Dr. Gamboa is a very good doctor. Unlike most, he takes the time to listen and explain questions you may have. I highly recommend him.

During a routine blood exam my doctor saw something of concern. She advised me to make an…read moreappointment with a rheumotologist and recommended Dr. Duffin. I have a PPO because I like selecting my doctors so I was weary of going to see a doctor I hadn't researched or selected. Since I feel I get amazing care with my current medical provider I decided to take her recommendation. I didn't know what to expect from my appointment with Dr. Duffin. I have a very limited understanding of what rheumotologists do. Dr, Duffin took the time to pull up my medical records on some medical record sharing software system. He went through about 5 years of my medical history asking me questions and reading over lab reports, doctor's notes and my MRI. Dr. Duffin was able to tell me what was wrong with me, what I should expect and how I can treat it. He took the time to show me things online, explain to me what he was showing me and he printed up some materials for me to take home and read. He was very patient in answering all my questions. He ordered a few more blood tests and called me on a Sunday to report the results when I called his office with a question he called me back on a weeknight at 10pm. I'm not sure if the Sunday and 10pm calls are for everyone, but I didn't mind. If you're in the market for a rheumotologist, I highly recommend Dr. Duffin!

I rarely find a physician who is sympatico with my condition, issues and many physical challenges and am most appreciative of someone who is competent as well as caring. High recommend for those who are seeking assistance for Quality of Life issues and dealing with a staff who are polite, expedient and extremely helpful.

[Review #819] 2024-018…read more Due to the short notice because of a weekend fender bender before Thanksgiving, I wasn't able to schedule an appointment with my PCP & had to visited a different UCLA Health Torrance Primary & Specialty Care. I didn't realize it's in the same building where I get my labs (referencing related UCLA Health reviews; Review #s: 721, 722, 736, & 813). The office is located on the 3rd floor, exit elevators & make right, about 100 ft. I was scheduled to see Dr. Miranda. I checked in via my cell phone & received a message stating that "we couldn't check you in; please check in at the desk." I checked in at the reception desk & stepped away to use the restroom, & was informed that I still wasn't checked in & they'll bill me for the co-pay since their cash drawer is closed. Aaaugh! The intake nurse (forgot her name) was super sweet & empathizes with my unfortunate mishap because the same happened to her husband. We both agreed that it's material & it's more important that the person is well instead of the car (meaning the car did its safety job of protecting the occupants). Dr. Miranda came in & asked a few questions, barely gave me a once over, ordered a bunch of x-rays & sent me on my way. I had to return the next day because radiology closed at 4:30 PM. Hmmm... I understand that I was squeezed in to see a doctor ASAP after the accident, but one might logically conclude that x-rays might be necessary & would schedule the patient when x-rays can be done instead of going back & forth, assuming the reason for seeing a doctor is because they're in pain. X-ray appointments are unavailable, it's walk-in only. The following day, I walked in an hour prior to my PCP wellness check-up. The front desk says the process is quick, I'll be finished within 15-mins. Okayyy... that's only if I'm seen right away. Virgil, X-Ray Technician, called me with 30-mins. to spare. I informed him I had to be done in 15-mins. in order to make my wellness appointment that's not in this building. He says it'll be tight but he'll do his best. I kept my top, & had to change out of my jeans because it has a metal button & zipper. Virgil was the utmost professional... he explained what he was doing or gave specific directives on what I needed to do. Knowing that I'm here because of a car accident, he was gentle when making minor adjustments to prep for each x-ray. He has excellent time management skills, I was done & dressed in under 15, & made my PCP appointment on Skypark Dr. with 6-mins. to spare. This UCLA Health location has plenty of parking but can get busy early morning (probably due to walk-ins for the lab & radiology) or lunch hour. With the exception of scheduling & check-in process, service quality is slightly under par from its sister locations.

Dr was rude and very pushy on medications in spite of being told no by patient. I then stated he does not want to, he said I'm not speaking to you. It was clear a rude & unnecessary comment as Dr was not listening or respecting what he was told, changed Dr immediately.
