John Peck is fantastic! I was in a terrible accident last November, and even though there were other people at Farmers handling my medical claim, and the damage to my car, he as my agent followed up several times throughout the process, just to make sure I was ok and that I was getting the help I needed from everyone at Farmers. This accident happened when I lived with my mother and I was under her policy.
Recently when I moved into my own place, it was time to get my own big girl insurance policy. John was very patient and knowledgeable about all of the options, and very thoughtfully answered all of my questions and worked with me to get me all of the insurance benefits that were important to me. I had a brand new car (my previous car went to the big open freeway in the sky with the last accident) and brand new big girl insurance, and I felt 100% confident that I was safe and taken care of by my insurance agent.
Three days short of a month later, I was rear-ended, in my new car, four car pile up, and the car who caused the chain reaction fled the scene. Enter my Monday morning horror story for a minute:
1. I was still having nightmares about my previous accident
2. I JUST bought my first car as an adult, that I financed all by myself.
3. I hadn't even printed my insurance info to put in my car (rookie mistake!) so I was scrambling to get ahold of anyone at Farmers, oh, as my phone was dying, in the rain, on the side of the freeway in Monday morning rush hour traffic. I was disoriented and panicked to say the least.
4. The person behind me had insurance, but we had no idea about the car that fled the scene. I thought I was supposed to contact the insurance company of the person who had directly hit me to file a damage claim, but after three messages left, I still had not received a call back. That led me on a wild goose chase through the Farmers/Mercury insurance bureaucracy to figure out how I was going to get my car repaired. On top of all that, it was the holidays so a lot of people I had talked to the last time around were taking time off to spend time with their families. I spoke to one person at Farmer's Help Point Claim Services that made me feel even more lost and hopeless, he was very dismissive and didn't seem to care that I was distraught over this traumatic event that I was dealing with, he told me sarcastically "good luck trying to get the other company to pay, but it ain't gonna happen."
I spent a week during Christmas, dwelling on this conversation, thinking I wasn't going to be helped. I felt like my insurance company was not doing it's job, it was not advocating for me and making sure that I was taken care of. It finally occured to me that I should just call John, to get his opinion.
When I told him what had been going on for the last month, I could tell he was upset that I wasn't taken care of. He wanted to know who "helped" me, so he could set things straight, and he contacted everyone that had been working on my claim and got them to follow up with me. Except that one guy who was very rude, I hope he doesn't last long, he doesn't quite fit into the Farmers family. Everyone else at Farmers was fantastically helpful, and reopened my claim after that person uncompassionately closed it as I cried on the telephone.
Within a week John had the whole thing sorted out, my car is now in the shop and I'm in a cute little rental, all covered by my insurance policy that he set up for me. He is truly an amazing agent. read more
