Mrs G and I had passed this pub several times and had always promised ourselves that we would try it. It is an independent pub/inn that is not tied to a big national chain (which to me means that they have the same mass produced food as all the others in the big chain). Today we got our chance since just after passing the pub we saw that the river had severely flooded its banks and the road was totally closed - so we turned around and had lunch!
Ample parking even though the place was VERY busy (1pm Friday Dec 29 2023). We walked in, greeted with a cosy buzz and very helpful and friendly staff. The decoration and ambiance were welcoming and we were lucky to get a table for 4 (for just us two) right by a blazing wood fire - perfect!! We both had a pint of cider, Mrs G had the lamb and mint pie which she really enjoyed while I had the sausages and mash.
Two thumbs up - yes we will be back!
