The P-Bar is my hometown bar, and I have been coming here for longer than I can remember. My…read morefriends and I would come in high school on Thursdays for $1 Burger Nights (no longer around, RIP), and now we come to enjoy some drinks on the patio and hang out. The bar is located in a strip of stores along Old Clairton Road, just off of route 51. There is some parking in the front that is shared with all the other businesses, and then a parking lot across Old Clairton that gets used at night when the businesses that it is for are closed. Additionally, there is a private lot for the bar in the back, and parking at the Bill Green Shopping Center just a little ways down the road (sidewalks from Bill Green to the bar entrance). Due to a fire that occurred here a few years ago, the entire place has recently been remodeled and reoriented from how it was originally. The bar is now in the back, and the main dining room is in the front. There is also a great patio and outdoor space with open air seating, as well as some area under a porch. Everything is new, clean, and modern as a result of the remodel. On this visit, we came to hang out on a Saturday evening. It was raining, so we had to get a table inside. It was karaoke night, as they have each Saturday, so we got to take in the sights and sounds of several performers. Since we were there later in the evening, we just ordered appetizers to much on along with our drinks. I got the Fiesta Street Corn Dip. It was a great value for the price, and there was a ton to go around the whole table. I also sipped on a Summer Shandy from their seasonal draft list. Overall, the food menu has a decent selection, all at very reasonable prices. The draft list did not have any red or brown ales on it, but there was still a fair selection of drinks. The ladies who came around to our table were pleasant and helpful. It was rather crowded, but there would be times we would not see a server for extended periods of time. I do not think it helped that our table was tucked back in a corner, but wish we would have been visited on a somewhat more frequent basis to put additional orders in. I always have a good time at the P-Bar, and enjoy coming here. Especially in the summer, it is an ideal place to hang out and catch up with friends. And likely, if you are from the area, you will run into several people you know. I did not have their breakfast this time, but the breakfast they have on the weekends is worth a try as well!

Not sure how the afternoons are but I will have to try it out. The food was awesome! The onion rings were some of the best around. If you are looking for somewhere close to home but not a chain I would definitely give the P Bar a try.

I suppose I could've driven somewhere, but I noticed this roadside Mexican spot was a quick stroll away albeit next to an unlit highway. Speed demons made the darkened walk feel somewhat hazardous, but I was relieved when I found the restaurant bustling with young married couples and kids. The bar was also busy with a lot of denim and plaid among the patrons. As a solo diner, I felt conspicuous since I was seated at the most visible table. The veteran waitress left me a menu and a basket of Mexican puffed wagon wheel chips (Photo 8). Reminding me of Funyuns, I pushed most of them aside because I wasn't a family of four. The menu listed all the familiar gut-busting Mexican favorites you'd expect at a place like this. I decided on the $17 Pollo Cancun because I saw grilled chicken breast, steamed broccoli, and cauliflower in the description. What I conveniently ignored was the phrase, "bathed with white queso dip". What arrived was a bubbling pool of melting cheese in a cast-iron pan topped with a few broccoli and cauliflower florets. The chicken was flattened and still cooking underneath the cheese (Photo 9). There was a separate plate for the Mexican rice (Photo 6), and another one for the iceberg lettuce, tomato slice, sour cream, and three warm flour tortillas wrapped in foil (Photo 10). When I saw all three plates on my table, I was overwhelmed, but I assume the portions are the big draw here. Once I got my routine down of assembling my tacos, they were pretty good. I wish the chicken was fresher but otherwise it was quite edible. My favorite part of the meal though was the $11 Sangria Margarita, a frozen margarita topped off with their house sangria (Photo 5). Simple but it worked. FOOD - 4 stars...better than I expected for family-style Mexican AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...very bright, kinda loudish SERVICE - 4 stars...Rebecca came like clockwork TOTAL - 4 stars...my best meal in West Mifflin, also probably my only one...unless I make it to Kennywood RELATED - Exploring Pittsburgh? You walked in and can either take the stairs or elevator up to the third floor. There's a couple of couches, a water fountain, and some memorabilia on the ground floor. The second is off limits. The taproom is pretty big and we didn't sit outside since it was cold but there's a rooftop deck as well. There's a food counter with a small menu and two open bars from different breweries. I like that they have smaller pours that are reasonably priced. I'm a dark beer lover and they had a few options for me. We sat there at the bar and closed down the place. This place is a little out of the way but I would come back!

There is an outdoor ground level patio and bars in the nice weather but that is all currently closed. There is also a rooftop space which I have been to before and it's great. It's nice to be able to sit outside and enjoy the views while having a nice drink, though it can get crowded. Inside there is plenty of seating. You can grab a stool at the bar by Abstract Realm. There are large tables. TVs around. Plenty of room to gather. I personally have not tried the food but it's nice that there is a kitchen there to grab some food. As far as the beer I think it will be helped when the third brewery opens just to give some more variety and options which is needed. There is a parking lot but it is small and can fill quickly which may leave you looking for nearby street parking. Overall I think this can be a great stop. It's nice to have a few different breweries where people can each find something to their liking while you are able to gather and socialize.
