I was referred to Dr. Duncan by a co-worker of mine who gave him rave reviews and spoke of how…read moreloving and caring he was. I DID not experience the same type of loving and caring when I took my dog in. My puppy (6mo) had been vomiting for a day and I noticed that she had eaten a hole in her blanket, I took her to Dr. Duncan (one of the only vets open on a saturday). He somewhat examined her, took an xray of her abdomen and proceeded to inform me that she had an obstruction and needed to have surgery. Since it was the weekend and a holiday weekend, he could do the surgery, but the cost would be upwards of $1000.00. I asked him if we could do some other treatment and see if she would pass the blanket. His options were surgery or euthanize her, basically there was nothing I could do besides surgery. Of course I was devastated, I asked if there was some sort of payment plan that I could do in order to pay for the surgery. His response..."Bring in some guns or jewelry and I can lock them up in my safe and hold as collateral"...Otherwise I cant do the surgery. I paid my bill ($180) for the xray and exam and left. I then proceeded to go to another local vet who is open on saturday. She did not charge me an exam fee and opted to see if my dog would pass the obstruction...She gave her laxatives, nausea meds, and fluids to get her through the weekend. Gave me her cell number and told me to call in case anything changed....She wanted to see if she would pass it first before we opted for surgery and if surgery was necessary, then we could work out a payment plan. By Monday my dog was back to her normal self. I went back to the female vet who thoroughly examined my dog and said there was no need for another xray and that she seemed fine and more than likely passed the piece of blanket. She has had no issues since. I would NOT recommend Dr. Duncan to anyone....he seemed bothered by me bringing in my dog, didn't show much concern and seemed to only want money. He didn't even try another treatment for her...In his eyes, it was $1000 surgery or death....NOT a fan at all!!!
