Been coming to The Parkville for many years. My family has used for repast's and parties. Food is…read moreenjoyable, staff are very nice. Seems to always be busy, I'd suggest a reservation. If you'd like their famous Steak Pie, get in early because when they run out, that's it! No more until the next day. It is excellent. As is their peppercorn sauce for steaks (or whatever you'd like it on)

It has been a while since I had headed down to The Parkville. So all eyes were on us so we promptly left. Mind you I cannae complain about the age thing since I am considerably over the drinking age. Mon my youthful looks! Although it was a bit of a put off, I really did want to try the restaurant since it was upgraded a few years ago. Well, for a wee post birthday lunch, I went with a couple of my closest friends and their kiddies. You can never have enough birthday celebrations. I was really impressed with the layout and decor. I was like, I don't feel like I'm in Blantyre anymore. Fortunately there was no wicked witches. The menu was impressive, remembering the fact we're in Blantyre here. We all went for the 3 course deal for £10.95. I had an odd combo of black pudding, apple with sweet chilli sauce in a stack for starters. Very interesting but hey it worked for me. My main was honey and mustard chicken skewers on a bed of rice and lastly an After Eight Sundae. Nomolicious I say! I couldn't finish my sweet though, this burd was stuffed. I would definitely recommend and would be up for going again. Anyone? I did notice they have a lot of televisions which I thought was a bit pointless as all they have on them is advertising for up and coming events and deals. I thought it was a bit of waste but hey maybe it's part of the modern look. Anyhoo, just remember to bring your ID for the lounge if you're having a wee cheeky schwally.

Don't trust your maps, just sneak up the back way! I went here for a friend's 21st, and was really impressed with the function room. It was held in the Mill Suite, which is a downstairs suite with 2 rooms, a coatroom, and bathroom facilities. The main room consists of a bar, a seating/lounge area, and a dance floor with long tables situated at either side. It's a lovely room, very clean, modern, and welcoming. It'd be a lovely place to hold any milestone birthday, engagement party, wedding reception, etc. The prices of drinks at the bar were pretty reasonable, and space to relax or to mingle and chat. The dancefloor is a good size - definitely plenty of room for all your friends' and families' embarrassing dance moves, and all those dance-along favourites like the (heeeey) Macarena! This is definitely the kind of place I'd think of hiring for any big special occasion.

I went back the day after and was taken aback by a blond headed woman called Jane behind the bar who began to shoot at me. She accused our party had only let them drew in £98 at the bar the night before. She proceeded to say they are not a charity and the miners club committee weren't very happy. Her attitude was extremely aggresive and threatening at me and this has caused me great stress and upset - I was in tears when I told my husband about it and he could not believe his ears. I live locally and can honestly say I have never received such threatment as a paying customer. I will tell all my friends and relatives about it and will advice them to take their custom elsewhere. I had told my sister who was there on the night about it and she was very shocked to hear this. She told me her family spent over £50 at the bar on top of my family's £15, and 10s of others so how they only got £98 at the till goodness knows. I had already complained to one of the club committee member but he was not sympathetic at all. Hw said "what do you want me to do?" Basically I think tbere are plenty of other friendlier and courteous places elsewhere and no one should go through what I went through.

I think it was supposed to shut down about a year ago, but somehow, the place just won't die and it is still very busy on Saturday nights as it always has been. The decor is old: I'm talking peeling wallpaper and holes in the floor, chairs and tables with three legs and the likes. It has a large function hall which is actually humongous, perfect for a wedding or something if they would bother to do it up. It also has two smaller halls which are a good size too, great for birthdays or engagements. I have been to many functions in here, like charity nights, Bowls nights out (I have a friend who is Scottish Champion) and parties and receptions, and have never failed to have a great night out. One of the possibilities why, is the alcohol. They don't serve magic vodka or mystical beers, but rather, the price is outstandingly cheap. I'm talking about £1.50 for a vodka mix, and they don't skimp on the measures in here! Last time I bought a round, at a charity do last month, it cost less than a tenner for 4 drinks....you just can't beat that value anywhere else. I'm not saying this is a top class, sophisticated night out at all. In fact, it is quite the opposite. Cheap and cheerful are the buzz words here. And that will do me just fine.

This is one of those occasions. My boyfriend had a meeting in this bar and I popped in to meet him once he was finished in it. I swear I thought that I'd entered a set for Peter Kay's Pheonix Nights. All I was waiting to see was the owner himself wheeling in like Ironside - it didn't happen sadly. Essentially, this is a social club. The beer is cheap. If you were from around these parts then it's the perfect place for guys to get together for some beers, the football and some pool. There's not too much need for a Cosmo girl like me. Through the back (where my man had his meeting), there is a very well turned out function suite that would be nice for a birthday party event or something of that ilk. As for this becoming a local, I don't think that would ever happen for a girlie like me, so I'll leave this place to the boys.
