Johanna's Restaurant Jan 2018
A group of ladies decided to dine at Johanna's before a show in town. Let us just say it did not go as expected. Reservations had been made in advance and upon arrival before even saying a word we were told they were full! We advised of reservations and then all was okay. Quite the welcome. We were escorted inside which is what we preferred due to the colder temps of late. We were seated and immediately asked what we wanted. We asked for menus, wine list etc.
We ordered our drinks, quite simple. One person ordered an iced tea and 45 minutes later had not received it despite two requests for it. Totally unacceptable. They brought a lovely dish of different butters and dips/sauces, but alas bread never arrived or anything to use it with.
The menu is good, lots of choices and prices range from 98 to 178 pesos including starters like escargot, salads, soups fish, and entrees. The wine list is certainly something to be desired with not a wide range of quality wines.
I had the Weinerschnitzel ( pork) with capers, green salad, red cabbage and roasted potatoes for 115 pesos. The weinerschnitzel was tender and tasty. Salad blah, cabbage okay and potatoes well roasted potatoes. The portion was good and the price was right.
Another person ordered lamb and it was way over cooked. No time due to pending show to send back.
To try to get anything additional like a refill on a drink or the original iced tea, was a true hassle. So thus despite a decent meal the service ruined it all. We spoke with owner/manager and he said the staff was very busy on weekends and had been working 6 hours, so were tired. Are you serious? 6 hours!! He apologized and brought our desired bread but by then was too late it was after the meal. He seemed to take little responsibility for the service other than a very lame excuse and an apology. Very sad as I most likely will not return. I want a good meal at a reasonable price with at least good service , ours was terrible. Even taking a doggie bag seemed to be a burden. Can we wrap in foil, no sorry I need a box as am going to a show, so that was an issue.
If you know as an owner and manager your staff are not producing or not trained or tired and overworked then hire more staff. Sorry totally unacceptable excuse. 4 customers lost that night, along with whomever they may tell and so on. Just too many restaurants in the area to patronize those who do not appreciate their customers. A real pity as food was good. read more
