Random British bar in the middle of Guadalajara? What would be the perfect thing to pair with everything British in a small bar? I know, the most traditional of Mexican spectacles lucha libre!
As random as this pairing seems, the double decker bus tour to the lucha libre stadium was a lot of fun. If you want to sit on the top (and have to duck when driving past trees) make sure you show up around 6:30pm to buy your ticket. The tickets are numbered and you board according to the number on your ticket. I would also suggest sitting in the middle or the back, that way, you'll notice when those in front of you duck. If you sit in the front, then it's your job to be the canary in the coal mine. If you're not paying attention, you could very easily get smacked in the face by a branch.
When you get there, you should be able to sit pretty close to the ring in the "rich" section (the area in front of the fence). There will be tons of shouting--for the wrestlers, against the wrestlers, at the "poor" section (the area behind the fence), at the "rich" section, and to catch the attention of the roving band of vendors. For the vendors, make sure you have some small bills or coins. Imagine you're selling 20-peso bags of popcorn and everyone tries to pay with $200 and $500 peso notes. You'd run out of change pretty darn fast. They're all ready balancing heavy trays and maneuvering through crowds. Make their jobs a bit easier and help them out with some change.
The one part that wasn't that smooth of a process is that the bus parks a couple of blocks down from the stadium door. It took us awhile to figure out where it was and that we had to walk over to it. So after the show, leave the stadium, turn left out of the front door and make your way over to the bus. You might be tempted to try sitting on the bottom of the bus if you arrived riding on the top. It is a sauna in the bottom of the bus. Unless it's a cool day, don't torture yourself by sitting in an air-tight tin can for however long it takes for everyone to make their way back to the bus.
