The nicest staff I've interacted with at a restaurant in a long time. It's old timey in there and the staffs manners remind me of an era long gone by when customer service workers took pride in providing good service. Thank you!!! read more

Let's start with the service. I arrived with another person and when we walked in the young lady behind the counter greater us and said we could sit anywhere. We sat down and she came over asked if we wanted drinks and handed us the menu. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with lite mustard and ketchup and raw onions. I ordered a side of fries and a Coke. The other person in my party wanted a cheeseburger and asked what kind of onions they served. The young lady said "you can have the raw or cooked". Again he asked what kind of onions do you have, again he was told "so like you can get them like raw or cooked" He said no onions and then asked for a cheeseburger with fries. The waitress repeated the order but said we both wanted bacon cheeseburgers, so we corrected her. We let her know only one of us wanted a bacon cheeseburger. The problem here is when she was asked what kind of onions do you have it meant, red, yellow, or white. It did NOT mean raw or cooked. This was frustrating because ad a sever you should be able to understand the food you serve and answer questions customers have about the food. We next need to talk about the terms that came in. There was a group of teens that walked in and immediately it became uncomfortable. They were kinda hanging out, distracting the young female waitresses from their jobs and causing an uncomfortable atmosphere. They didn't seem like they had a purpose for being there and they certainly didn't plan on ordering anything. They just kind hung around, then repeatedly walked in and out being loud and boisterous acting like it was their personal hang out. They were all males which caused a problem for the female staff in general as the focus was the group of boys and not their jobs. A man came from the back who appeared to be either the manager or owner and called the group of boys out which caused them to finally leave and not return. The food was very good. The food gets 5 stars easily. The burger was cooked well and the fries were delicious. The man that ran the group of boys out gave us a piece of cake for no apparent reason which neither of us wanted. He seemed offended by this, however although it was appreciated for medical reasons it was not something we could eat. The gesture was nice, however, it almost became an issue when we said we couldn't eat it. I paid the bill and we left without incident. Food 5 stars Service 1 star Atmosphere 0 The food was outstanding, however based on the waitress's lack of understanding about what customers were asking (what kind of onions you have is not a difficult question) and her inability to stay focused on us rather than the boys outside and the boys once they came inside, along with the boys seemingly being very comfortable to just come in and take over with no reprimand or respect towards the staff or the diners, I cannot recommend this establishment. The food is great but those kids that came in was entirely uncalled for and very inappropriate read more

Went on a Saturday afternoon, timed between the lunch and dinner rushes. Retro diner style, small footprint but efficient use of space. 1950's theme carries through with music to fit the era. Menu is simple, everything served à la carte. I ordered the cheeseburger. My husband got the patty melt with french fries. Burgers are not smashed, but thick. Fries were thin and crispy. We ordered cheese curds as an appetizer. Beer battered with garlic, served with a side of ranch. Some of the best cheese curds I've had. Service was friendly and fast. Worth a visit if you're in the Waukesha area. read more

We stopped in for our first Joey's burger. It was a beautiful day so we sat outside and ordered burgers and fries. As we waited for our food we were given two cookies to tide us over, which was cute. The fries are SO GOOD! I like thin and crispy and these were fantastic! While we enjoyed the burgers, they were good but nothing spectacular. The bill was appropriate for our meals and the servers were good and efficient. Attached to Joey's is Slice of Waukesha, a pizza and hot dog offering. Both are owned by the same man and you can order from either at each location. Next time we will try the pizza or a hot dog. Lots to choose from, so it is worth stopping in. read more

Amazing lunch, as usual! Service was perfect as it always is. Joey and his team ensure everyone that comes in feels like a member of the family. We drive about an hour and a half to come here for lunch and it's always worth it. Food was great, cheese curds are BEYOND, and no one beats the kindness you'll find here. read more

Joey's Diner - Hamburger and fries - Diners Near Me - Waukesha, Wisconsin

A 50's themed classic diner in the heart of downtown Waukesha. It was fairly busy for a Tuesday night but the waitstaff was on top of their game serving tables. I showed up late and they even brought my friend some complimentary cookies while he waited. Food was subpar, but the value centered prices covered the discrepancy (2 burgers + 2 fries + 2 drinks -+ cheese curds for ~$30). For this restaurant creative, nostolgic ambiance is the main attraction! read more

Joey's Diner is a fun place for lunch or a casual dinner in Historic Downtown Waukesha. It feels like a burger joint from the 50's. The staff and owner are very welcoming and really appreciate the business. The burgers and fries are very good and they give you a couple of cookies on the house and a tasty freeze after your meal! Very cool experience. Just wish they were open later than 7:00pm. read more

We loved the atmosphere & background music. It was like stepping back in time, with a 1950's vibe. Most important, the pizza was excellent, with a crispy thin crust & delicious toppings. Joey saw that we were about to take a group selfie right before we left. He approached us and suggested we stand in front of the huge logo so he could take our photo. Huge improvement over what we would have gotten! He's super friendly and outgoing. Highly recommend! read more

Joey's Diner - Thanks for the great experience, Joey! - Diners Near Me - Waukesha, Wisconsin

This was the new restaurant check in so I stopped by to check them out. First off parking on the Main Street proved to be difficult on a Saturday at noon but if you go down the the alley or around the corner the back block has plenty of parking and just walk through the short alley. I like what's old is new again because I would have loved to live through the 50s 60s and 70s and I always said that I was born too late. The decor is absolutely amazing and maybe not totally 50s correct but it's done very well with the big boy like figurines on top of the awning. I like the menu but I don't like how the menu burgers are arranged so I would combine 2 menu burgers with + and - ingredients to create a cheeseburger more my style. I would take the best of 2 menu burgers and and create the Steve cheeseburger. I took the bacon double cheeseburger and Frankensteined it with the California cheeseburger for a double cheeseburger with bacon, cheese, mayo, lettuce, tomato and raw onions. My server was completely confused because he asked several questions about my order and writing 2 checks until he fully understood my request after all the confusion I thought my cheeseburger would end up lost in translation but to my surprise the high school jock young man nailed it, great job adapting at a special order request because he went from deer in the headlights to being a boss. Ok enough of of the great experience of my double cheeseburger and onion rings looked great with perfect melted American cheese, sesame bun and a ranch dipping sauce for the onion rings. The Steve cheeseburger was amazing with juicy beef patties which might be fresh beef because of the juicyness and tender texture. The fresh bun and toppings were a plus. The onion rings were very crispy with tender onions inside and the unexpected ranch dipping sauce was a nice touch. Overall this new restaurant comes with some experience because the execution and training with a difficult customer was spot on, they hit it out of the park on my visit, nice job. read more

First off, great servers, very friendly and upbeat. But the food was so disappointing. We started with the cheese curd app, when it arrived we thought it was a joke. It was so small. Seriously only 9 tiny dry not even fresh fried curds. They didn't even taste good and cost $7. We each got a burger and split an order of app sized fries. The fries basket was again super small. The fries were bland and bordering on stale. The burgers were very much like a McDonald's patty- tasted like fillers. Super small, lacked any grilling or char, bland. It did not seem like a fresh all beef patty at all. Very pricey for extremely sub par food. read more

If you're in the area and looking for a quaint little Berger spot, you can't go wrong here. They have a few specialty burgers and the staff is great. It's a nice throwback diner to the 50s. Definitely worth stopping in. They have pizza as well. Did not have a chance to try it, but the burgers were great. read more

If you are looking for a unique 50's dining experience, then this is the place. First time here and we were impressed. Got here at 11:30, and the place was already starting to fill up. There is seating inside as well as tables out front. The owner Joey was there and he is friendly, gregarious, and funny. Never missed a opportunity to say "Welcome to Joey's, take any place to sit", or "god bless you" on the way out. As soon as we arrived, our server checked in with us for waters/drinks. Super friendly, and helpful. We ordered the onion rings and a couple of burgers. My friend got the double bacon cheeseburger. I got the Elvis Burger (Peanut Butter, Banana and Bacon). Not because I am an Elvis fan, but it sounded interesting. The food came out quick. It was hot, flavorful, and good size portions. The Onion Rings hot, perfectly breaded and had the right amount of salt. The breading creates a course texture, that adds to the flavor. The burgers were hot and juicy. My friend loved the double bacon cheeseburger. My Elvis Burger was.... interesting. My first bite was a big one, and since there is plenty of peanut butter, my mouth almost felt like it was glued shut. After some water, I was able to get it down. After that point I learned to take small bites. It was good, but not my favorite flavor combination. The fries were also very good too. Even though you have a table server, you need to pay at the counter. And Joey was the only one that was able to do this. We needed to wait for Joey to be available for this. Not sure why the other staff are not allowed to take care of the payment? Overall a very good experience. The prices are reasonable and provide a good value. Definitely a place that I would come back to. read more

Great food for really reasonable prices! The burger was the perfect size- not too big- and tasted so fresh! We had fries and onion rings with our burgers and both were hot and fresh right out of the fryer. Delicious! The place is small, but the atmosphere was cute - retro burger joint feel with lots of vintage decor and music playing. Service was unbeatable. Each server checked in with all tables when they delivered food or drinks to their own, asking if everything tasted alright and if there was anything else we needed. And we ended our meal with a surprise milkshake they brought out to each table. Really great experience all around. read more

Such a charming little diner on Main Street in downtown Waukesha. The place is small - maybe 10 tables in all. But the 50s theme - from Elvis mannequin in the window to the period jukebox to the TV tuned to Leave It to Beaver - is adorable. And the food is excellent. Our meal began with a fun "amuse bouche" - three fudge stripe cookies. The cheese curds were some of the best I've ever had - battered rather than breaded and served with ranch. The bacon cheeseburger was amazing - served on a toasted bun with bacon that was perfectly crisp. And the fries! They were everything McDonald's used to be. The service was as great as the food. The servers were attentive and kind. And we had a lovely chat with the owner, Joey. The only bummer is that Joey's Diner is a bit of a hike from Madison. But we'll definitely make the trip again. read more

Joey's Diner is dinner food done right! This was our first time here, and from the moment we walked in, we felt like we'd stepped back into the 50s-- Elvis in the front window, nostalgic atmosphere, Leave it to Beaver was playing on the TV, and a fun, welcoming vibe. The Joey and his staff were incredibly friendly and genuinely happy to be there, which makes all the difference in the world. My husband and I shared a meal, and was just right for both of us. The patty melt was very juicy and cheesy, served on marbled rye and grilled to perfection. The onion rings tasted just like the ones we remember from our childhood--crispy, golden, fat, and even better with Joey's secret sauce. Hubby ordered a chocolate malt. It was thick, creamy, and topped with whipped cream and a cherry--just like it should be. The Joey, the owner, is so welcoming and full of positive energy, which just adds to the charm of his place. For our first visit, Joey's definitely made a great impression. We'll be back for sure! read more

Very good food. Had a mushroom swiss. Husband had a patty melt. Best patty melt he ever had.

Awesome experience. Joey is the man! Very hospitable, great food, and better service. Will certainly be coming back. FYI I am like 5'1".

AMAZING! Joey is the greatest in customer service! Pizza was great, loved the brushed crust and Elvis burger is a must try!

I was excited to try Joey's Diner since I heard people raving about it. The decorations at the diner were great! The decor ties the diner theme together, with vintage signs, posters, etc. There's even a dinosaur and Betty Boop statue! I thought the phone stands on all of the tables were a nice touch, the party next to us was enjoying their meal while watching a game together. The diner was very clean including the bathrooms. The service was great. Every staff member we interacted with was welcoming and kind. They were also very tentative and were there if we wanted help with our order! The food was great. I got the BLT with fries. The service was fast, we ordered and received our meals promptly! I can't wait to go back and try other items on their menu! It's the perfect place to grab a bite with your family or friends! read more

Chicken burgers were very good, employees were pleasant and friendly. This is a diner, but it is so cute. With the red and white motif and a jukebox that looks like the old-fashioned ones with 50-60 music playing; the owner, Joey was friendly and talked with people. Brought cookie for each is us before sandwich was ready. It is not Vegas but it brings back memories of yesteryear! read more

I'm very impressed with this small establishment. It has 3 tables for 4 and 3 tables for 2 plus counter seating for about 5-6 people Menu size is about right and very reasonable price wise in my opinion Food tasted great in my opinion 3 cookies did show up as I waited for my food Now here's the catch. Parking can be and will be a hassle during peak times Also you may have a waiting period close to lunch and dinner time Nice touch is having Leave It To Beaver on the TV screen read more

I ordered a Patty Melt and water and my wife ordered a mushroom Swiss combo and a soda. I was given a patty melt and fry's unfortunately I can't eat fry's due to medical issues, we were told they wouldn't show up on our order. But when we paid it was a debacle first we were charged for cheese curds which we never had at all, then when he fixed it I was still charged for the fry's I couldn't even eat and I never ordered. We won't be returning they can't get their act together for a simple order and despite being told they wouldn't charge me for things I didn't order I still ended up being overcharged. No I wasn't going to keep arguing about it I just won't go back! read more

My husband and I stopped at Joey's Diner, and it truly felt like stepping back into the 1950s -- not just because of the jukebox and the happy older customer singing along behind us, but because of the heart and hospitality that filled the place. It was packed when we arrived, so we sat at the bar -- which ended up being the best seat in the house. The owner greeted us right away and talked with everyone like they were family. When we bowed our heads to pray before eating, we looked up and saw that he had joined us. That moment said everything about who he is. The food was amazing. The burger was real and full of flavor -- the kind you can tell was made with care -- and the cheese curds were easily the best I've ever had. The portions were perfect, the prices were so reasonable you'd almost feel bad not tipping big, and the whole meal tasted like quality still matters here. But what really stood out was the owner himself. He told us he wants to be a good steward of what God has given him, and you could see that in the way he treated everyone -- his staff, his customers, even strangers like us. The whole team was joyful and kind, whether he was looking or not. We left full, grateful, and touched by the experience. Joey's Diner isn't just about food -- it's about people, kindness, and genuine love in action. It was the perfect way to end our trip, and we'd go back in a heartbeat just to be around that kind of goodness again. read more

The Cali Burger delivered far beyond expectations. Even in a to-go box, it held its structure, flavor, and freshness. It was easily the best burger I've had in a long time. And the cheese curds? Also excellent. Clean fry, great texture, no grease bomb effect. A seriously delicious experience end to end. And I have to add this: when Joey (was it THE Joey? Can't be sure) answered the phone and hit me with a firm "seven to ten minutes, better leave now," it had the energy of someone who's seen too many people underestimate his timing. It wasn't a suggestion -- it was a warning. He was right on time. read more

I had been to Joey's maybe 3 times before tonight and always really enjoyed their food but usually eat at home. Tonight after work I decided to stop by because I got off early and found it was busier than the few times beforehand and it was nice to see a local business doing well. I had been craving a BLT and got theirs with a side of fries and it was just DELICIOUS. Thought that was all I was gonna get until I saw the chocolate cake in the fridge and decided to grab a slice to go. Went up to the register and they told me the chocolate cake was on the house. So so sweet. My meal was about $8.50 and I gave a $2 tip and now i'm wishing I gave more. I didn't realize they had more than just burgers so I will be going back soon! Staff was so friendly and the environment is so cute. Love this place! read more
