    Jumong Samgyupsal

Craving for Korean after a night of drinking in the Poblacion area? Head over to Jumong! Unlike the other Korean restaurants in the area, this is open 24 hours, everyday. Woot! Don't expect this place to be "high-end", it's your typical Korean restaurant in Makati. That being said, I've checked the comfort room. It's... OK. Anyways, this is a good place to go with friends to eat, drink, and gossip until late. Their food is good and they offer beer, soju, and, my personal favorite, makkoli! The food here is not buffet style. So, sorry, this is not an unli-samgyupsal place. But, they do serve the Korean food favorites: Samgyupsal, Bibimbap, Kimchi Jigae, and Kalbi Jim. Also, they serve very good banchan! They only have a few tables inside but, if you arrive here late in the evening, there will always be a table available. By the way, if you need a hangover cure, ask they for the Spicy Beef Soup. You'll feel better and ready for another round of drinks! :P

Banchan options are good at Jumong, they're also refillable!

I am so happy I finally got to try this place! Found tucked in one of the narrow streets of Poblacion (also known as that area past Rockwell), I kept passing this restaurant on my way home. Thanks to a spontaneous dinner invitation, we found ourselves walking from Rockwell to Don Pedro St. Mind you, it's a considerable walk but it was definitely worth the effort. The restaurant is small with maybe 7 table inside and 4 more outside. It was full of patrons when we arrived. It was immediately clear why it was such a popular spot, they have all of our Korean food favorites. We had the thin sliced pork belly /samgyupsal (P280), sliced beef /Chadol bak-yi (P380) and the spicy beef soup /yukgae jang (P250) and a generous serving of appetizers. You can ask for refills too! You can ask the server to cook the meat to your liking, I personally prefer the meat crispy for added texture when I wrap it in the lettuce. The spicy beef soup was a revelation. Served with a cup of rice on the side, it was not overly spicy, but definitely rich, flavorful and with heaps of vegetables. The best thing about this restaurant may just be that it's open 24 hours. It's definitely a good option after a night of drinking or even just a long and stressful day spent in the office. As with all Korean restaurants, prepare to fork over P50++ for soda or alcoholic drinks but that's really just a small price to pay for some good food.

    Oh my, ban chan!

It's open 24 hours. 7 Days a week. Korean Food. SAM GYUP SAL. Korean hole-in-the-wall restaurants are probably one of the priced gems in and around P. Burgos. I frequent Z Roofdeck a lot and I've been seeing Jumong whenever I make a turn to Don Pedro Street. So one night, after Slowdown Sundays at Z Roofdeck, my friends and I decided to indulge and have a Korean feast! Jumong is really one of the best that I've tried in Makati! From the outside it looks like a house (just like most Korean restaurants in the area), so you have to pay attention to the signs. Thankfully, they have colourful labels from their menu plastered outside. It won't be easy to miss during the day. If anything, your Korean food trip wouldn't be complete if you don't even order any variety of Sam Gyup Sal (P280). Their selection of ban chan (Korean side dish) are great as well! I have to say they have one of the best kim chi variants out there! The only thing I dislike about dining here is that there's a limit to the ban chan goodies that you can avail. GIVE ME UNLIMITED BAN CHAN PLZ I BEG YOU AND I WILL STAY THERE FOREVER~~ We also tried Kim Chi Chigae (P250) and Kim chi Bokum Bap (P250). The Kim Chi Bokum Bap was really spicy! Which I liked a lot. It wasn't too tame and wasn't too extreme either. If I could marry a Kim Chi dish, this would be it. I'm really looking forward to eating more at Jumong since I hang out at Don Pedro Street a lot now! I can't wait for their food and my taste buds to reunite!

Because it was our first time, we were lucky to have the server that we did. She was so helpful and made the experience easy and enjoyable. She was friendly and was able to speak english very well. I must say, We weren't too happy with the banchan (side dish) selection, but the barbecued meats made up for it. Plus, we were fortunate to catch the live entertainment, which was very very impressive. All in all, it was an enjoyable experience. I wouldn't mind going back again, but hope that they improve or change up the side dishes.

Kpub is a solid choice for all-you-can-eat Korean barbecue. When K-pub first opened they were…read morepretty much the only restaurant serving this cuisine in the BGC area. But as of 2019, there are many, many choices. They have a solid selection of meats such as thin sliced beef, pork belly, bacon, thin sliced pork, marinated chicken and others. The flavors and quality are all good. For a minimum of 599, you can eat all you want for 1 hour. They used to bring a number of side dishes and sauces to your table too. But recently they changed it up so that there's now a buffet and you can get your own soup, salad, side dishes and sauces. What really sets K-pub apart from other all-you-can-eat Korean barbecue places is its sheer size. You're eating in a three story tall cavernous space facing a large stage with a huge television behind it. Most nights they have bands on stage. But on nights when they don't, or while the band is resting, they play Korean K-pop videos that can be a lot of fun to watch. The only really downsides are sometimes the ventilation is not enough and it can be smokey inside. There are no individual smoke vents per table. This can be especially bad if they're busy and your only option is to sit upstairs. It can also be a bit warm. Despite lots of air conditioners, its just a huge space to cool and sometimes it can be warmer than you might like. Lastly, if you're a really big or leisurely eater, the one-hour time limit might put you off. But the one hour starts from the time the food arrives on your table and you can still eat past the one hour mark, you just can't order any more. Overall its a fun experience, good for groups or parties as well.

We used to be regular customers there so we knew our meat. Our visit at this new branch redeemed us as regular customers again. We were so happy to be surprised by the extra space they have at the back; you'd think the branch is small if you only took a peek from the outside. It was a bit warm at first but they adjusted the aircon later on. Walls were painted black even in the restroom. Overall place looked simple and had that hole-in-the-wall vibe. Cleaning the front windows looks necessary though it amusingly matches the restaurant vibe. Service was good since they always got what we needed at fair waiting times. Refills came back loaded with food and the water pitcher really kept the service water cold. The free veggie leaves, dips, side dishes, steamed egg, and soup were impressive to the eyes and tongue. Be careful with the steamed egg because the bowl was insanely hot! We ordered two meats ala carte and they were excellent both in texture and flavor! To the management team: Thank you for impressing us, and we can only hope and wish you maintain the good quality of your food and service. Forget what I said about the windows; they still pass! :p

Venue since parking is limited and just walk to the restaurant (enter the street after Wendy's). It's an authentic cooked-at-the-table Korean charcoal barbecue restaurant. The meat plates and dishes we order are priced at Php220-400. We always order the Samgyeopsal, Wine Samgyeop, Chadolbagi and Galmaegisal for our meat. Additional dishes are the Steamed Egg, Kimchi Jigae, and Mul-Naengmyeon. The banchan is unlimited! The servers will cook all the meat for you but, I prefer to cook it myself. I love to make the pork extra crispy! Hehe! Their meat is always tender, fatty, and seasoned just right. You have to order their Steamed Egg! Don't ask why, just try it. Also, I always drink Makeoli when I'm here. Even if Carlo doesn't drink, I will drink it all by myself! If you want the authentic Korean charcoal grill experience at a very reasonable price, this is the place to go in Makati! Love, Love, Love this place!
