I had the best samgyupsal at Joe's Snack Grill, and the Korean colleagues who took me there for dinner attest to this sentiment. It's even better than some of the places they used to eat at in Korea, too, they said. I tried to mention some other Korean restaurants I like and I was shot down!
I had a few firsts at Joe's Snack Grill. My colleague mixed me a soju and beer drink that I really liked. They ordered cold noodles for me, which I've never encountered before at other restaurants. It came with iced soup that I poured into the bowl and mixed with a boiled egg and red bean paste. Delicious! With the amount of samgyupsal at the table, I only had half a serving of the noodles though. Another first was THE BEST KIMCHI EVER. It was really sour, which meant it had been fermented really long. The milder the acidity, the younger kimchi is apparently. The kimchi was put on the grill and it was absolutely delicious.
Price and portion-wise, Joe's Snack Grill is cheap! The samgyupsal came at 390 pesos. Great quality pork for that? Sign me up! The full bowl of cold noodles, called nemgyum, was 250 pesos and like I said you could split it with someone. Yum yum yum! read more
