Dr. Ortman really knows what he's doing. Fast, efficient, and friendly. A very interesting guy, too - I'd love to just have coffee with him.

After my Primary Care MD at Kaiser repeatedly declined to refer me to a Podiatrist for continuing toenail issues; Saying, on review of the photos I had sent, that the situation was toenail fungus and that Podiatry could do nothing to help. I had repeatedly used topical remedies but issues persisted. Finally I decided to seek out a private Podiatrist and wound up in the office of Dr. Ortman. Thoughtful, kind and gentle he confirmed the fugal infection and proceeded to take the first of two last steps in eradicating it. Perhaps Kaiser Podiatrists neither use nor believe in laser treatments. I don't know because I. Never got in to see one. read more

I found Dr Ortman just about a month ago because my neuropathy was getting so bad. We discussed my medical issues, diet, previous tests and he decided to prescribe a pain killer. No k less than a week later I had the most unbearable pain in my right foot. Turned out it was gout! I've never had it before and could not believe it pretty much kept me from walking for the most part. He gave me a cortisone shot with a numbing agent and within a day or so I was able to walk again. I did a lot of research as well as taking advice from Dr Ortman about my diet. Literally a few days later I had another outbreak in the opposite foot! Same service for that one and I'm so had he was able to get me in on such short notice. Well, Jessie was able to go that. She is amazing and you can tell she keeps his office running. Needed Orthotics. It was nice to be greeted by the receptionist Jesse. She was very helpful and caring. I'm sure she hears about people's foot problems but she was engaged and concerned but reassuring that Dr. Ortman can help. When I got to see Dr. Ortman he was straight to the point and very easy to talk to. I went in for casting for new orthotics but he noticed some fungus on a few of my toe nails. He mentioned I can try lazer treatment so I said that is something ive been wantingto try. To my suprise he said we can do a session today! I've been to a few doctors and they usually will have you schedule another appointment but he definitely wants to help anyway possible! Very nice man! read more

Dr. Ortman removed bone spurts in both big toes on same day. Was able to drive home with shoes on. Was able to walk the dogs a few days later and be back on tennis court within 2 weeks. Friends couldn't believe how fast I was back with dogs and tennis. read more

I am very please with the services provided by Dr. Ortman. He corrected a foot problem where I had severe pain while walking and exercising. I did follow up once with Dr. Ortman and he told me in time the nerve tingling would go away, it didnt. I do not have chronic pain, I have nerve damage that is causing numbness and off and on discomfort. I am not about to go back a third time after the first two visits. Dr. Ortman relieved a problem that was making it painful for me to walk. He first did the most conservative procedure, then later did an in-office removal of the offending slice of bone with the tiniest of incisions. It has been such a successful relief. I recently had bunion surgery performed by Dr. Howard Ortman in his San Rafael office two months ago. I would highly recommend getting the procedure done in his office versus being put under and having to deal with the hospital. I was in and out in 2 hours. I am very pleased not only with the results after two months, but the care provided by both Dr. Hortman and Jessica whom is his wonderful and very friendly medical assistant. The post-op follow up visits were wonderful as Dr. Hortman was very thorough and wanted to make sure that I felt comfortable with my post op procedures & rehab exercises to get me walking again, which I am! I had a long history of pain on my small toes on both feet. Dr. Ortman performed minor surgery on both feet at separate times to correct the issue. It has been over a month since the surgery was performed. I now can walk several miles a day without any pain. I cannot believe I did not have this procedure done years ago. I also noticed that now I do not experience any pain and my overall balance and stride has improved significantly. Went here for toenail fungus treatment based on yelp review. He gouged a cut in my toe while filing the nail down that took almost a month to heal, and the treatment didn't do anything. Cost $500. Additional treatments would have been less, but did not want to return. read more
