Baa Baa, Bad Sheep
TL;DR: Not worth the time, money, or calories. Go pretty much anywhere else, especially if you're only visiting the city. There's so much good food out there. Unfortunately, we didn't get any this time.
Long version: Waited for table because the place looked promising -- lots of people and two groups in front of us. Hostess looked like she hates her job; she was just sitting there on her phone when she wasn't unenthusiasticlly interacting with customers.
Once seated, we had to wait an excessive amount of time for our waiter to appear. When he finally showed, we placed our orders: two sangrias, one Heineken, and two pizzas (one grande with one substitution and one chica) -- nothing complicated.
Waiter leaves. Comes back a while later to say they don't have the limes for our two sangrias. So while he asks one of us what we want instead, he never asks me. Rude.
He leaves and comes back again with our new drinks. Then we wait. And wait. And wait. The waiter only stops by for a millisecond to drop salsas, but doesn't ask if we need or want anything else. No chance to get a drink or appetizers to hold us over.
At least an hour from when we ordered, one of the pizzas comes out. It's wrong. They didn't do the substitution. The waiter takes it away.
And we wait some more. At least a good 20 minutes. Finally, both pizzas arrive. And they are -awful-.
The Starry Red pizza wasn't very flavorful despite the toppings. The basil was burned. The crust was tough and an effort to chew and the edges were burnt. The only thing that redeemed it were the salsas (red pepper flakes in oil and a mix of cilantro, mango, and tomato in oil). They were the best part of the evening, which is sad to say.
The 2x2 Pepperoni pizza was just as depressing. The pepperoni was flavorless and poorly textured. The crust was also burnt and tough.
We didn't finish either (despite being famished) and we didn't take the leftovers.
The entire experience was so poor, we all wished we could rewind time and go somewhere else.
Overall, The Black Sheep lives up to its name -- an outcast (from the "good food" community). If you come here to drink or are already drunk, maybe the food would be good enough. At least the prices were reasonable. read more
