Had read about Jerusalem Bagels, but never tried them before. So on my trip to Montréal, decided to…read morecheck out Bagel Fréna, of course not realizing that its neighborhood in Lachine was not just down the block from where I was staying in the center of town. Well, the adventure was worth it... enough that I returned a 2nd time on my trip! Bagel Fréna is a relaxed neighborhood spot specializing in these Israeli and Moroccan delights, resulting from its extremely friendly owner's cultural background. A corner location, its front windows were fully open allowing a light breeze to complement the warm, late summer air. The music fit the chill vibe. Jerusalem Bagels (a.k.a. Ka'ak or Simit) are flat, oval bagels coated in sesame. Mine had also green olives, perfect with Za'atar Hummus. To drink, I enjoyed their sweet Moroccan Tea made with fresh mint leaves, which reminded me of my time years back in Marrakech and Fez. On my next visit to Bagel Fréna in addition to another cup of that fantastic Moroccan Tea, I decided to try their Jerusalem Pita, also coated with sesame. This time, I filled the warm bread with Olive Cream Cheese and Moroccan Roasted Red Peppers. All flavorful and sensational! Can imagine Bagel Fréna would be a nice place to hang out with a friend or two, while you're eating or going for their Turkish Coffee. You'll find also shelves of games to play to pass the time. Definitely recommend checking it out!!!

They have a selection of quiches, salads and sandwiches. There are no wrong choices every thing is fresh and flavourful. They have a chocolat and desert section that looks delicious. But you cant leave without trying a croissant or chocolatine. They melt in your mouth. If you stop by for breakfast you can get a made to order breafast sanwich on a croissant. The staff is very welcoming. They will take care of your order from start to finish no chain work here. There is plenty of place to eat on site and you can get lost in conversation with your best friend without worrying about being ask to leave. Well that is if you don't stay up to closing time. Which is the only downside of this place. They close at 6pm on week ends and 7 during the week. Wifi is available and there they put a few table outside when the weather is nice.

Here you'll find some delicate little pastries, beautiful and yummy cakes, bread, and some little lunch appropriate foods (e.g. sandwiches, quiches, various salads etc), and hot beverages. I didn't try their lunch items but their pastries and cakes are wonderful! Not too sweet, very beautifully decorated, and many options! They also have Christmas logs around the holiday season too! Their lattes are pretty good as well! There's also a small area where you can eat or drink your coffee there. They usually close around 5pm however so keep that in mind. The prices are also very reasonable as well!
