The bathrooms are decent and centrally located within the park. They have a fitness station for runners/adults, and it has a paved path so kids on scooters and bikes can loop around. I love that the park is split into under 5s and 5+, so kids can enjoy the different offerings without being frustrated. There is a ton of grassy space for picnics, benches, picnic tables, and even grills. There's really something for everyone here, and I love bringing my kids.

It's a beautiful park with a basketball court, huge big toy and a long slide. The park was calm and brought back memories of my childhood. I just didn't like how the park has a bad rep to it because of the neighborhood it is in. It's a place to stop by after shopping by Safeway or grabbing food nearby Othello/MLK strip. Also, bring a snack and wear the right sliding outfit so you can shoot off the slide quick!

I've once sat at the top, meditating the rapid descent of 20-30 ft - and nothing more. I mean it's only sharp angles at the bends, no curves! I can only hear the: "Weeeeeeeeeeee!---[thump]---OWW!" It's a nice park/playground (parkground/!), though. Just watch out for the inconsiderate poop plops from dog owners who aren't quite mindful and some trash. Besides that, check it out a bit the next time you're in the area winding away from time.

Wading pool is just a few steps infront the Community Center. There was plenty of kids. I guess they were still on summer camp :) Some of the bigger ones were doing kind of a picnic on tables. I found this great! There is also a small picnic shelter for parties when available. In other CCs you can grab a chair if they are available or a person would just guide you about the procedure. Here, a lady would almost yell in a very rude way to ask for it. I answered her how would I know about a different process from where I come from or even whom to ask for it. She then told me it was her I should have asked for a chair. For a chair to sit!! Fortunately, we brought everything we needed and proceed to enjoy the wading pool for some minutes. We shared our toys and stuff just like at other pools because they are all kids :) Police cars were driving around.

He was a pioneer, excellent marksman and cabinet maker. The first school in King County was the Van Asselt School in 1862. Came here for the first time, the grounds are super nice and amazingly clean. I felt that it was a great "homey" environment for kids and a great place to spend the day. I like the park because it's great for all ages. The playground area for kids is covered in beautiful synthetic grass that is safe to play on, soft to fall on, which I love because it's not messy like wood chips or sand. They have slides, swings, and a seesaw. During the summer, you can play in the wading pool. There's a basketball court nearby, BBQ Grills, and also a shelter with picnic tables. There's a large grass area too for anyone wanting to picnic on a blanket. The bathroom is very close by attached to the back of the Van Asselt Community Center. Not everyone in Seattle has the same access to recreational opportunities. Some can afford gym memberships, fitness classes, and personal trainers, but most cannot. That is why Seattle Parks Foundation is partnering with the Trust for Public Land, MOMentum, Leschi Community Council, and Seattle Parks and Recreation to install free outdoor gyms, called Fitness Zones Areas, in public parks around the city. Each Fitness Zone Area includes 8 to 12 pieces of durable, easy-to-use, vandal-resistant equipment that can be used by everyone from teenagers to seniors to tone their arms and legs and get their heart pumping. The grass here is lush and soft, and would be perfect for a picnic! There's also an outlet to the Cedar River here, which is really pretty and nice to go check out if you have the time and interest. The playground itself is perfect for younger ones. They've got quite a bit to play on as well as swings for babies, which is what we're always in search of. There's a restroom on-site, which is nice. Fairly large wooded area with a few little trails. This park is not that great and you shouldn't take the time to travel here, but it's a-okay if you're already in the area. There have been a few times I've felt unsafe in the wooded areas, so definitely pay attention to your surroundings! This park also has tennis courts and a basketball court which are fairly well maintained and there are bathrooms available for use (during the warmer months).
