Driving through early one morning we were just looking for a cup of coffee. Saw the sign for Joeys Bakery and thought it would be good to stretch and grab something for the long drive ahead. Upon entering, the donut/cookie case greeted us. My kids squealed and asked for a donut. We decided to eat in, kids got donuts and we ordered full breakfasts. OMG-I can't say enough about the fresh bread served with breakfast, delicious biscuits and gravy, eggs were done perfect to our asking, bacon cooked nicely and hash browns perfect. SO GOOD! And then the donuts. Are you kidding me? We took them to go with a cup of coffee and what a delicious treat to have in the car. I seriously saved this place to my favourites because, although we are on a road trip-I'd definitely come out of my way for the food and baked items. The staff was so nice, as well. My kids were energetic for the early morning and very excited about the donuts and they engaged them with discussion about the donuts etc, having a co variation with them vs discounting them. Even giggled at my twins excitement over the treats. Felt like a l welcoming place, in a small town with kind people and great food. I even noticed how patiently the waitstaff explained a dish to another patron (who had a lot of questions and was comparing different meals with the waitress), it was handled with kindness, patience and truly a conversation that answered the patrons questions with integrity. What a gem! On a road trip from Canada to VA this place is in a great location and the food was really good. The service was friendly and the place was clean. It was snowing so we couldn't enjoy the cute town but it was still a nice place to stretch our legs. Would definitely recommend if you're passing thru or visiting. This place is amazing. The yeast based donuts are better than those at Dough in New York City. They are lighter and fall apart in your mouth they are so fresh. I had a powder jelly donut and then we ordered four for the road. I also ate eggs, bacon and toast (because I am a glutton.) also great - they make their bread in house. The food was alright, it came out at a decent time but the waitress we had waited a bit to put the food order in the system. The service from the waitress was the worst I've ever experienced. She got are drinks and gave us are food. That was it she did not check on us or even ask if we needed anything. We waited 30+ minutes for our bill and boxes. read more

Joey's Bakery opens at 6:30 in the morning and is a very good spot for tasty, fresh made pastries. You can get good coffee, too. In addition to the pastry counter Joey's offers a sizable dining area made up of tables and booths. We liked our doughnuts so much that we sat down and ordered breakfast. Talk about "mighty good" omelettes!!! If we lived nearby you'd find us at Joey's BECAUSE we'd be regulars! read more

We always stop for lunch on way to casino. We always a get hot roast beef sandwich with mash potatoes. The beef is super tender and tasty and piled an inch high on thick bread. No fat or gristle either. Mash potatoes are twice as much at other places too. Covered in dark rich brown gravy. Absolutely delicious. The apple fritters from bakery are 5 stars too. This place is your classic small-town American diner! My friends and I were drawn to this spot with the smell of their pulled pork sandwiches which were literally being smoked out in a large pit out on the front sidewalk (on what appeared to be Main Street of Ridgway!). We decided to check it out. The first thing you see are glass cases of homemade pastries, muffins, fried sugary flatdough, etc. & old school coffee makers, iced tea dispensers, and a classic 1980's cash register. We took a seat and browsed the expansive menu. I settled on a grilled chicken sandwich, which came complete with pre-buttered bread and french fries on top! My friends enjoyed the pulled pork sandwiches and sides of macaroni salad with peas. The service was really great - even considering how busy they were with the adjacent Ridgway Chainsaw Carvers Rendezvous (this must have been Joey's busiest weekend of the year!). Everyone was very friendly in this restaurant and in this town - Philadelphia could learn a few things from the folks out here. read more

We spent a weekend in ridgeway and ate here twice for breakfast and we rarely eat anywhere twice in a week! The blueberry pancakes were to die for! Much bigger servingd than we expected, especially for the price of the food which is very reasonable. The stuffed french toast was perfectly cooked and the sausage gravy could have been straight from the south making this Texas girl very happy. Best omelette we've also tried in a long time! We also pickup a baked good which we did not eat until hours later. The bun kept well and was still soft and gooey by the time we ate it. Service was excellent, you seat yourselves, but we did not have to wait for a table either time and were attended too swiftly from the friendly waitstaff. read more

Joey's donuts are great. Seriously great enough to want them two days in a row and make sure there were enough to take home to Pittsburgh. The fresh donuts were soft and just sweet enough. The variety was abundant. best for a cheapskate like me, the day old selection was almost as good but at a price I haven't seen in years. The staff was masked and very efficient. The table of locals did appear to be startled by an outsider but they were a little close together and unmasked so I had no desire to join them. I had to search for elk after all,as it is Elk County PA. I might be more interested in returning for the donuts. I never saw an elk. read more

Great spot! The breakfast was great. the meat and eggs were cooked correctly. i know that sounds simple but it seems to be hard for a breakfast spot to get right. There were many people coming in for their donuts. I did not have room for any but they looked fabulous. Great menu and the food is excellent. Large portion on everything. You will not leave hungry.

Rode the bike trail from Portland Mills to Ridgeway and our reward was lunch at Joey's. Friendly fast service and great food. Try their homemade chips-they have a wonderful seasoning. Generous portions-had second half of my Rueben the next day. Great shakes! Bakery case hard to pass up-took several cookies and pastries home in my bike basket. read more

3.5 stars. Very friendly diner/ bakery. Nice stop in a cute small town. Standard diner type fare but with a few fun twists: chips are homemade! And not rock hard like kettle chips. I had the grilled buffalo chicken salad... surprise! Comes with battered fries on top. I did not expect that but it was fun. Kids split an Italian sub. One liked it, one didn't. Boyfriend had a steak sandwich and a huge, fluffy yeasty glazed donut for dessert. That was a great donut. We also got a giant chocolate brownie to share with the girls. If you are stopping in Ridgway, Pa and it's breakfast time, you must stop in at Joey's. It's obvious that this is the town spot for breakfast. It's more than worth it. Our new PA Wilds favorite! We come up every year to see the elk and stay overnight in St. Mary's and typically go to D's Bakery for breakfast. But this morning we decided to take the trip west to Ridgway and we are certainly glad we did. We will be back again highly recommend the place to everyone else. read more

Great little bakery/restaurant. Okay - who orders lobster bisque in the middle of Pennsylvania? My daughter & it was awesome. Brisket and ribs smoking on the sidewalk out front draws you in. Couldn't resist the brisket hoagie and it was outstanding. Smoky, moist and tender - yum. Too full for the coconut cream pie - very sad. Joeys consistently has the best breakfast in town. Generous helpings low-cost and speedy service. There are always plenty of waitresses available to help and you are not ignored. Their daily specials have plenty of variety. It's always crowded at Joeys and if you're looking for people you know in town you'll find them there. It's a great social environment.
