Dr. Fjerstad is very knowledgeable and has ended my foot pain with orthotics. I recently broke a bone in my big toe. I did this while on an out of state camping trip. I called the Doctor after being treated by a questionable Urgent Care Facility. I explained the problem and the Doctor told me to march back to the Urgent Care facility and tell them to give me a post operative shoe to immobilize the toe. He also made an appointment for me to see him after I returned to town. I'm am so appreciate that he took the time to speak with me, took control of the situation. read more

The nurses shame you for declining voluntary services and attempt to present them as if they are required (like taking your picture). Also both the doctor and the nurse did not close the door to my appointment room while talking about confidential information, which I thought was close to a HIPAA violation as other patients in the hall could hear. I let the doctor know my concerns and decided not to use them moving forward. read more

I have felt very uncomfortable sitting next to the display of The Mormon Bible, and the other Mormon literature displayed. The proximity makes it feel like a too-small waiting room. It has struck me as bizarre and inappropriate that a medical provider would be so unprofessional as to present his religion to his patients. I went to him to have a toe nail which was had gotten a fungus filed down for a second time. It had been about two years. He came across as rigid and judgmental when he announced in a tone of disapproval and exasperation how long it had been since my last visit This struck me as offensive, as I had been told that there was no treatment for it; plus, I am an adult, and I decide when I go to a podiatrist, and do not respond positively when guilt-tripped. I have read that each member of the Mormon Church has to turn over 10% of their income, should they wish to attend any special event, such as a wedding, at a temple, but I am not responsible for building up his income by coming when I have no reason to. I am inserting lots of "allegedly" here for legal protection. His assistant was very pleasant and helpful to me. However, I recognized him as the man who wrote (allegedly) hostile emails to a woman member of the Eureka City Council who did not agree with him politically. He was also (allegedly) accused of stalking her. In a later email to her, he (allegedly) made a point of his knowing of the existence of her young daughter, (the two had never met and there was no connection between them). I had read that in a newspaper, and felt shocked. I questioned that part of the assistant's past to Fjerstad who then began to seem unreceptive, rigid, and defensive on behalf of the other man, and stated that they share the same church. He then filed down my toenail, and left it rough and uneven; it repeatedly caught on my socks and hosiery until I took it upon myself to shape and smooth it myself. I will not be returning to that office. He will know who the author of this review is, and I do not care. read more

What a kind, caring, and professional staff! Dr. Fjerstad diagnosed, explained all my options, and then patiently answered all my questions concerning my foot pain. I couldn't be happier with the results. The entire office, from doctor to all staff members, reflects a perfect example of exemplary customer service. My wife went to Dr Fjerstad for orthotics. She was so pleased, I decided I should also go to him. My orthotics are over 25 years old. He looked at them and immediately pointed out some problems. When being measured for new orthotics, I discovered he has a new digital machine, which is superior technology. Since I mentioned to his staff why I wanted to see him, he directed his staff to check to see if my insurance would pay and how much. Everything was so smooth and professional. Upon entering his business, his team member was on the phone but she immediately acknowledged me. This shows how important their clients are to them. I am extremely impressed with him and his team. His knowledge and demeanor were amazing. I would strongly recommend you look at your shoes and if you see uneven wear or have any problems walking, standing or running, go see him!!!!! Being in the insurance business for almost 40 years I learned what was important to people. He hits a home run on all accounts. read more

I was not surprised that at my first visit he offered a cortisone injection. I hear that is what he always does. It did not help, but I knew there was a 10% chance it wouldn't. I also knew I needed more than an injection, but at my first visit I was told wearing a brace or getting an X-ray was not needed. Second visit, when my foot was worse, he offered another cortisone injection, even after I told him the first one didn't help and actually made me far more painful the following day. I told him I wanted an X-ray to rule out a fracture, and to discuss a brace or some sort of immobilization. He recommended orthotics, but told me he didn't have time to discuss further in that appointment, and I could schedule follow up. Mind you, I could barely walk on my foot at this point! His office called me the following day and told me my insurance did not cover orthotics, what did I want to do? I immediately found another podiatrist and had my records transferred. I would never recommend this office to anyone, and would never return myself. read more

Wow! Great Doctor, knows his field! Fixed my feet!

This place is a definite recommend. Dr. Fjerstad really knows his stuff and has a wonderful team of staffers on hand. The waiting room is nice and airy, with windows looking out into the parking lot and to the road. There is a nice couch that is very comfortable and a good assortment of leisure reading magazines. As for the service, I have been going to him for almost a year now and never once have I had a bad experience with him or his staff. He is always very professional, even shaking your hand and smiling when he first comes in your room. I don't usually endorse businesses this heavily, but this place is an unknown jewel. If you need any kind of foot or ankle work, I recommend him with 5 stars all the way. He and his staff are great people. Definitely a 5-star upstanding business. read more

My wife has suffered hip pain for years only to find out the problem was her gait. One visit to Dr. F and insoles he perscribed and no more pain. Top that off with a friendly staff and the result is a first rate medical practice. read more

John and his staff were marvellous to work with! It has that "small office feel" where you are treated more as a "friend" rather than a "patient". He even did the moulding for my orthotic the old fashion way with plaster of paris. I feel this is more accurate than the electronic version that my last doctor used. 5 stars for Dr. Fjerstad. However his office staff gets a Poor rating, overshadowing my experience there. They need training on how to be cordial, if not pleasant, with the public. Further, they seemed befuddled & unaccommodating in handling my insurance in which his office accepts. read more
