Stopped in for drinks and had a great time soaking in the amazing views--definitely one of the highlights of this spot. Whether you're sitting inside by the windows or out on the patio, the scenery alone makes it worth the visit. We came during happy hour (4-6 PM), which made the experience even better--great drink specials and a solid selection to choose from. The vibe was lively but relaxed, and while it does get pretty busy (especially during happy hour), the atmosphere still felt enjoyable, not overwhelming. Parking was surprisingly easy--plenty of spots, which is always a bonus. If you're looking for a great place to grab drinks with a view, this one should be on your list. Just get there a little early if you want a prime seat!

    The view!

Food and service were great--along with the beautiful river view! I had the crab and asparagus soup and the shrimp bowl. Considering moving here.

Is there a store and is it open?

Yes and it is really cute and eclectic - we went to John Wright just for the shop.

My wife had the fish and chips. Food was good and plentiful. Service was very good, ate with some old friends, there was no rush, they gave us plenty of space. The menu is varied, specials are not typical fare, but also do not become science projects like so many "creations" do. The food is left to speak for itself. Affordable. Two small criticisms, can be loud in certain areas. They are very accommodating in moving you. The parking lot. Walking over the bridge can be an issue with cars. Worth the trip.

It sounds bold, and it is, but it works beautifully. The broth is rich and deeply savory, the cheese pull is perfect, and the crispy rings add a texture you never knew the classic was missing. The pork chop remains the star of the menu--huge, expertly seasoned, and cooked with precision. It's widely considered the best in the city, and honestly might be the best in the state. Juicy, tender, and full of flavor, it's the kind of entrée you end up recommending to friends for weeks. Their octopus is another standout, prepared with surprising delicacy. Tender, not chewy, with a perfect char that adds just the right amount of smokiness. It's balanced, refined, and one of the most memorable small plates you'll find locally. And don't leave without dessert--the crème brûlée is phenomenal. Silky smooth custard under a flawlessly torched sugar crust that cracks just right. Simple, classic, and executed perfectly. Between the inventive dishes and the warm atmosphere, The First Post remains a must-visit for anyone who loves great food done exceptionally well.

The atmosphere was nice and there is a huge back section outside with rocks that the kids were able to play in since no one was seated there. They have a covered patio as well as an open area closer to the bar- lots of outdoor space. The food took a little bit to come out but they were understaffed. The food was DELICIOUS! We had mild wings, pretzel sticks and the famous PB burger. Everything was fresh and hot and perfectly seasoned. I'll say these were the best wings I've had in PA! Great spot, we will be back for sure, I highly recommend stopping in!!

Then she said, "you know who does great tuna salad? It's a diner over in Columbia!" But she couldn't remember right there what it was called. I googled diners in Columbia and I read back to her she shouted , "Black Olive"!!!! I'm here with two friends but didn't order tuna as it's breakfast and so I ordered eggs Benedict with turkey sausage instead of the Canadian bacon, and lemon on the side since I love my hollandaise sauce tangy. I get my order but not as I requested. Canadian bacon is in there and turkey sausage on a side plate. The hollandaise sauce looks like melted cheddar and no lemon on the side. Worst of all I cut into the poached eggs and they're too hard. Well I was just too disappointed in their skill level to ask them to redo. Our amazing waitress was trying to talk me into ordering something else if I didn't want a redo. She had a manager come by and I told him what I ordered and how I got it. It was ok I didn't want to trouble anyone. He insisted they'd get it right so I gave in. A few minutes later he presents me with jiggly poached eggs on top of turkey sausage and wedges of lemon. I will say I was impressed the second time around, though the hollandaise sauce needs work! Here's a quick blender recipe Ingredients: 3 egg yolks, 1 tbsp lemon juice, pinch salt, 1/2 cup hot melted butter. No need to make it from powder. You "can" taste the difference! Over all very happy with the cleanliness, service, attention and will be back mid March for that tuna sandwich. Mmm can't wait!
