I used to work in adult beverages and ai learned a few things listening to her explain the many many beers the have on tap. I missed the live music but the place is awesome. Feels nice.

Horrific experience! Here goes:…read more I asked for my deposit back after the event ended, and they responded with "that will not be happening as you brought in alcohol which is illegal" YES, I agree, we did and the staff confiscated it as soon as we entered, no arguments just compliance from the entire party, we all bought several rounds from the bar regardless, I booked the venue for 30+ people, I even confirmed with 'Sawyer' that I am able to bring up to 40 people, They also confirmed that we would be able to come in earlier to set up and decorate, When my friends first arrived for my event to set up, they were shunned to 2 high tops for food and 2 high tops for mingling (6 chairs total) in the back near the bathroom where they set up my balloons and Birthday arc. the area could have fit up to 8 people comfortably. and maybe 12 people uncomfortably. Once the back patio cleared out we moved our party outside because I will be taking up space for an event I booked, Especially when the bar is aware that there are more attendees arriving, The space was still open for the general public to come chill and several of the general guests did, they kicked it with us ate, drank and celebrated with us and left. After which a group of males entered and they weren't an issue until one of them grabbed the pizza I bought without asking. After his third slice I asked him why he felt entitled to take someone else's food without even requesting, which aggravated his entire group. this escalated matters, as my friends are not going to watch me get yelled at. When the bar staff was alerted they tried their absolute worst to de-escalate the situation. They suggested giving me $20 for the pizza they stole, but they failed to see the point. The reason I am putting my review back up again is because my friends have videos of one of the bar staff wearing a beanie at the time standing next to the man who was yelling "IM PROUD TO BE WHITE" with his finger pointing very aggressively at me. In my last review I stated that all of my friends were POC and the opposite party was white, to which Sawyer then asked me to take down the review because it was not a "fair representation of what took place", However I documented what took place and how we were treated and thats what my review stated I do appreciate Sawyer for refunding me, but I will not be silenced with how myself and my friends were treated regardless of the refund I received, Temple allows Racism in my beautiful neighborhood and I will not stand for it. I can also add proof if and when Temple bar would like to respond. Shoutout to SFPD for actually de-escalating the situation. Best, SB

I came for the Take A Dance On Me event on Feb. 20th, 2026. I can't lie, the DJ didn't disappoint…read morewith the ABBA music. I even heard songs such as The Winner Takes It All, Under Attack, When All Is Said and Done, Slipping Through My Fingers, Don't Shut Me Down (new album 2021). However, the last 1.5 was dedicated to EDM and House music which ruined the mood for me. I left earlier than I had expected. The staff was very friendly and it got super-crowded in the room where the event was taking place. If they ever do another one, I plan to return.

0 STARS DUE TO THE RUDEST BARTENDING STAFF IN SF…read more It's always a great time partying at El Rio -- the energy, music, and vibe are unmatched. Unfortunately, my most recent experience at the bar left a sour taste. My friend ordered two mixed drinks and was served in plastic cups with no ice. When I asked a different bartender for just a scoop of ice and explained that my friend hadn't received any, the response from his co-worker -- loud enough for us to hear -- was, "NO TIP, NO ICE." The other bartender simply shrugged and apologized before moving on without offering any ice. As someone who has worked in the service industry and bartended for 5 years, I understand bar etiquette, customer flow, and the tipping culture. Tipping is appreciated, but it's never guaranteed -- and it should never determine whether a customer receives a properly made drink. Serving a room-temperature cocktail without ice out of spite is unprofessional, unnecessary, and frankly spiteful. To be clear: tips are a bonus, not a requirement -- they're not taxes. Respect, quality service, and basic hospitality should be the standard, not something customers have to earn. I hope management takes this seriously. A place as legendary as El Rio deserves bartenders who contribute to the good vibes, not tear them down.

First group to walk through the doors at 11 am on a Saturday. Tired and happy from the beautiful hike we had planned to spend the entire day here. Greeted by a friendly blonde female bartender who had no problem trying my crazy ideas.... I guess 2 parts fireball whiskey and 1 part pineapple juice isn't common? Unfortunately, for me since I was entirely interested in the food option, the cook does a lot of local community work and wasn't going to be in until Monday. Anyways, place has a bunch of games from casual board games to dominos even all the way to the game I could not convince my group to play. TWISTER! Continuing to asks the lady questions I learned they do karoake nights frequently, have live music and dance nights occasionally and those dance nights are sometimes themed. The place has an amazing outside patio that transcends into a small concert area with a stage and lights. Overall it is a cool lil spot. I can't give a fully thought out score because too much was missing from what I think I can experience. I want to go back but distance will make it difficult.

Food, Service, Adult Beverages = 5 Ambience = 5 if love…read morelocal watering hole/dive feel; 3 if not your scene While Alice's Station on Skyline is the perfect spot, whether cruising in a car or motorcycle, for us to eat/drink on any diet, stretch our legs and people watch with the diversity of patrons, it can get super crowded. A 12 min drive towards La Honda from Alice is Apple Jack's where its manager, Ruger, enlisted his Chef friend, Charlie, to offer a small, but yummy menu for primarily meat lovers. He cooks on the back grill and rest prepped in cozy kitchen. You pay either cash or Venmo directly to Chef. I ordered the hamburger with cheese, blue cheese salad, and "adult" mac & cheese cause it's spicy not spiked with alcohol as I thought. $30 for everything. The portions are ample to split between hubby and me then wash down with a cold cider from the tap. I ate with my eyes. The salad ingredients were fresh and generous with the dressing heavy handed. The chef prepared burger the perfect med-rare so not bloody. The burger and mac& cheese were not greasy. So my aging stomach gratefully didn't require anti-acid remedy. There is local homemade turkey stew for non beef eaters, which I would like to try when weather is colder. I'm also intrigued by the steak bits over mash. There is outdoor seating. It's good for a large group or want to listen to tranquility of forest & creek (with the occasional zoom of a car driving by) instead of chatter of locals catching up on the day, cracking of pool balls, or inquisitive visitors want to learn more about life in La Honda. One of the two dog ambassadors, Lucy (I think), will come by to let you pet her or feed her a treat from the jar on the counter while she sniffs around for food that "accidentally" fall from your plate to eat. The women's restroom was clean and bright better than most dive bars. Apple Jack's watering hole ambience is not for everyone.
