We were seen by Dr. Tan and he made very little effort to get to know my dad before taking out clippers (which did not come from any kind of a sterile wrapper) and extremely aggressively chopping off big chunks of my dads toenails. My dad was repeatedly saying "ow" because Dr. Tan was hurting him and he made him bleed in both of his big toes even though he knew he's on blood thinners. No antiseptic, no topical pain meds, no warning that it would hurt. His home health nurse was shocked when she saw them. On top of that, he didn't make any effort to file or shape his toe nails (they're just basically clipped in big sharp chunks - see pictures) and essentially told us there's nothing can do to treat the fungus. So we drove an hour there from my dad's house just to have his nails hacked off and not be offered any real solutions (except a cream he said would probably not help) and leave in more pain than he arrived The whole experience was actually shocking and I felt terrible for my elderly dad - his toes are still hurting since yesterday.

Because of my prior surgery with Dr. Chang, the hospital contacted him for guidance. He personally recommended Dr. Joba to perform the urgent surgery needed to clear the infection. Dr. Joba did an excellent job. He successfully removed the majority of the infection and saved my foot -- I was later told I was only days away from amputation. His skill, clear communication, and calm, professional manner gave me confidence throughout a very stressful situation. What impressed me most was learning afterward that Dr. Joba had voluntarily assisted Dr. Chang in the operating room on dozens of complex cases to further refine his skills, even though he already had his own successful practice. Her suggestion for my sports injury was to keep walking on it for two weeks as that was the soonest she could schedule me. This sounds to me to be very bad advice, I don't think I would recommend to anyone with an injury to keep walking on it without knowing if further damage would occur.
