First, let me say I've always received good care here however there is something going on in the office that smells fishy. One time they overcharged me by about $70 and then refused to refund me saying I had to use it as a credit. What the heck? It's their fault and that's my money. The next time they rescheduled me to an earlier time without checking with me. They just sent me an email to my work email but I was on vacation so I never saw it. So they rescheduled me without my consent and then when I was late to the appointment, I got shorted on my massage by about half an hour. Office staff was rude and did not care that they had inconvenience me and charged me money for something I did not receive again. Update. After I called the office on my way to my massage appointment, they offered to reschedule after I told him I did not see their message and was now stuck in road construction. So that was a bonus. Also, I received a call from the office manager the day after I wrote this review. Office mgr told me that they had in fact credited my credit card the $70 they owed me. The thing is no one told me that and I was simply told I had used up all my credit. The office manager wanted to talk to me so I explained to her the problem. I also told her I was super busy and in the middle of loading up the truck for a dump run. It took three tries to get her off the phone after I told her I couldn't talk right now and then she wanted to call me back to talk about it more. I'm not quite sure why. All I want is good communication about appointments and billing. I sort of felt like I was being interrogated about my complaint and it was pretty uncomfortable. read more

Worst chiropractor I've ever seen. Seems to be in it only for the money. Wham, bam -- next! His attempts at aligning my back weren't getting anywhere after a few sessions, so he turned me on my side and did a full body slam on me. Active Care Chiropractic has been a life saver! I relocated to Eureka from Sacramento a year ago. When I was in Sacramento I had a regular chiropractor. Active Care Chiropractic came highly recommended to me. In November of last year I woke up with sever back and leg pain. The pain was so bad that I was crawling on the ground in tears. Nothing would touch it. I went to Urgent Care, who were unable to help. I went to the ER, which was able to give me pain meds, but that only masked the issue. I finally turned to chiropractic and the healing began! Dr. Fogg, DC is awesome! First he listened to me, really listened. Once I explained my symptoms, he made sure that he understood all of my issue then embarked on a treatment plan that not only included chiropractic but also physical therapy. This was the beginning, he also addressed the emotional part of my pain. He helped me realize that it was going to take time and would not be a quick fix. This is important! We so want a quick fix that we forget healing is a process. He treats his patients as adults and speaks to them, not at them! It's now March and thanks to Dr. Fogg and me following his recommendation, I am at 95%! This is huge! Tell me back in November this is where I would be, and I would not have believed you! Dr. Fogg and Dr. King are AWESOME! My work has me constantly on the computer, and about two years ago, I started to experience a chronic pain condition (literally every day) around my neck and shoulders that no one else could properly diagnose. Dr. Fogg correctly diagnosed it as a cervical herniated disc. The combo of his adjustments and the exercises he gave me WORKED! He worked with me even when some of the exercises he gave were a little too rough and dialed back to more gentle exercises. I'm a patient of Dr. Fogg. I've been seen for chronic neck and mid back discomfort for several years and get relief from my adjustments. When I start getting frequent headaches and neck stiffness I make an appointment with Dr. Fogg. A few appointments generally does wonders, if I haven't let it go to long, thinking it will resolve on it's own, in getting me functioning again. I've gone to several chiropractors in the area and wasn't satisfied. He is compassionate and a great listener and asks many useful questions about my lifestyle and habits to best understand what's going on with my spine and joints. My first experience with chiropractic care . I suffer from back pain and neck and shoulder pain. Dr Fog did my manual adjustments and I feel amazing now. No pain whatsoever. Dr. John is the BEST. i had no idea that i wasn't getting the best chiropractic experience until i went to him. he truly cares about WHY my back is hurting - what is contributing to it, and how to align those things. also, his adjustments are far less ... scary? than other types of adjustments that i've had. he does a lot of deep tissue / soft tissue work, too, which is amazing. he's super outgoing, and keeps you occupied in good conversation throughout the whole visit, which is also important. I went to see them for back pain and ended up in the hospital for 21 days... Let me be clear, they did NOT cause the problem that necessitated the emergency surgery, but several ER doctors felt that they missed a "textbook" case of Cauda Equina Syndrome and that the treatment I received there might have exacerbated the problem. At the very least, I spent a couple hundred dollars as a cash patient on care that ended up delaying real care because I thought this was the appropriate treatment based upon the chiropractor's recommendations. If it had not been for the air ambulance ride I got to UCSF the neurosurgeon said I could have permanently lost the ability to walk. My recommendation to others is to go see your physician before you start treatment with them. If your physician gives you the go ahead then this is a great place to go! The people were friendly and their office is beautiful. My only gripe is that they missed a severe medical issue and could have cost me the ability to walk. read more

I first saw a chiropractor about 5 years ago and while my inner scardy-cat was soothed by her gentle methodology, after several sessions I felt like she was barely doing anything and I didn't feel any different, and was left with a bit of a ho-hum attitude towards chiropractic. Thank goodness for second chances because a few years later I saw Dr. John and discovered that getting adjusted can be un-scary AND effective! Who knew? Dr. John takes a thoughtful and thorough approach, first listening to your symptoms and observing your posture to diagnose problem areas, then utilizing a variety of hands-on techniques to put your spine and stuff back where it belongs. Seriously, for one weird example, I have an issue where my right leg keeps wanting to be shorter than my left! WTF! I'd never even known. I suddenly flashed back to freshman year of college when I was really mad at Old Navy for making what I thought were an uneven pair of pants...apparently I owe Old Navy an apology. Sorry Old Navy! I should also mention that I'm extremely ticklish. I am like the Pillsbury Dough Boy in that Geico commercial where the Pillsbury Dough Boy is going through security at the airport and just CANNOT hold it together. That is me exactly. I've actually been to doctors and pedicurists who I think were legitimately annoyed with my squealing and squirming, but Dr. John is always very patient and understanding. For anyone just plain squeamish about having their bones and joints crack snackle popped, Dr. John also happens to be a master of strategic distraction. One second he'll be engaging you in casual conversation and then CRACK suddenly your neck's adjusted and you feel great. He's like a sneaky chiro ninja. However, he is also very eager to enthusiastically explain what he's doing and how the musculoskeletal system works if, like me, you're curious about why the hell your body does some of the weird things it does (and what you can do to stop it). I inevitably feel taller, more upright and more symmetrical after an adjustment with Dr. John and also find myself much more conscious of my posture and physical habits during everyday life. I grew up in a family that was very chiropractor friendly. My Dad had always had a bad back from a car accident when he was young, so I've had many chiro visits throughout my 30+ years. When I moved from Washington State I was a little worried to leave my long term doctor and find someone new. In fact the first 6 months or so I didn't even try, and my back grumbled at me daily for this. Then through work, I happened across Dr. Buechner and figured I needed to get back to managing my troublesome issues - and all I can say is WOW. My previous chiro only did back adjustments which helped a great deal, but Dr. Buechner does a much more thorough job giving adjustments to all sorts of painful issues. I've had nagging knee issues and wrist issues amongst to go along with my constantly aching back and neck. His work has provided tremendous relief and he has worked with me to find ways to improve my regular aches and pains through exercises and other tricks. I am currently a patient here with Dr. Bellinger. He is very caring and takes good care of me. Recently I was told that they now have an in-house massage therapists. I really needed one for upper back, shoulder & neck. I was absolutely amazed with Heather, the masseuse. She was right on the spot each time. I felt the pressure points especially spots that bothered me the most. I've been to massage therapists almost everywhere I traveled; Palm Dessert, Napa, Sonoma, San Francisco, Fairfield including locations in Arcata and Eureka but experience with Heather was the best !! I was so excited I shared my experience with my husband Tom. He knows the good masseuse from an average one. That week he scheduled, and when he arrived home he told me this was the best massage he had in a long time ! DECEPTIVE PRICING! CONSUMER BEWARE! I would like to be able to give this place a better rating. The doctors are friendly. However, deceptive pricing makes me give one star. We always paid out of pocket right after treatments for adjustments done. We were told that prices would be $50 to $70 total depending on additional therapies. We waited after the visit for the receptionist to get the information from the doctor for what to bill after each adjustment, and as stated above always then paid our bill. Shockingly, months later, we received a bill adding an extra $20 to my husband's visits. When I spoke with the receptionist about our billing issue that effectively made most of his visits $90 for a 10-15 minute chiropractic adjustment, she was unable to explain the extra charges and referred me to billing. We would have never gone to this chiropractic office knowing we would end up being charged $90 for most 10-15 minute visit. Make sure you get prices in writing signed if you do go here, so that you do not get price gouged like us. read more

My husband, daughter & I all were receiving care at Grace - the Dr's seem to be wonderful, but the office manager is the absolute worst! She is incompetent, rude, immature, & impossible to work with. There was an issue with our insurance, they accepted our insurance, but were not within "network" for the secondary provider but they did not give us that info even tho we had checked prior to making the initial appointment to ensure we were covered & were told absolutely we were! This would not have been an issue had we been given the correct information upfront as there are two different co-pays involved. BUT we were initially told we were covered under the plan & that absolutely GRACE took our insurance & were in network! We confirmed this prior to even making an appointment with this provider. SO, we were paying the co-pay associated with having "total" coverage. Five months later, we received our FIRST invoice including a nasty note . . . .I thought this was a mistake & immediately called to discuss. Grace was not gracious. She was sarcastic, rude, inappropriate & impossible to speak with. This issue continued to escalate & we even got the insurance company involved, but Grace refused to cooperate with the insurance company representative as well. Long story short, we were able to resolve the issue with our insurance provider & they took care of us 100%! However, grace refused to take any responsibility for the situation & would not own the fact that if she would have billed us in a timely manner we would have had all of the information more quickly & this could have been resolved. We were given incorrect info by our insurance company regarding coverage's, Grace continued that misinformation by assuring us that we were covered within network & accepted our co-pay for months with no question only to bill us five months later with a huge "total owed" and demand for payment! I believe that she knew that she was responsible for this mistake, but is incapable of accepting responsibility so she became combative & defensive instead of remaining professional & helping to resolve the problem. The Dr's in this practice are great, the office manager is unprofessional at best & an absolute horrible person with no redeeming qualities at worst. read more

After having lower back pain for the past two weeks I made an appointment with Grace Chiropractic offices. I had an excellent massage with Piper. Probably one of the top two massages I have ever had. I didn't realize how tight my lower back and shoulders were but during and after the massage I was all to aware. The technique she used was trigger point. Although it was a bit painful at times I felt much better after the massage and later in the day. The next morning I had an appointment with Dr. Fogg. The doctor took a very detailed history and explained his treatment plan in detail. After the adjustment I felt very good and the pain and tightness was significantly better. The receptionist was extremely friendly and assisted me with insurance eligibility questions. I am beyond satisfied with the overall experience with everyone I have dealt with thus far. I look forward to my appointment with Dr. Fogg next week. The office was immaculate. One of the cleanest medical facilities I have ever visited. read more
