I've been a member of yelp for many years now and this is my first yelp review. I had a leak under my kitchen sink at night and called Joe's Fix It to check it out. Rob answered my call immediately and came on time to my house the next day. On the phone i had told Rob that i needed to change my faucets too as it was old and could be causing the leak. So i went to Lowe's and bought 4 varieties of faucets as i didnt know which one will look nice. Rob was so nice to help me decide the pros and cons of each one. It was not his decision to make but yet he helped me decide. He installed it and now it looks good. I will definitely call Rob for all my fixes around the house. read more

I found joes on yelp three days ago. I needed two chandeliers hung in my home. I emailed and texted joes and several other handyman services on yelp....only two responded within a day and the one could not come until thurs And what the higher price. However, Joe told me that he could schedule me a day later..on a Sunday!!! This was very exciting because it didn't fall on a weekday work day! Joe's employee showed up promptly and on time. He was very professional, tidy, and worked briskly. Brisk is good, ESP bc joe charges a very reasonable hourly rate! The end result was that I got my two chandeliers hung in 2 hours and they look amazing!!! I was very pleased and will definitely use Joe's again. Please do yourself a favor and call another handyman. Read the reviews. What started as prompt service quickly turned into multiple phone calls asking when the job would be completed. Over a month went by before we had our job completed. When it was completed the work was done poorly and they did not even clean up. When I called Rob to express my concerns he was very hostile and not at all professional. As others have also commented on the charges are outrageous. Get a quote. $545 for less than 2hrs of work and no discount for all the delays or poor work. Do not call this guy. read more

It doesn't look like Joes Fixit Services has been reviewed for quite a while. I generally don't provide ratings that are below a three-star (average) because I like to say good things about businesses (and I'm still going to do that here). My rating is NOT based on the actual SERVICE that I ended up receiving from this company as that was actually completed to my specifications and done quite competently. Here are some reasons for my two-star rating. (1) This company is called "Joes Fixit Services, but I never had any communication with "Joe" at all. (2) I scheduled an appointment for some small jobs with the handyman who called me as a result of my contact with the number listed for Joes. The person who called me and the number that I received a call from was not the number listed on the website and not Joe ... it was Rob. Several other reviewers have mentioned Rob in their reviews as well. (3) Using the cell phone number that Rob provided to me, I set an appointment for a few days away at a specific time, indicating that I would be driving to the location where the work was being done because I did not currently live there. (4) When the day and time for the appointment arrived, no handyman showed up. I called the number I had for Rob and he told me he was at another job but could be at my location in about 30 minutes. He arrived in about an hour. Since the place was vacant I just waited around whistling a happy tune (not). (5) Rob showed up and started working on all of the little jobs I had for him, but never discussed pricing with me (my bad for letting him start working without clarifying the pricing first). The whole time he was working, his phone was ringing non-stop with calls from other people who were working at other jobs for Joes Fixit, but who were reporting to him. It took about two hours to get done what probably could have been finished in about 45 minutes if all of the phone calls hadn't taken place. Also, I needed a part for one job. I offered to go pick it up while he was working (there's a Home Depot about 3 miles away from where he was working), but he stated that he'd need to come back on another day - or perhaps send his electrician to finish the job because he needed to get back to the job he had left. (6) On the day he was to return to finish the job I called Rob on the number I had for him (not the number for Joes Fixit) about an hour before our appointment to make sure he was going to be there on time (because I didn't want to be waiting around). He said he was running late and wanted to make the appointment about 30 minutes to an hour later than we had originally scheduled. When the job was FINISHED I was told that there was a 25% additional fee for "picking up parts." Once again - my bad for not clarifying this information ahead of time. (7) Again, during the time he was at my property the second time, Rob's phone kept ringing non-stop. It took a long time to do a job that I think could have been done much quicker than it was. I heard him not only talking to people that were obviously working for him at other job sites, but I heard him negotiating prices with a customer who was obviously not happy about the price that had been quoted on a job. These are not things I want to hear when someone is doing a job for me. (8) The paperwork I received and the invoices indicated "Joes Fixit Service" and that is the company I wrote my checks out to both times, but it seems as if this company is just a call-out service that fronts jobs for other people who are actually doing the work. No Joes Fixit Service truck or van ever showed up at my location - just Rob's truck. Rob did a good job with all of the little tasks that I needed to have done, I just wish they could have been done more quickly and that the focus could have been on my jobs while he was at my property. I also wish that when I explained all of the small little things that I needed/wanted to have completed I had been quoted a price up front so that I knew what to expect. Additionally, if a job is going to be "farmed out" to someone else, I'm OK with that, as long as the person doing the work is good at what they do (and Rob was good). It's just that I feel that Joes Fixit should really have been "Rob's Fix it" and that Rob needed a little bit more help in the "front office" department when he was out working at a job. read more

To reply to the comment: 1) The tenant was home each day during the timeframe that was agreed upon. She literally sat and waited by the front door because she was really upset over the shower door shattering and wanted it fixed. 2) I was never informed that you did not recommend reinstalling the shower door. If you or your technician would have told me, I would have said thank you, please do not put it back on, I'll buy a new door. 3) I had a company that specializes in shower doors evaluate what happened and they said, I quote, "he used nuts and bolts to put the door back on which started a crack in the glass. That's why it shattered." 4) It wasn't until after this incident that Rob told me he is newly enforcing a new policy to not reinstall old doors/parts. Time has passed and I found a different company that was able to fix what happened. I had no interest in bringing it up again. I don't appreciate that you're now trying to put the blame on us when your technician literally did not show up to do the job. On the first appointment he missed, he didn't even tell Rob. When I called Rob, he had no idea the tech didn't show. There after, Rob just stopped picking up my calls. There is zero communication within your company. I'm not asking for a refund or anything of the sort. I'm literally just telling it the way everything happened. read more

Called to have a water heater strapped. Within 3 hours they came out. I told them I had a brand new box of straps. The guy told me in order for the warranty to stay in place they would have to use their own straps - whatever, I sell Real Estate I don't have time to argue over such matters. Turns out that they had the EXACT water heater straps! The handyman they sent obviously had not strapped a water heater before because he had to spend 20 mins reading the instructions - but whatever it got done. End of story right? WRONG!!! The job was done at about 3 pm and I had other appointments that day and would not be in front of a computer until the next morning at about 9:30 am. This guy harassed me via texted every 2 hours saying that I had not gone to his website to pay him! REALLY? At 9:30 pm, about 6 hours after the service, I get a text saying that I would owe $10 a day everyday the bill was not paid! REALLY? We are talking about a $90 bill! Keep in mind that I tried paying at the site but the worker could not accept payment! I thought I had found another vendor to assist in my Real Estate business, but given that I felt I was treated like a common crook I will NEVER use this company again! BTW, if I could post the picture of their work you would laugh - the lender may ask them to come back out and straighten the straps! I give them 1 star for coming out right away! read more

He sent his employee over, and here's the cliff's notes: - 3 Hours late - Charged for driving to home depot AND added a mark up the things he bought there. - He didn't have a specific tool, so he bought the tool AND kept it. - No shoe booties or tarp for the carpet, so it got stained. - Quality of the job was a 7 of 10. read more

Before calling Joe's, I had called two other companies/handy-man services to repair my garbage disposal outlet (it stopped working, and I've been using an extension cord to another outlet to use the disposal). One company didn't show up for the appointment, and the other company never called me back. Joe's was on time, and they fixed the problem! I just realized I never gave these guys a review for the horrible nightmare they put my family thru, so here it is: First off, Joe doesn't even live in this state and he sends Rob out I guess to help manage their business. 2nd, they claimed to be insured/licensed, but when sh*t hit the fan I realized they weren't. I work at an insurance co, so I checked but shame on me for not doing so sooner. I wanted to report these guys to the BBB, but had no success since the info they provided me on my receipt was not valid. 3rd, Rob who claims to be great at his job didn't work the job but outsourced it to his buddy John and others. I thought I'd be able to save some money by getting them to do a big, but simple project that cost me over 8k because all the crap they put me through. Just needed them to plaster and paint the walls and some electrical work for my new home I just moved in to. Boy did they f*ck it up! Excuse my French but these guys did! John did not clean up well after himself. They did not cover my furniture up well, so dust was everywhere but that wasn't just it.. When they painted, John decided to spray paint my walls instead of using a roller and a brush. Again he didn't cover my stuff, so he got dust and paint over my new furniture. I made Rob credit me to hire a cleaning crew to clean up their mess. He sent John back to do this and he pretty much took the dirty shop vac and tried to clean things up. After all was done, I noticed scratches, paint on my new hardwood floor and furniture. Paint was on my window because John was too lazy to cover it up. This whole experience was a nightmare! I'll never forget these guys..they were very unprofessional and all had issues with each other. Joe couldn't do anything, but give excuses because he doesn't live here and was suffering from some kind of illness. Rob had marital and babysitting issues which was why he went MIA most of the time and was full of sh*t and broken promises. John was sloppy and had a falling out with Rob, supposedly during this job. Not to mention, John was trying to work a side job with my neighbor while working at my house. Needless to say, that job wasn't done since luckily for her she canceled because they went over the timeframe they quoted to finish my house. A 2 wk job went over for months until we finally got to an agreement. I just cut my losses at the end of the day since I did not want to deal with them anymore. They didn't take responsibilities for their mistakes at all. I still have a sour taste in my mouth with what happened and I'm a pretty understanding person. Prepare to be gouged. I've now used Joe's fixit twice. The first was to repair a leak in my bathtub. My home warranty company sent out a plumber to look at the leak, and the plumber wanted to basically rip my bathroom apart which I did not think was necessary. I called Rob to come take a look. My wife met him at the house, and he made several comments to her about how nice our neighborhood was and even asked how much we paid for the house. He also asked her if we were paying for the service or the home warranty company was. He also didn't bother to wipe his feet before tracking dirt across our two-day-old hardwood floors, and basically treated my wife like an idiot (didn't believe her when she told him where the water shut-off was, and would call me with any questions rather than just talk to her). My wife was pretty upset and Rob later apologized to me for upseting my wife. Despite the lack of professionalism, Rob seemed like a decent guy (to me at least), and I was satisfied that he was able to do the job for a price that seemed pretty reasonable compared to the other plumber, and didn't require ripping up the bathroom. A couple of months later I needed to replace a supply line to a toilet in the bathroom and re-install the toilet (it had been taken out for a floor remodel). I was in a hurry to get the toilet back, so I called around and Joe's was the only group I could find to do the job in the time I needed. As long as they were here, I figured I would also have them replace some drywall in the garage damaged by the first leak (about 2 ft by 3 ft). I told Rob that I had drywall on hand, but he said "that's ok, we've got some." Shame on me, I never asked for a quote, because I thought the last job was reasonably priced. This time they sent out another guy (John?), who was a great guy and super nice. He was able to fix the toilet and the drywall in two hours and I thought he did a pretty good job on the drywall. Before he left, he tried to call Rob so we could handle the bill, but Rob wasn't there. Rob and I traded calls later that afternoon (it was a Friday), and I eventually left him a message asking him to email me the bill so I could pay online because I was going to be busy the next day. Rob emailed me the bill that night, which was an amazing $525 for two hours of work and materials. The "materials" included $40 for drywall, screws, and mud (remember I told him I had drywall he could use). I estimate that the $90 of materials cost around $35 - $40, and like another yelper commented on, they didn't bother to leave any of the excess materials that I paid for behind. As I had told Rob, I was busy the next day (which is why I wanted him to email the bill, so I could get to it that night). However, Rob proceeded to call or email me nine times over the course of the day asking for payment. Like another guy commented, Rob said that they would start applying a per-day penalty if I did not pay. This was literally the day after the work had been done. And I could have paid the guy who came to the house if Rob had been available. After sending in payment that night, I emailed Rob and Joe (who had been cc'd on the bill), and told them I thought I was being gouged. I really had no leverage at this point because I had not asked for an estimate (my bad) and had already paid, but I told them they could keep me as a customer if they gave me a more fair price. And what was the response from the guy who had emailed/called me nine times earlier that day? Crickets. So...if you plan to use these guys, be sure to ask for an estimate, be ready for some serious unprofessionalism, and most importantly....prepare to be gouged. read more

Do yourself a favor and get an outfit that stands by it's words (as in within 25% of the original quote/state law) or your warranty later on in a few months, or whatever they told you is worth squat anyway. read more

I would never use this place or recommend them to anyone. I had a very simple electrical repair done. The subcontracted guy that came out only did about 45 minutes of actual work. The other time was making 2 Home Depot runs. The work was performed fine so i don't have any issue with the person who did the work. However, they charged me the equivalent of roughly $200.00 per hour for the labor. They gave me a bunch of excuses about insurance for electrical work etc but it's subcontracted to an electrician so I think they were just bilking me for the job. I asked for an invoice and they said they would bring one right over. Never heard from them. Total rip off !! read more

Rob was great. I had a small job to do; Hang a large painting, hang curtains and put together 2 pieces of furniture. All stuff I guess I could have done myself, but after trial and error at my last place, I decided to do it right at my new apartment by leaving the handy work to the professionals. I was worried that with a small job I wouldn't get treated with the same respect & attention to detail as those with larger jobs. But Rob was great, his rates are reasonable, and he is efficient. Great work! First of all, I was very please that I can get one of Joe's people to come out with such short notice. I called joe around noon and two hrs later, Rob, one of Joe's guys was at my doorstep! There had been a strange obnoxious alarm the previous night and refuse to let anyone sleep so I was desperate for someone to come find the source of the problem. I called Joe up and after consulting with him, he suggested that it was most likely our fire alarms. I had him come in to change all the batteries in our alarms but after looking at all of them, we found out that two of the alarms (the ones that were making those horrible sounds) were at least 15 years old! (wired-in fire alarms usually have a 5 year life expectancy). Good thing Rob had brought a couple of new ones with him and installed new ones in for us with no trouble! He also came really prepared with all different sizes of ladder since we have 20 ft ceilings and it would've been impossible to get any work done if he wasn't prepared. Rob also was very kind and replaced some of our dead light bulbs for us (we have really high ceilings) for free. I will definitely call joe up again if I ever need anymore work done! read more

Joe had a guy out within the hour to my house and within the week I called again this time for an electrician. He sent his best guy out and the job was done well. I needed someone to re-install an overhead light at my Mom's home and could only be there on the weekend since I don't live in OC. I had already been through the ringer with another highly rated Yelp electrician who said they don't do weekend appointments but would make an exception for me (and then never showed up!). Joe's Fixit didn't have a problem with the weekend request! 2 days before my appointment with JFS, I discovered another repair (re-installing shower doors) that was needed and asked if they could do that, too? Not only did he show up (on time!) but he was able to handle both repairs in an efficient fashion! If I lived in the OC, I'd use their services everytime! read more

I was referred to Joe's from a friend who thinks that Joe is great. Joe didn't come to my house, but one of his employees did. Setting up an appointment time was a breeze. The woman setting up the appointments is really nice. It's important to have all the materials you need ahead of time because if they need to go buy something, they charge for the time to go get it. One of the sensors on my light was broken (but I didn't know that until he looked at it). He went to go buy the part, was gone for about an hour, wasn't able to get it and I had to pay for his time. He forewarned me that he would charge for the time to go get it so that's fair, but it was disappointing to still have a nonfunctional light in the end. He did a good job replacing a different exterior light. So Joe's is great if you have everything you need ahead of time, but that's hard to do if you just need something fixed and not replaced. If you're replacing things, I think Joe's is great. read more
