The thriftiness of overall process was like no other. This is my third home purchase in my life and Academy stands apart from my previous experiences. First, my loan officer made sure to give me a heads up of all the documents needed to make sure the approval process was more timely and painless. Additionally, the inter-workings of the office staff made sure to be in prompt contact when documents were required. Furthermore, their assistance to suggest correction of outdated documents from my wife and I gave me the piece of mind that nothing would be held and closing would stay on schedule. Nice job Academy! Oh, and your smart phone app is very useful too!

He also provided me with different options for loan amounts and helped me make the best choice of my loan amount based on my finances. He was always quick to get back to me regarding any questions or queries I had throughout the process. Being a potential first time home owner, I was not very knowledgeable about the process of home buying, but Stephen was very patient with me throughout the process and explained things to me to the point that I was very satisfied with all his answers, which in turn made me feel very confident about the whole loan application from the beginning to the end. Stephen also followed up with me on closing day to make sure everything went smoothly. I would highly recommend Stephen to anyone who is looking for an agent who is patient, thorough and will walk you through each step of the loan application till approval and more! :)

Luckily, Gallatin bought the house I was renting so my original lease was created by the previous landlord. Gallatin still tried to bully my bf & I into signing his 20-page lease. Fist said we legally had to, then said he could evict us if we didn't, then physically threatened my bf. Luckily UM Student legal services helped us and said he had no grounds to do either of those things. He still tried to take my security deposit away and so I took him to court. He made outrageous claims, luckily we had proof that we left the apartment clean and no worse than when we originally moved in. The judge also knew he was full of shit. Don't bother with this guy or his shitty realty company. The funny thing is he buys houses under different LLC's then files for bankruptcy. He's a nut and a thief.

DO NOT SIGN A LEASE WITH JEFF GALLATIN. He is a foul, wretched man…read more Aside from the obvious problems with his buildings (filthy common areas and terribly maintained apartments), you will lose money, a LOT of money when you move out. He will charge you for key replacements even though you returned them to his superintendent. He will charge you a cleaning fee even though you left the apartment 100x cleaner than when you moved in. He will charge you for "additional utility charges" that come with no explanation. When you argue this, he'll laugh at you and say he enjoys court. He knows he will win, not because he is right, but because the cost of an attorney offsets the amount he is swindling from you. He is racist (and sexist) (he told me that he doesn't like to rent to non-whites). Someday he'll meet his punishment for the years of abuse to tenants, but until he does, don't become one of the suckers who signs a lease out of desperation. Ann Arbor rental options are bad, but they aren't THAT bad.

So unprofessional and disorganized. So here is the backstory. My sons dad (ex) and I refinanced our…read morecondo through bay equity home loans. We were never married so we did two separate applications and I was listed as the co borrower. The notary came to our house and we signed everything. Fairly easy closing process. Fast forward to now, and I'm trying to make my first mortgage payment through them. I am registering as a new user and it asks two simple questions-my social & loan number. I input the information and it does not allow me access. I call into the customer service reps and they said on their recorded line that I am NOT on the loan and they can't give me any information pertaining to the loan . I am explaining to the rep that I have all the signed documents in front of me so I have no idea how I am not listed anywhere on their end. I had a valid reason to be confused because every mortgage statement, online access, etc. is only listed under my ex's name. The customer service rep said that I needed to reach out to my lender directly, and that only my lender could put me on the loan. I reach out to my realtor who always gets ahold of the lender for me because it takes him forever to reply. Adam was so unprofessional and disrespectful towards me. I was only doing what THEIR service reps instructed me to do and he was of no help. He sarcastically said that I am "unfortunately going to have to reach out to my ex for 5 min to get him call in" so my ex calls in and they also tell him that I am not listed on the loan. Through all of the confusion (which was not my fault) considering I'm just trying to pay my mortgage, I should have been treated with compassion and professionalism , but instead I was told he "needed to check in to see if all the info I was putting into their software was correct" as if I'm incompetent and incapable of solving the issue on my own. Would never recommend, well unless you like being treated like you're nothing! I understand that it's not typical to refinance with an ex , but I needed his income to qualify, Adam did help me realize that. Clearly, I'm lower income. I believe in being 100% honest and transparent with reviews, and admit where I might have been hard to deal with , but this was terrible. His loan processor Danielle couldn't find paperwork we had submitted. What a mess. Never again.
