Vet misdiagnosed pet with pancreatitis after giving a history of bone ingestion . Did not do a cxr…read more( against national guidelines) and proceeded to continue treatment despite worsening condition. Upgraded antibiotic without culture results( against national vet consensus guidelines ) My pet almost died , and was admitted to ms vet hospital with foreign body in esophagus , perforation , mediastinitis and pus in thorax (multi drug resistant strain .)He had emergent foreign body removal , bilateral chest tubes and a feeding tube placed. After $8000 bill and a5 day ICU stay , he is home with a long road ahead with additional vet expenses and monitoring required. This vet's negligence and incompetence ( Dr Strudivent and Dr Haven) led to malpractice and harm to my pet both physically and me financially. My pet was admitted and given fluids and medicines by Dr Stridivent early on , and he never thought to do more tests and actually discharged him on a Friday afternoon saying he was better ! He refused to do additional testing when I asked him to 5 days later when my pet was groaning and in distress. Finally on Wednesday before Thanksgiving, I refused to take dog home and Dr Johnson was only one who said we need to go to MS Vet hospital and referred us. I am a physician and I know that although these vets( Strudivent and Haven) did not have mal-intent, they were incompetent ,negligent , committed imalpractice and nearly killed my pet as a consequence. Many families would not have had $8000 to spend on their furr baby ,and their pet would be six feet under today . Beware and choose your vet carefully. I would never want this to happen to someone else's loved one. I agree we are all human and make mistakes in diagnosis ,but to not follow national guidelines and be so stubborn and arrogant when the family is telling you something is wrong is unforgivable in my books

Village Animal Hospital - This is what resulted from the staph infection. Our puppy may still lose his paw.

Brought our beloved dog to the Village Animal Hospital who was limping with a sore paw. He was…read moreseen by Dr. Camille Comer. She sedated him and x-rayed with my husband's approval. She then, without our notice and approval cut into our dog's paw. After this she did not wrap it and he contracted a severe staphylococcus infection that threatened the loss of his paw. When our dog was returned to us the wound in his paw was not sanitized or wrapped and was visibly swollen 3 times its normal size. We could tell he was not doing well and immediately took him to a different vet for to hopefully safe his paw and probably his life. This 2nd vet did a culture and confirmed the staph infection and immediately disinfected and wrapped his paw and started our dog on antibiotics 3 shots a day for a month costing us over $1,500 so far. We are so disappointed in Dr Comer and the Village Animal Hospital. They have yet to even call and check on the status of our pet. Even after I called them to let them know how bad he was doing. After years of being patrons of this clinic, we will never return.

I recently helped a friend by taking her senior dog to this clinic for a dental procedure. She had…read morecalled ahead to confirm that someone else could drop him off, and was told that would be fine. No one mentioned anything about needing paperwork filled out in advance. To be safe, she went to the clinic in person before the appointment to ask what else needed to be done. That's when they gave her the required paperwork. Which I suppose they were expecting me to do, had she not double checked in advance. When I arrived to drop off her dog with the completed forms, things felt disorganized. The staff didn't immediately realize I wasn't the owner, and at one point, someone even tried to hand me more forms to fill out, even though it wasn't my dog. One staff member eventually said something like, "Oh, right, the owner isn't dropping him off today," which made it clear that communication among the team wasn't great. Then, because the dog is older, I was asked to approve a $165 blood panel. I told them I wasn't sure and that the owner would have to confirm. My friend had previously been told that recent bloodwork had already been done and that no new testing would be necessary. She followed up right away (15 minutes later to be exact) and was given conflicting information. First, they said there was no bloodwork on file, then that it wasn't recent enough, and finally that it had to be within 1 month (after she had been told 1-2 months). She had the original records faxed over, but was told they still weren't acceptable. She was also supposed to get a call from the vet to discuss the bloodwork and procedure before anything moved forward, but that call never came. Had she received it, she likely would have canceled the appointment due to the unexpected charge. The final bill ended up being over $400, when she was originally expecting around $230 for just a dental cleaning and nail trim. She only found out her dog was ready because the clinic called her mom, not her. And when she picked him up and tried to address these concerns, she was handed a letter stating that she was no longer welcome at the clinic. This was a stressful and disappointing experience caused by a lack of communication, unclear policies, and inconsistent information. I wouldn't recommend this clinic. Save yourself the stress and go somewhere that communicates clearly and respects its clients' time and money.
