sam. Me! I got in Sam's chair - quiet very well put together man with an awesome beard! I showed him a picture ... and that was about it for the next 30 min. I got a cut, hot towel, beard trim and straight razor treatment... in 30 min (Wicker Park was going to have me there for an Hr). By far the best haircut I've gotten... probably ever...I got up, paid the man my dues (Tipped him well, he deserved it) and on with my day! Highly recommend .. I usually cut my hair myself unless a special occasion. I will be back for regular cuts for sure! read more

This time around the new barbers aren't the best at owning their mistakes. I left today with a bald spot after watching her technique not being the best and making faces of worry. She didn't apologies or own up to the mistake of making a bald spot or even compensating for this. She acted like it's been there before to save her own skin. I come here about every two weeks to get my undercut buzzed and I have never seen this place NOT completely packed, regardless of the day of the week or time of day (Monday afternoon, Wednesday morning, seriously EVERY TIME). Second of all-they take their regular clients before you even if you sat there forever. This place sucks. My husband and son have been going there for long time but those barbers don't appreciate the regulars. Its not first come first serve and all they do is talk and text while cutting the hair and takes forever. You ppl need a clipboard with each barbers name and customers need to sign up.get your crap together because your going to loose customers with your lack of professionalism. I have been in Chicago for over a year...and no one has been able to cut my hair so I stuck with my girl in Milwaukee. In a pinch, I began looking for a quick fix that was open on Sunday and my GF and I stumbled upon this place. Not sure what to expect I went in anyway and waited for about 20 to 30 minutes before sitting in a chair. I showed the guy a photo of what I was looking for and he did the D@MN THING! Within about 25 to 30 minutes and for only $10! I tipped another $10 of course because I was so pleased and because he did great work in a short period of time and because I've paid $40 plus for cuts that don't even compare.
