I was a bit nervous, but my fears were quickly put aside after a few minutes with Dr. Ahani. He was very kind and personable, and put me at ease. He thoroughly explained what he was going to do and how to alert him if I was feeling any discomfort. His assistent Noreen was really nice too, and they seriously worked together like a well oiled machine! I was done in less than 90 minutes. Dr Ahani even called me that evening to make sure I was doing well. I hope I don't have need in the future for his services, but if I do, I will be able to go without any anxiety-that is really a blessing! So, if you need an endodontist, I highly recommend Dr Ahani and Bayside Endodonitics! Tooth #18 was bothering me for years, and I kept putting it off due to a horrifying and terrible experience with my childhood dentist. I was content with never chewing on that side of my mouth for the rest of my life if it meant never having to go to the dentist again. My regular dentist (who I trust a lot at this point in my life) referred to me Dr. Ahani's office for this root canal. OMG. I had an infected "hot tooth" that took her almost an hour to anesthetize. Okay, you're…read morethinking that a good dentist could have done this in minutes? Look up what a hot tooth is and you'll soon realize that they are rather uncommon and very hard to put to sleep. When even a periodontal ligament (PDL) supplemental injection didn't work, she finally had to resort to injecting anesthetic directly into the roots through the hole she had already drilled. So why the 5 stars? Dr. Fong never, ever put herself first. She constantly asked about my level of pain and backed off to reassess when I was uncomfortable. She took all the time necessary to ensure that my tooth was completely anesthetized before proceeding - even when she had to do that multiple times. I went to another dentist for a second opinion - I actually needed ONE. Almost every visit, they also kept pushing me to have my wisdom teeth removed, even though I was never given a convincing reason why it was necessary. They were adding a $119 charge for desensitizer for each teeth, even though my insurance told me I was not supposed to be charged for it. When I questioned the charge, the woman at the front desk became aggressive. The whole place feels like a conveyor belt now - packed with people, everyone rushing, and barely any time to explain anything or answer questions. The only genuinely positive part of this dentistry was Dr. Vu, who was always great, although I'm not sure if he's still there. Also, they don't have an online system where you can track your treatment, billing, etc. and if you want to get your records/ x-rays they not very helpful getting them . After five years, I'm done.
